My Neighbour is mowing their grass. They have been at it since 8am.
I don't think this is outrageous. It's a good idea to do it before it gets hot.

meowli, That made me laugh....

PinkissimoAndPearls · 22/07/2016 08:34

Oh meowli that reminds me. DH and I bought bits for our DC in H and M today and at the till the staff member said they were 3 for 2 and we could pick two more items for free so DH went to get them. I asked if the people waiting behind us could pay while we waited. Staff member said they couldn't as they had scanned our items through. The couple said it didn't matter and smiled at me. I smiled back and made a "sorry" face, DH came back quickly and paid and we all said goodbye to each other cheerfully. It was nice.

DC like their new shorts and vests. They put them on straightaway. They fitted.

There was in a long queue of teenagers from the local high school in Subway this week. They were all well behaved and causing no trouble. At one point a boy of about 13 arrived and joined the queue in front of me. Being heavily pregnant I was leaning on the back of a chair next to me and a gap opened up in front just as he walked in. It probably looked like I was reserving the table rather than queuing. He wasn't being deliberately rude, I didn't bother mentioning it and he never noticed he'd done it. It was nice for him to stand with his friends rather than having to stand awkwardly by himself behind a pregnant woman. I waited an extra minute for my sandwich. All was fine.

My oldest and youngest insisted that they HAD to go out to play Pokemon Go at midnight, on Sun. We left the house at midnight and walked around the streets and through the local park, catching them and hatching eggs and all the other stuff that makes no sense to me. There were young Pokemon zombies everywhere. We got home at 2am and bed at 3am. I had to get up at 6.30. I was exhausted and had sore feet, the next day, while they lay in their beds and did nothing to help me when they got up.

I was delighted, as the youngest has SN, including autism, and the oldest is waiting to be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. The oldest very rarely leaves the house. We've been out every day since, though a lot earlier thank fuck

Sometimes I chat to other parents at the school gates. Sometimes I don't. Some of them seem to know each other quite well (I suppose you could call this a clique). Some dress smartly and others are scruffy. As far as I know no one cares.

practy · 22/07/2016 09:33

People always spell my name wrong. It is an unusual name. I sometimes correct them, but don't always bother.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 22/07/2016 09:41

Sometimes my MIL comes to stay. She gets on my nerves because we're very different people and haven't had years of living together to get used to each other. We both let stuff go.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 22/07/2016 09:42

I'm middle class.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 22/07/2016 09:44

The other day I did a maintenance wash on my washing machine and cleaned the filters on the dishwasher & vacuum cleaner.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 22/07/2016 09:44

Last week I had a big clear out. Now I have more space. I'm pleased.

Butteredparsnips · 22/07/2016 10:08

I just rung the GP receptionist to make an appointment. She was really friendly and offered me an appointment next week.

giraffe thanks for the prompt.

Baby napping so I have read mumsnet and subsequently also put my washing machine and dishwasher on a maintenance cycle.

Bonus idea to do right now - cleaning kettle and running rescaler through tommee tippee perfect prep and coffee machine.

Makes me happy.

ScarlettDarling · 22/07/2016 10:29

After school this afternoon, we're all taking the dc swimming. Everyone was invited, no one left out, lifts even offered for those who don't have cars etc. No one was offended or complained about cliques. Should be fun.

Mercedes519 · 22/07/2016 11:19

You'll never guess what JUST happened.

Someone parked on my drive. I didn't know who it was. I opened the door and asked (politely) if I could help. He apologised and said he'd meant to park next door. I said that's fine. I closed the door and carried on with my life.

Ds2 (4) has been watching YouTube videos since 8am.

It's the first day of the holidays and he's shattered so I'm leaving him to it. We'll go for a walk later. I feel no parental guilt whatsoever.

tasmaniandevil · 22/07/2016 11:45

When my nearly 12year old DD says "you don't care about me" I will stop running about sorting her school stuff out and feeding her guinea pig and give myself a good talking to.

paxillin · 22/07/2016 12:02

My dsis and I parent and eat very differently. When their kids visit us, our rules, our food, when ours visit them, their rules, their food. When we all visit our parents, their rules and food. Sometimes a mix of all. It works very well.

MorrisZapp · 22/07/2016 12:06

The doctor told me I would benefit from taking anti depressants.

So I did.

teacherwith2kids · 22/07/2016 12:25

DS has made rather a mess of a recent controlled assessment. We know why, and have discussed what happens next with his teacher. He can retake it, and his teacher will help him and has suggested how we can help him too.

PavlovianLunge · 22/07/2016 15:03

We've gone out without coats or umbrellas and now it's raining. I'd rather the sun was shining, but we won't drown and we'll dry off easily enough when we get in.

AlmaMartyr · 22/07/2016 15:04

A massive great works van has been parked in our private parking spaces all day Shock It's fine, I told them they could because DH and I are out at work all day with the cars. The workmen have been really friendly and grateful that we could help then out. They complimented my kittens and moved the van when I got home and needed to park. No big deal.

MrsHathaway · 22/07/2016 15:07

NDN is taking a big nearly-dead tree down at the front of his house. He knocked on the door to suggest I move my car a bit just in case.

I'll be sad to see it go, but it means a lot less leaf-sweeping come Autumn and it's his house after all.

I've been vaguely wondering if you still get jokes on ice lolly sticks. I don't really care if you do or you don't, I'm just mildly curious.
