My child has a badge that sees ghosts?

Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

@Rubyupbeat That’s a terrifying story!

IJustCantDeal · 19/01/2020 16:20

Initially I was sceptical but you’d have to be extremely imaginative to make this stuff up. You should consider writing a book, sounds absolutely terrifying. I definitely think your ds has the sight, blessing the house won’t help as it’s happening at others homes.

whatdoyouthinkyouknow · 19/01/2020 16:31

@BunnytheBlueWhale you've just reminded me of something my daughter said.

When she was 2 she would say 'I want to go home'. It made me sad to think she didn't already think she was home.

She's quite sensitive, and tuned in to things even now. Maybe there was more to it.

Lailaha · 19/01/2020 16:31

@steff13 well, now you mention it, there is that new SARS/MERS type virus in China at the moment... I'd go for the handwashing in the interim Grin

iklboo · 19/01/2020 16:35

btw its not the badge itself but may be linked to whoever owned it.

It was bought from an outdoors pursuit gift shop by the boy's dad. Nobody else has ever owned it.

PlomBear · 19/01/2020 16:39

The badge was in a basket of badges at a Welsh youth hostel, I do wonder sometimes whether somebody else had had Birdie Friend , found he was too much and put him back in the basket. Wink

I’m struggling with my university assignment, DS came up to me and said “Birdie Friend wants to help” so now a badge is sitting on the desk staring at me. He’s not helping.

He also said “I won’t see DDog again will I mummy?”

"Dear mummy, I have the Sight but I didn't know it was called that and I didn't really know how to tell you. While in Wales - known for being a bit 'woo' in many areas - I acquired a sort of avatar in the form of a badge. Now the Sight is a bit stronger. Oh, and also, little pitchers have VERY long ears, and I was often listening to things when you thought I was sleeping. Plus I'm an observant little chap".

"Dear DS, 4, that's a very special gift and we need to make sure you're all nice and snug and safe when you're using it. Let's do some nice meditations in which we surround you with a lovely sealed invisible bubble of white light and post the four archangels at the four corners of your room and everywhere you go. And while we're at it, let's give Birdie friend a nice wash in boiled water with a bit of rock salt dissolved, massage a bit of pure Virgin olive oil into it, and give it its own special box with a lid and a nice white cloth to keep it comfy....@

Plom I feel you need to tap into BF's power to access his help for your essay . . .but I fear that may also unleash the hounds of hell so you know, yin/yang. Grin

TiddyTid · 19/01/2020 16:56

This is fascinating!

RockinHippy · 19/01/2020 16:57

Rubybeat

I have a very similar story, lived with it fir 3 years & when I looked back I don't know how the hell we did it. The final straw was it throwing a knife at me that stuck into the wall, that would have hit me in my back, had I not bent over just at the right second to see what my cat was fussing about. I left that day & never went back. We had a ridiculous amount of rare & bad occurrences in such a short space of time, fire, flood, pestilence, life changing accidents & murder. I didn't want to acknowledge that it might be linked as I still had to live with it. He only ever showed himself to women too & only stole their things. A friend gave me a photo he shows up in years later & I felt sick to my core looking at it

Tistheseason17 · 19/01/2020 16:59

Love this thread!
My girsl tell me they got to choose me as their mum and youngest said she had to wait her turn!

TinyTimsCrutch · 19/01/2020 17:00

We had similar with our Ds , he had an imaginary (or so we thought ) friend called Nathan, then Nathan’s cousin John came and Johns friend Cody. Then he started “talking” to a girl called Chloe. When I asked him where she came from he said Heaven. We are not religious in any way and had never discussed heaven/hell. When mil asked a week later where she had gone he said “to another world underground, she’s Nathan’s sister and lives down there with her family but he stays here with me” 😳

Redazzy · 19/01/2020 17:04

Absolutely spine tingling and fascinating thread. Loving all the stories. I love a woo story and am quite willing to suspend disbelief but have never had any personal experience.

Can I just say though, OP, your little boy sounds utterly delightful. He is clearly hugely empathic and a caring, loving child. I think you are dealing with his revelations really sensibly and you sound like you will find the best way to help him if he needs it.

OlaEliza · 19/01/2020 17:37

People that don't believe, how do you explain the number of kids that know their mum is Pg, and get the sex right?

Or the sheer number that can remember past lives that can be corroborated?

I think kids are far more open and receptive but sadly lose that as they grow.

Have you asked your DS what birdie friends real name is op? Or how they ended up where they are?

Cherrysoup · 19/01/2020 17:37

Someone could walk down the street tomorrow dressed in 90s clothes and you wouldn’t notice.

Or you’d think they were recently arrived Eastern Europeans! They stick out a mile.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 19/01/2020 17:39

Damien?

MissingMySleep · 19/01/2020 17:45

More shameless place marking

sleepismysuperpower1 · 19/01/2020 17:46

shamelessly placemarking...

whataballbag · 19/01/2020 17:49

Another vote for asking BF his real name

Really? All the kids here are dressing like it’s the 90s. High waisted baggy jeans, bodies, open shirts.

feelingchange · 19/01/2020 17:53

Earlier today I was reading this thread and chuckling away, I looked up and to the right was a small abandoned building... I think it's the church or BF 😱 hopefully pic will attach

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 19/01/2020 17:55

I really don't think its your ds that has 'the sight' and he is using BF as a conduit. I think that BF has something attached to it and because your ds is young he can pick it up and interpret it.

I am a teacher and years ago I had a young girl do this funny thing on my fingers and then told me something about my future. (I wouldn't have let her if I had know what she was going to do) and she said she could do it on adults but not on children because they were 'different'ly spiritually attuned'.

Plombear as much as I have enjoyed your thread as entertainment I think you should take this seriously and take steps to help this thing move on and for the badge to be moved on at the same time.

FlamingoAndJohn · 19/01/2020 17:56

It’s a 50/50 chance

Or the sheer number that can remember past lives that can be corroborated?
Are there a huge number? I can think of one case.

I don’t disbelieve, I’ve been a subscriber to the Fortean Times for the last 20 years but I am skeptical.

(Doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying hearing about Birdie Friend though)

LikeTheOceansWeRise · 19/01/2020 17:56

Well that settles it. I shall never sleep again after reading this thread! Blush
