NO nanny eh ? Then get DH to do it, or failing that give DCs carrier bags and adopt the same approach as for your packing,( though probably night before rather than 5 mins before departure...), then give them a lovely time at airport....

Wish Elaine would come back, I saw faint indications of a great potential MNetter beginning to emerge.

Now I have to say this thread has shocked me, I always laughed at Jon's columns (the soup-eating one was a classic) but that was when I assumed they were ironic, tongue-in-cheek vignettes pointing fun at all of our little insecurities and paranoias by showcasing his own and inviting us to laugh/feel solidarity. If I have to assume it was all SERIOUS and I was hoodwinked and he is really a twonk who would actually take offence like this - well, my world just rocked on its axis. Another hero bites the dust, damn!

exactly oenophile, i've always assumed that it was a persona and that he couldn't possibly be such a phenomenal prat in RL so i have felt completely at liberty to detest the Whinging Twerp persona for decades now.
