To ask for a round up of all the little MN in-jokes?

Mods, feel free to delete this if it's not okay!

I've been here some months now, and I've noticed a lot of little in-jokes around that come from old threads, some of which are in Classics, etc. Usually when I come across a reference that I don't recognize, someone is kind enough to explain it to me (and sometimes even link the original thread!) but I thought it might be nice, and kind of fun, to gather together as many as we can in one thread!

I'll start. The one that always sticks out to me is the one about the Mexican house thief. That's from this thread.

The other one that had me in absolute stitches was the saga of Sharon, the wasp, and the wine that never reached the carpet, which starts here, and apparently continues here with someone "t-rexing in the Asda"... Hysterical, I tell you.

I'm really hoping some long-time MNers will be along to link to such joys as "cancel the check"; "pom bears"; "Maui"; and the one where everyone MumsNetted as their toddlers :D

(I'm sorry if this is against some unwritten rule. It's not REALLY a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a lot of threads...)

THANK YOU! I have been wondering about Mexican House Thief for ages and indeed it did not disappoint. Worth the wait!

Here's a link to the Gluezilla thread mentioned above if anyone hasn't seen it!

Bloody hell - I've just realised that Gluezilla was four years ago Shock

(IIRC, I believe she's had a 'baby Glue' since then!)

DadDadDad · 19/07/2017 18:14

Yes, that was a bit of a highlight of summer '13. If you are new to the Gluezilla saga, thread 4 linked above has some nifty summaries in the first 30 posts or so, so you can get up to speed quickly.

alltouchedout · 19/07/2017 18:23

Penetration man- was that a whole thread of it's own? I can't find it or remember it accurately enough to explain it here.

HicDraconis · 19/07/2017 18:28

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius - was @HoneyDragon also the MNer who exited a swimming pool but left half her togs behind? Minge on show, helpfully pointed out by her DH? Couldn't find the thread but def remember reading something similar.

My favourite of all time was "Pirate Sex". I have searched and searched but can't find it probably doing it wrong

To abide by the rules of the thread Grin the gist of it was...

A poster came on to ask if anyone else's partner did what her partner does, i.e. make pirate noises and say words (aye aye cap'n, shiver me timbers, that's a fine chest there you wench and other ridiculous things) whilst having sex.

The answer was NO and the thread degenerated from that point Grin

BTW - here is the MN Classics Topic www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics

Roussette · 19/07/2017 18:42

You're a star Fru, I need to hone my searching skills!

Anonymous1112 · 19/07/2017 18:43

This thread is brill. All my favourites in one place.

Roussette · 19/07/2017 18:43

Just seen it was from 2005, I've been here forever waffling

faithinthesound · 19/07/2017 18:45

I HEARD about "your minge!" I cackled. It's one of those things, like pom bears, that don't sound like they'll be all that funny until you read them in context!

Welp, this was the best birthday present ever (my birthday is the 19th, I posted it when it was the 19th here in New Zealand, now I think it's the 19th in the UK). I'm off to read the Gluezilla thread now!!

There's a funny one on at the moment about someone's grandma who has a skull that her dad liberated from a french church in WW1 and she is keen to return it but worried about getting into trouble. Her dad set his own teeth into the jaws.

It's causing allsorts of amusement (and confessions). I can see 'skully' becoming a 'thing' on here.

faithinthesound · 19/07/2017 18:46

Keep them coming! This might end up being such a good roundup of the classics that it ends UP in Classics! (secret aspiration!)

There was a hilarious thread a few years ago (I can't find it at the moment Blush). The OP's fiancee was in the Navy (?) and had gone out for his company's/crew's Christmas party in Portsmouth (?). It was fancy dress and he was wearing an Elf (?) outfit. Unfortunately he got a tad drunk and couldn't get his fancy dress outfit off before having a shit. He texted her - she was at home - to tell her what had happened.

She started a thread about it - it was so funny - wish I could find it!

originalbiglymavis · 19/07/2017 18:49

I remember sitting waiting for DS at a class with tears pouring down my eyes at some thread about poo in a sock. I ended up letting out a great big belly laugh and got the evils from some of the other mums. Must've been about 5 years ago.

HicDraconis · 19/07/2017 18:51

Happy birthday @faithinthesound - where in NZ are you? Hope you weathered the storm ok if you're north island! :)

FruBayerischOla · 19/07/2017 18:52

faithinthesound. There are four Gluezilla threads - as I linked above! They'll probably take you all night though!

BabychamSocialist · 19/07/2017 18:54

Oh god, Pirate Sex is my all time favourite. We took the kids to see Pirates of the Caribbean recently and it's all I could think about!

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 19/07/2017 18:56

Thank you so much for this thread, faith! Despite being on here since my (now) giant DC were teeny I managed to have an uncanny knack of missing many of these wonderful threads. Thanks to you and the fab collective MN memorybank these references will no longer be a mystery and will also allow me to waste many a happy hour catching up.

MsJudgemental · 19/07/2017 18:59

The fly seat on the bus! Had me in tears laughing.

TheDuckSaysMoo · 19/07/2017 18:59

2013!!!! No way was gluezilla 4 years ago. Life is moving too fast.
