My Neighbour is mowing their grass. They have been at it since 8am.
I don't think this is outrageous. It's a good idea to do it before it gets hot.

We went out for dinner and my kids took their iPads. They were on them till our food arrived then they came off them and had a chat while we ate. The waitress said "I wish we'd had had these when we were kids!" I agreed. I didn't feel guilty about it or force my kids to sit without devices for the meal just because I thought they should.

MypocketsarelikeNarnia · 20/07/2016 23:36

I asked friend 1 to come over after school today and then saw friend 2 and mentioned it to him. I forgot friend 1 was childminding child x and didn't know friend 2 was looking after child y. That's eight children in the paddling pool. I was glad I had popped lots of potatoes in to bake.

Child x was sad because she didn't have a swimming costume and everyone else did so friend 2 popped home and picked one up for her. What a nice afternoon it was.

My decorator used my toilet ( he may even have had a crap in there ).

I wasn't bothered.

Love this thread!

Went out with a group of mums from dc's school for end of year drinks. All from the year group invited. Loads turned up. No funny sideways looks. No back stabbing. No one got seriously pissed. Everyone had a good time.

Shall I LTBs?

cunningf0x · 20/07/2016 23:47

I went to Sainsburies today with my daughter and parked in parent and child parking. I noticed the man next to me also in parent and child parking who only parked there as he was carrying a heavy object. I smiled and got on with my day.

I just folded up some towels from the dryer and stacked them on the sofa ready to take to the linen cupboard to put away. The dog jumped up on the sofa and is using them as a pillow. I will wait till he gets down then put them away then. I won't rewash them, they don't need it.

My SIL is annoying, I don;t think she is keen on me either. We are polite to each other at family gatherings.

PalacePalacePalace · 21/07/2016 00:21

I didn't get invited to my ex - bosses leaving party, even though I worked with and propped her up for years.

Doesn't matter I never liked her much.

And I'll catch up with other former colleagues that I do like, another time.

meowli · 21/07/2016 00:29

I was out for lunch with a group of colleagues yesterday. I ordered the fish, and one of them remarked mildly that she thought I was a vegetarian. I said yes I was mostly, but I sometimes ate fish. No-one rebuked me, or said that I was only allowed to call myself a pescetarian, then. In fact no-one seemed to care at all, and got on with ordering their own meals.

NatalieRushman · 21/07/2016 00:34

I babysit my friends' dc sometimes for free. I don't have dc for them to reciprocate. I don't think my friends are being cheeky.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 21/07/2016 02:47

Apologies, I haven't RTWFT but, enough to get the point.

Where the hell are you lot on the other days on the other threads?

PageStillNotFound404 · 21/07/2016 05:33

My friend has posted several photos of herself on holiday on Facebook this week - by the pool, drinking cocktails etc.

I'm glad she's having a lovely time. Her hotel looks very nice.

I was invited to a wedding last month that meant I had to stay over in a hotel. The bride and groom had enclosed a poem asking for money in the invitation.

I wrote a cheque for an amount I could afford as a gift and booked a room. The wedding was very enjoyable. The DJ at the evening reception was particularly good so I had a jolly time dancing with the bride and some other friends for part of the evening. I've since had a lovely thank you card telling me what they're putting the money towards. I hope it doesn't take them too long to save up for it.

When we were ttc I took a pregnancy test. It was a faint line so I waited a few more days.

TrespassesW · 21/07/2016 06:24

My eldest child finished his first year of school yesterday. I wasn't emotional.

Forgetmenotblue · 21/07/2016 06:34

My mum phones me most days. She often gives me mad advice based on how life was when she was young. I listen and say thank you, then do what I want to anyway. I know she loves me and wants to be helpful.

I'm going to stay in contact with her.

Playduh · 21/07/2016 06:40

I'm going to IKEA today. I already know what I'm going to buy.

Mercedes519 · 21/07/2016 06:59

My DH has a hobby which costs money and takes time outside the house. I love seeing him enjoying himself.

We talk about when he does his hobby so it fits around our family time and gives both of us our own time so it doesn't cause resentment.

Lostlight · 21/07/2016 07:37

I have very babyish nicknames for my ds 1 and 2 which I use in the house sometimes.
Yesterday I had a garden full of teens playing on our trampoline and I called in ds 1 for something and inadvertently used his nickname. His friends giggled and he put his arm round my shoulders and told them how much he loves his dear old mum. He calls me the matriarch.

christinarossetti · 21/07/2016 07:39

There may have been someone in one of the parent and child parking bays without child seats in their car.

I don't know this however, as I saw that they were full and parked elsewhere.

Tagetes · 21/07/2016 08:36

I got on a train home last night which was so packed and hot I could hardly breathe. People were a bit grumpy. I put up with it because I knew I only had 2 stops until I changed onto another one which would have air conditioning. It did and I was quite cool by the time I got home.

motherinferior · 21/07/2016 08:42

There are some aspects of my kids' school that are far from perfect. But it seems to be fine overall and I'm sure they'll be OK.

motherinferior · 21/07/2016 08:44

DP went to a conference which meant staying overnight recently. I asked if there were any attractive young colleagues there. He said yes, actually, in a cheerful manner. I said that was nice for him and we talked about something else.

itmustbemyage · 21/07/2016 09:22

A friend came round at the weekend without phoning a week in advance. The house was a bit untidy she didn't care, I didn't care. I told her to put the kettle on while I cleared the kids stuff off the coffee table. We had a great chat, coffee and she bought cake with her.

CuboidalSlipshoddy · 21/07/2016 09:40

I can make a flask of iced coffee for my lunch box much cheaper than buying it in Costa. But I haven't got staff to pay and a building to rent for the purpose.
