With a human skull in the garden?

Slippersandacuppa · 07/05/2016 20:45

Because I've never been in this situation before.

We've been tidying up the garden and have piles of rubble all over the place. One of our rickety old fences borders a graveyard (very old belonging to ancient church) and I'm assuming the skull sort of drifted under our fence and has been near the top of the soil for a while. I hope.

I've googled but can't seem to find much info. I'll be contacting the parish council on Monday but wondered if it warrants a call to 101 (or whatever it is) to register it just in case it's not a graveyard wanderer Confused

Anyone had a similar experience?!

We used to have a skull at school in the art department. It was called Kylie.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 08/05/2016 07:21

What time will you be calling 101? (What time shall I check back later!)

MewlingQuim · 08/05/2016 07:36

I'd love a human skull Blush

I gave my brother a sheep's skull for a birthday present once. He is an artist and loved it, it features in quite a few of his pictures Smile

Maybe DS1 did return it to the garden... But it came back!

teastory I'm glad I didn't read that last night

Have just spoken to police lady. She put me on hold to talk to her supervisor as they don't come across this situation much. She asked all our details, whether it appeared old, where it is now (she told me to keep it somewhere safe and sensible) and she's sending someone out. (He's still in the box)

She giggled and said it isn't a matter of urgency but someone will come out today or tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted.

Oh, and I might have told her his name by mistake Blush

This belongs in Classics.

They're here. I left the husband outside answering questions and come in to 'make tea' update you all

Two police officers. One talking on his shoulder phone thing. Referred to CID and crime scene team, who will most likely want to come out and take photos, gather evidence.

Worked out well as DS1 was about to thump DD so we told him about the handcuffs, tasers etc.

Poor old YS. He's just sitting in his box wanting to be reunited with his body. The closest tombstone appears to say Neil but we can't be sure.

This'll make the neighbours talk!

Pigeonpost · 08/05/2016 10:16

Ooooh, this is getting good! Proper CSI! Grin

saffronwblue · 08/05/2016 10:17

Great for ds to think you have the police on speed dial for future behaviour.

MakingJudySmile · 08/05/2016 10:20

I'd say your DS will get a reduced sentence, on account of his ages, so don't worry too much if it dates less than 4 years.

Slippersandacuppa · 08/05/2016 10:22

Thanks judy

And me?

I really want a picture! My best friend is obsessed with skulls... She's a radiographer and bones are her life Grin

MiffleTheIntrovert · 08/05/2016 10:42

I like this thread.

I was once involved with a housing development where human remains were found mid build. It was years ago so can't remember the details but I remember some people who had committed to buy (post exchange IIRC) wanting to pull out. Can't remember the outcome.

Sorry that was a bit of a boring anecdote really, wasn't it.

MiffleTheIntrovert · 08/05/2016 10:44

PS to make it slightly more interesting, the development always felt a bit weird to me. Once when I visited there was a dead bird carefully balanced on the handle of the external door.

Pipbin · 08/05/2016 10:46

I think you shouldn't tell anyone in real life. Just act all mysterious when the scene of crime people turn up.

eatyouwithaspoon · 08/05/2016 10:47

Next door to where I lived before bones where found in the very old thick cob wall. I now live near a Chapel and grave yard which we are slightly down hill from. There are graves inches away from our garden wall, I hope we dont get any visiters!

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 08/05/2016 10:47

This thread is brilliant

not placemarking at all

MakingJudySmile · 08/05/2016 10:47

Yep as pooka says you're going down - behave well and you'll be out in 7 I'd think.
