Live CF parking thread (with diagram!)

So NC for this as not sure if neighbours are on here.

I am off today & woke up to the sound of doors banging and loud voices.

Have a glance out of bedroom window & there are 2 vans & a land rover parked on my ACTUAL drive!

Now I guess it's easily mistaken as a public car park Hmmso don't say anything immediately but once I'm up and toddler is dressed I go downstairs to see.

My next door neighbours are away on holiday. But of a weird driveway as their house has its own but it's round the back of ours and ours is at front so if you use sat nav it brings you to ours as their house is other side of our driveway ifyswim.

Diagram to show you what I mean.

Anyway they are unloading tools etc onto big sheets on my drive and walking over grass to neighbours

I said to them it was a private drive and could they move onto neighbours and they said they won't be long Angry

I was too shocked to say much more than 'no please move now'

Grrrrrrr!

Don’t ask him to move again!! Can’t you just drive off and close the gate behind you!

WoodsNTrees · 07/08/2019 16:27

Your diagrams are spectacular! Bravo.

SistersOfPercy · 07/08/2019 16:28

I need a space ship pen.

As you were

piefacedClique · 07/08/2019 16:29

These are very definitely the best diagrams on mumsnet EVER!!!! And a parking thread to boot! Thank you. There definitely are not enough parking threads recently!

PeachMoon · 07/08/2019 16:30

Your diagrams are fabulous, best ever!

LittleOwl153 · 07/08/2019 16:31

As it stands he has done exactly what he wanted to do which was park there for his working day an move when he is ready.
Personally I would go out, lock the gates and leave hi to it. Especially if you plan to be out after 6pm - so well after clocking off.

Sadly these Rrogant men get away with such thi gs as they k iw how to play the game. I'd also be reporting him to your neighbour and his trade associations and if his harrassment continues to the police tomorrow.

SauvignonBlanche · 07/08/2019 16:32

Why hasn’t your toddler crashed into the van yet?

BruceAndNosh · 07/08/2019 16:33

I don't like to be critical OP, but your house and your neighbours' keep switching sides of your diagram.
No wonder the blokes don't know where to park!

probstimeforanewname · 07/08/2019 16:34

It's a criminal offence to block someone in on their drive, so OP could get that actioned by the authorities. Actually OP, bear that in mind when the CF workman wants to leave. Let him go, but take a looooong time moving your car and locating the key to the gate

I would say the key point here is "their" drive. Not a random person's drive. You can't block me in on my drive, but I can block you in on my drive if you are cheeky enough to park there without my consent. Plenty of car parks say they close at a certain time and you have to be gone by that time or will be locked in. Can't really see the difference - either way you are locked in, and with the car park you have the right to be there in the first place.

When he bangs on the door asking you to move, tell him you don't drive, you've no idea who that car belongs to, fuckwits just keep parking on your drive

Totally love this!

cate16 · 07/08/2019 16:35

Probably the van owner is more than happy that you are keeping an eye on his van/tools. Where I live vans can't be left for five minutes before all the tools are nicked out of it!

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 16:36

So sorry about the swapping on drawings it's the size of paper. Quite frankly I'm over excited now and used my toddlers best drawing pad for last one!

I've gone out! I stood there and said I'm off out for night shift now. Back about 8am. Byeeeeee!

He just laughed. I have kicked gate.

I wouldn't park on someone else's driveway but I wouldn't be bothered if next doors workman parked on mine

If they had the courtesy to ask, and I didn't need to get out myself, neither would I. If they just did it I'd be really cross.

Bookworm4 · 07/08/2019 16:36

A link to FB thread would be lovely 😉

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 16:36

Locked not kicked.

I'm slightly scared in case funny beats me home and let's him go free?!

That last diagram = best diagram ever on MN.

Bookworm4 · 07/08/2019 16:38

Tell your DHto meet you after work, keep him away from house!

greenwaterbottle · 07/08/2019 16:40

Can you ask some Facebook people to come block him in.
If his company details are on his can then I'd be naming and shaming on Facebook.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 07/08/2019 16:41

Hope you’ve got some cctv to see what he tries to do when he realises what you’ve actually gone out and locked him in.

probstimeforanewname · 07/08/2019 16:41

Can you contact your DH and explain? I would absolutely try to contact mine though he never answers his mobile and ask him to make sure he didn't go home for a bit.

WiddlinDiddlin · 07/08/2019 16:42

I love the diagrams, and now I need to get spaceship pens etc.. I almost want another car related incident so I can do a diagram!

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 16:42

In slightly anxious now. I mean that's prob the bravest thing I've ever done!

LakieLady · 07/08/2019 16:43

Great diagram!

Text hubby (who may indeed be funny) and tell him not to go home but to meet you somewhere so you can eat out tonight. Even if it's just a burger in the park or something.

Let the CF stew. And go out for the day tomorrow, very early, and visit a mate for the day.

That'll learn the bastard.

ItsJustASimpleLine · 07/08/2019 16:43

You cant go back yet! Treat yourself to tea out :)
