Yes, Aitch, WL is (or was - haven't seen him for aeons) both bulky AND hairy (not so dissimilar to DH in those respects...hmmm...). And, like JR, he is neurotic as hell - you should have heard his reasons for not driving a car: hugely complicated scenarios inevitably concluding in his being tarmac jam - BUT not neurotic in a whingey way.

JR's fateful mistake was to send you that email. He should just have thought "oh, FFS," & left it alone. Especially if we're all as weird as his wife & the Guardian forum seem to think we are...

Anyway, regarding fancying weird people in the media, in the late '80s I worked at the Daily Mirror & thought Alistair Campbell was a bit of a dish - & I wasn't alone

Qutie enjoyed Lucy Mangan's last column on the 'Britishness' of our schools. But usually she is so chock full of over the top metaphors and her own superciliousness that i find her a bit annoying.

i tend to tire of her after the third par. too many words.

A Campbell is a bona fide dish, but a horrifying creature all the same. was pmsl when rory bremner said that he'd nobbled him at a press launch to point out he'd lost weight and that the fat guy playing him on the show would have to go.

Sadly, AC is widely accepted to be lush, including by himself. This makes him entirely unlush in my opinion. He might even give JR a run for his money as self-obsessed nana of the week.

erm i do quite like him. he seems very decent and clever. although wierdly shy when i met him a zillion years ago.
