We were secretly sent the lyrics to the first dance and as a surprise we all had to stand up and sing it to the couple.

My toes were curling Grin

Father of the groom called the new bride by the ex wife's name.

Congratulations to Wayne and waynette, I mean Linda

TurnipCake · 22/04/2017 23:23

Releasing of doves Grin

TurnipCake · 22/04/2017 23:25

Went to another wedding where one of the first songs played featured the name of his ex-wife. We then had to watch their dance montage which was clearly going on YouTube

Cringe like sitting on a white sofa on your period

HeyRoly · 22/04/2017 23:28

Went to a Humanist wedding (fab idea in principle, I like Humanism a lot) and we all had to sing a Beatles song mid-ceremony like it was a hymn.

JustHereForThePooStories · 22/04/2017 23:29

Highly-choreographed first dance done as a surprise by the bride and groom. They did four different dances to four different songs.

Awful.

ExplodedCloud · 22/04/2017 23:31

A half strip by the bride and bridesmaids to the groom and groomsmen.

Redcrayons · 22/04/2017 23:32

Bride's cousin playing the guitar during the signing or the register. He was not gifted in guitar playing and didn't appear to know very much as it was basically the same 2 minute bit played over and over. It was alright for a bit then got a bit awkward and embarrassing. Fair play to him for giving it a go though.

expatinscotland · 22/04/2017 23:33

The bride and groom sang Endless Love to each other, badly.

UrsulaPandress · 22/04/2017 23:34

A friend of the bride singing Cohen's Hallelujah.

ClopySow · 22/04/2017 23:36

The mother of the brides face as i spoke to her very drunkenly about thrush. Still cringing 15 years later.

hoddtastic · 22/04/2017 23:36

the best mans speech at my best friends wedding was awful. He (the best man) was a public school educated chinless banker wanker (best mate is married to a banker) he made 'joke' after 'joke' about how well best mate had done, her work ethic, and some horrible joke about their sex life (not sure how much of it is true) Best mate is Irish, of farming stock- made loads of comments about that/her family as though they were idiotic, freeloading simpletons. Just really awful. cringeworthy. As an aside most of the 'farmers' are absolutely loaded and could've bought and sold the rude arsehole times over.

DontFeedTheTrolls · 22/04/2017 23:50

Bride sang a solo to the groom. She was very, very bad. We all got the giggles and had to leave the room.

Gaaaah · 22/04/2017 23:50

15 years ago there was a nightclub in our town that had a dj everyone took the piss out of for being lame and past it.

2013, we went to a wedding of a friend. They had the same dj as their wedding dj and my God he was as cringy as ever. I don't even know if it was supposed to be a big joke or not. The bride and groom are doing their first dance and he is singing some crap cheesy song really badly grinding his tackle up the back of the bride! It was the weirdest shit I've ever seen.

Worse than that...the dj has a full time job and my husband works with him on a daily basis. It's so odd.

honeyroar · 22/04/2017 23:51

Just about every choreographed first dance I've ever seen.

(Although mine and my husband's "get it over with" shuffle of a first dance must have been awful to watch, I hated it and dreaded it all day).

sonlypuppyfat · 22/04/2017 23:53

I ring church bells, I watched a wedding where the bride kissed the groom and he scrubbed it off!

AlcoholAndIrony · 22/04/2017 23:54

Father of the bride speech where he was basically comparing daughters. Didn't know where to look.

Xmasbaby11 · 22/04/2017 23:56

I don't think any thing's cheesy at a wedding. It's the one day a couple can be as shameless as they like!

RJnomore1 · 22/04/2017 23:58

One of dhs friends had thrones. Like the beckhams.

Do people lose all sense and taste when it comes to weddings?

HonorBright · 23/04/2017 00:00

The groom had a best woman instead of a best man - his oldest friend.

It was painfully, painfully obvious to everyone but the bride and groom that she was hopelessly in love with him and despondent at his marriage. It was awful.

TinselTwins · 23/04/2017 00:00

SPEECHES!

Mother of the bride making passive aggresive digs at the grooms side
Father of the bride talking about himself and his business
Groom behaving more like a drunk best man and talking about sex (not in a jokey double extendre way, proper lads night out lewd stuff!)
Best man too drunk to do his speech, but everybody too polite to do anything about it (i.e. tell him he's had enough and put him to bed, he was falling over and knocking stuff over and everyone was just pretending it wasn't happening)

Oh and I went to one where the mother of the bride had had sex with the RC priest doing the ceremony. Her immediate family didn't know but a fair few in the congregation did

Pinkheart5915 · 23/04/2017 00:02

The bride being grateful all his exes let him go so she got to marry him, that was part of her speech

The final dance from dirty dancing being "recreated"

A very drunk bride, I mean seriously she could barely stand by 4pm they only married at 1pm Shock and reception went on until 1am. I still wonder if she was celebrating or drowning her sorrows!

TizzyDongue · 23/04/2017 00:02

An on the floor scrap over the bouquet. Two of the bridesmaids. Everyone else stood around awkwardly and baffled in their disbelief the two were seriously fighting over it.

TinselTwins · 23/04/2017 00:02

Drunk wedding band singer shouting at everyone because they werent dancing.

Reason nobody was dancing was because she kept stopping mid song to tell everyone off for not dancing!

TinselTwins · 23/04/2017 00:04

A half strip by the bride and bridesmaids to the groom and groomsmen.

eeeewwwwww

Bangsheadontable · 23/04/2017 00:05

TinselTwind - I read "during", not "doing". Now that really would be awkward!
