Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

OP put your car where NARs was !!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 18/02/2015 11:27

Maybe you should invest in two of these?
www.ultrasecuredirect.com/acatalog/Rent-My-Parking-Space-Parking-Post.html
If you put them far enough down your parking space, even if she drives in, you could pop them up and leave her there indefinitely.

www.ultrasecuredirect.com/acatalog/Battery_Powered_Remote_Control_Automatic_Parking_Bollard.html
More expensive option but she is clearly going to be a royal PITA.

notnaice · 18/02/2015 11:30

Sorry to be sensible but the only way she'll learn is if the op or NAR park in her space close up to her garage so she can't open it. You just have to smile sweetly and say "oh sorry, I though we were swapping spaces"

It's a lot less aggressive than other thoughtful suggestions given, even though I want this drama to continue for as long as possible

It's better than any shit drama the BBC can produce.

HowCanIMissYouIfYouWontGoAway · 18/02/2015 11:32

I suppose it's possible, Christmas, that when the OP and the neighbour both separately told the woman that they own the spaces she's parking in, that she didn't believe them and thought they just prefer to park there and are lying about it being marked on the deeds. Anything's possible.

So when she gets the letter, if she does think everyone is lying to her because they like to park in a particular place perhaps she will accept that they legally own the land and it's not just a preference.

Staywithme · 18/02/2015 11:32

That's really bloody inconsiderate of you OP! How dare you leave the house when this is going on. Sad I brought my iPad with me so I could spend 40mins catching up while DH is having an MRI scan and you GO OUT! Really! now breathing in out in out sob

LlamaLove · 18/02/2015 11:35

I may have to go out and do something this afternoon. I cannot take the frustration of refreshing and there being no update.

Surely there must be another Mumsnetter on the same estate who could update us???

Blatherskite · 18/02/2015 11:47

Desperate to know what's happened!

Iamcuriouslyskanky · 18/02/2015 11:48

Any chance the OP can get a webcam up for us? I'm loving this, it's ace.

nickdrakeslovechild · 18/02/2015 11:50

A webcam! Bloody fantastic idea.

Lweji · 18/02/2015 11:52

A webcam! Bloody fantastic idea.

Thank you! Wink

lunar1 · 18/02/2015 11:59

I can't believe you've gone out nanny, surely this is what sick days from work are for!

KitKat1985 · 18/02/2015 12:25

OP is there any way you could put birdseed in your parking space if rude bitch parks in it = her car covered in bird crap.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/02/2015 12:41

Wait, what? My DH is gone so I can be on MN all day without seeing cat's bum mouth from him! I was planning on sitting with Wine and just refreshing this thread for updates. And now OP has the temerity to carry on with her life?

How rude.

I'm a bit concerned that any kind of action other than repeatedly telling her not to park in other people's spaces, or blocking her in if she does, might result in her retaliatory action?
I've forgotten if we've been given an idea of her age, but she doesn't go out to work does she? so has time to make mischief when others aren't around.

Get that CCTV!

landrover · 18/02/2015 13:00

Thanks Enrique, I hadn't changed my customise settings x

Staywithme · 18/02/2015 13:01

OP has the temerity to carry on with her life?

Grin

I can see a new thread from Nannyplum "I started a thread and now Mumnetters have turned on me Sad" Grin

SirChenjin · 18/02/2015 13:03

This is ridiculous. I have logged onto MN in my lunch break and there is no update from the OP. Very poor show Nanny. I'm starting to understand why your neighbour is behaving the way she is, quite frankly Grin

Jux · 18/02/2015 13:04

As the spaces are owned and she is occupying without permission then isn't that Trespass? You can call 101 and report her. They will (eventually) come around and have a word with her. She may give a shit then.

Or you could charge her for using your land. Offer her a bargain of £25 a day, x2 as she's parking across two spaces.

You might make a few quid out of her.

FarrowUndBall · 18/02/2015 13:17

Overinvested!

icelollycraving · 18/02/2015 13:27

Selfish. I've popped on in my lunch break hoping for updates of the tubby parker. Angry

KissMyFatArse · 18/02/2015 13:30

Apologies op to my selfish statement I am about to make, but I'm hoping the old bat continues to park on the spaces for just a couple more days...

Just so I can get watch (read)what unravels. Parking threads keep me glued!

jeanmiguelfangio · 18/02/2015 13:35

Totally marking my place- NAR you are a mumsnet legend, maybe he could come on and update us?!

Cataline · 18/02/2015 13:44

NannyPlum What could possibly be more important than keeping us updated?!

TheMaddHugger · 18/02/2015 13:59

whispers

Please Plum, Update. Its 12.30 am and I need sleep and my f5 button is wearing out.

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee Flowers

AmateurSeamstress · 18/02/2015 14:04

OP said she'll be out for most of today. Give her a break people!
