Oh, personality-wise AC would not suit me at all as he's one of those driven, marathon-running types. & his partner is very sporty too. Whereas I am....not. To put it mildly.
AC isn't my usual type TBH, but when you see him in the flesh he just has 'it'. Or did.

My other type is yer be-spectacled intellectual arthur miller sortathing. I can absolutely see why Marilyn went for him...

lol! he's got a good enough self-esteem to have his own website, forum, blog, books, documentary and column in the national press...
maybe you're right, though. which rather reminds me why i've disliked his writing for the past couple of decades. a compulsive self-promoter with low self esteem who can't handle being questioned... such a cliche.

Should say don't know him as a friend, but have worked with him a few times. I liked him and I think he's funny.

well, i have recently found out that a friend of mine worked with both him and his wife and he says that both are nice but he is utterly at a loss to explain why either would have contacted me or posted on MN. he proposed cocaine abuse as one possible explanation.

Just checked, yes AC used to drink, no idea if he does AA or not but hoe doesn't drink now May post this picture of him on the hot and sweaty AC thread. Can you imagine him berating you for something he hadn't read? I think not!

WWW I think AC is a prime example of exactly the sort of paranoid egomaniac who would berate you for something he hadn't read.

He's definitely in the "if you haven't said you love me then you must hate me and I can't stand that so I will destroy you" camp! Just remembering his appearing unannounced on Channel 4 News to wag his finger at Jon Snow and shout about how he was misunderstood...Messianic delusions of control and importance there I thought.

I was greatly enjoying this thread until it descended into 'thinking womens crumpet'.

Anyway I'm (generally) with the Ronson appreciation club. 'Them' was great and he's a standard bearer for Beta males the world over! Oh, and he does derive most of the humour in his columns by making himself look bad.

Also Aitch, he had a thread in his columns detailing his enmity with Patrick Marber, so he doesn't solely restrict his attntions to the neighbours. Still crap to send you a mail but it must be hard to resist rising to the bait - look how many threads on here descend into vitriol.

what bait? he's a prick. he hadn't seen the thread. even someone as self-obsessed as JR should think '...probably best to wait until i've actually seen what's been written before i rise to that bait wot i have not yet seen'.

i honestly can't believe that you JR fans aren't seeing that as the most salient point. he sent an email and hadn't seen a thing. he's the big journalist, i'm a complete stranger. he is a bully and a wanker of the highest order. and i'd be happy to say that to his simpering gurly face.
