My Neighbour is mowing their grass. They have been at it since 8am.
I don't think this is outrageous. It's a good idea to do it before it gets hot.

My DC liked their teachers this year.

My online shop was late. The delivery driver apologised. I said it was OK.

He refunded the substitution as DH didn't want it and gave it to us anyway.

teacherwith2kids · 21/07/2016 15:11

Term finished yesterday. Some people gave me presents, which was nice, and others didn't but gave me a hug, which was nice too. Several parents have been in to talk to me about how their child is getting on. We had interesting conversations, which are part of my job. They probably didn't agree with everything that I said. I didn't agree with everything that they said either. Nobody had to speak to the Head afterwards.

No strangers have ever parked on, or entirely blocking, my drive.

AIBU to ask every passing stranger what is wrong with my drive?

nuttymango · 21/07/2016 15:48

We're on holiday in a quiet log cabin. Then some people turned up and camped nearby and had a loud party which kept us all awake. I went over and took them some cans of beer and wished them a good party and then had a lovely night's sleep.

Saturday at 3am upstairs neighbour starts playing loud music and doing loud adult activities. At 3:30 I had enough so rang the buzzer and he turned the music off.

Same neighbour left his shower on last night, it overflowed and we had water coming through our door frames - not sure how!

I buzzed again, he was very apologetic and offered to have anything cleaned that was damaged.

We're still telling the landlord in case there's any lasting damage. Upstairs neighbour suggested it.

Hotter has got a sale on. I might go and have a look at their shoes. They're very comfortable and some are quite nice.

Nishky · 21/07/2016 19:14

When my gardener arrived I had to take my laptop and go upstairs to my hot and stuffy bedroom to work because of the noise.

I immediately identified this as a first world problem and didn't give it a second thought.

toadgirl · 21/07/2016 19:18

Children on their school holidays are outside squealing and making our terrier pup bark.

I've closed the windows and turned up the music a bit louder so he can't hear them.

He's stopped barking now and is chewing a stuffed monkey.

I hope the children enjoy their holidays and it doesn't rain too much for them this summer.

Mycatsabastard · 21/07/2016 19:32

The children three doors down have a paddling pool and have been in it shrieking with laughter all week. It's lovely.

Next doors dc have been off school for a while (private school) and have been stopping to talk to me while I've been sat enjoying the sun. I have chatted back and helped their mum carry stuff from the car to the front door. They are lovely neighbours.

We have been out with the family across the road twice this week to the beach and plan to see them again later. We all get on well.

I am not going to mention next door but one's dog who shits on my front garden every fucking day though

WoahSlowDown · 21/07/2016 19:52

I saw a thread on Mumsnet that was a bit pointless. I closed the thread and looked at another one.

Sleepybeanbump · 21/07/2016 20:53

Two neighbours have simultaneously spent the summer having a kitchen extension and a loft conversion built.

It hasn't been that bad. I've still enjoyed my garden and the builders have kept sociable hours and not played music.

Sleepybeanbump · 21/07/2016 21:13

Oh also...

I've met loads of really nice people through having baby DS. Everyone is supportive and non-competitive. We mostly talk about babies and I might not have that much in common with them otherwise but we have a laugh and do stuff together and share information. Some are well groomed, some aren't. We all do different things in terms of sleeping/ feeding / weaning /going back to work etc and no on else really cares. We happily share our parenting fails with each other.

It's really nice.

Nishky · 21/07/2016 21:28

I have handled a situation badly and upset my 13 year old son and possibly made it worse for him.

I have decided to accept that I can not be perfect and that I can not change what I have done.

This thread may actually be life changing for me Shock

TwuntingCat · 21/07/2016 22:41

My next door neighbour has children with her DP, he is a hands on dad but doesn't live with them, I have no problem with this.

practy · 21/07/2016 23:31

A friend got very worked up about something petty. I laughed at her. We carried on being friends.

MrsJayy · 21/07/2016 23:40

Dd2 booked her first tattoo today its her body not mine her sister booked her 3rd and holds down a very responible job its ok they are not retrobates

MrsJayy · 21/07/2016 23:45

Oh and 3 kids were playing outside my house earlier kicking about with scooters and shrieking it was nice to see them having fun i didnt even bother when they scooted onto our drive

buckingfrolicks · 22/07/2016 00:00

I listened to The Archers tonight and wondered what was happening to Helen as we have not heard from her for a few days.

I am prepared to carry on listening while the story unfolds.

buckingfrolicks · 22/07/2016 00:03

My cat brought a dead mouse into my bedroom. I didn't shout for my DP but
picked it up by the tail and dropped it out of the window because we live in the country and an owl, rat or fox will eat it.

I love mice so I feel rather sad for the mouse who is now dead, but my cat loves me and killing mice is what some cats do even with a ginormous bell on their collar

meowli · 22/07/2016 01:02

I was behind someone at the checkout today and I noticed that their basket was full of ready meals. The stickers said 3 for 2. I was a bit Shock at this, because I hadn't been down the chilled goods aisle, and had missed the special offer.
