It's driving me crazy Grin

Here's a link to the John Lewis advert- take a look at the old movie showing on the television at 1 minute in, please.

Everybody thinks it's from It's A Wonderful Life, the embrace you can see at 3:21 in this clip:

But it really really isn't.

Yes.
She has an arch.

June Travis doesn't, still my favourite.

She does look lovely though.

Ronald Reagan and Ann Sheridan in Kings Row.

BOFster · 08/11/2014 20:28

Nothing like Ann Sheridan and her bouffant hair, sadly.

I also checked out Deanna Durbin in Christmas Holiday- no dice Sad

Shirley temple? a teen Shirley, she looks very young the girl in the shot. may ask my film buff uncle.

BuckskinnedAstronaut · 08/11/2014 20:42

Ronald Reagan did costar in something with Shirley Temple, I remember from my reading IMDB in-depth research on this yesterday.

Nanadookdookdook · 08/11/2014 20:48

If you look at the back view of Ronald Reagan's head in this movie I think it could be him

Coumarin · 08/11/2014 20:57

Shirley Temple and Ronald Reagan were in That Hagen Girl together. Never watched it though. Or heard of it tbh.

Oh hang on, the synopsis on wiki says she plays a teen girl who is rumoured to be RR's character's daughter.

So probably no romantic clinches.

Birra · 08/11/2014 21:03

Cary grant was in a movie with Shirley Temple?

BorderBinLiner · 08/11/2014 21:05

These women are brilliant, I'm never going to look like Hollywoods current crop, but give me a fitted jacket and a clean face may need to lose an achievable two stone and that could be me snogging a young Ronald Reagan.

fanjodisfunction · 08/11/2014 21:06

my uncle is on the case now. I'm searching my self to, can't get Rita Hayworth out my head though its the cheek bones

SorrelForbes · 08/11/2014 21:15

Reagan was very acceptable looking in his youth wasn't he Blush

OttiliaVonBCup · 08/11/2014 21:17

I was too embarrassed to post that Sorrel but it did cross my mind.

SorrelForbes · 08/11/2014 21:26

I'm the MNer who fancies Pete Campbell from Mad Men. I'm pretty much beyond embarrassment Grin

I have however just spent a pleasant few minutes browsing pics of Gregory Peck. He really was gorgeous wasn't he?

Gregory Peck was textbook gorgeous.
This thread has been an education.

Barbara Bel Geddes?

SorrelForbes · 08/11/2014 21:37

Barbara Bel Geddes got to kiss Howard Keel in Dallas Envy

HamAndPlaques · 08/11/2014 21:39

shameless place-marking for the answer!

Coumarin · 08/11/2014 21:41

Blimey, Gregory Peck was a bit handsome wasn't he? Blush

A lot of the actors from that era were gorgeous.

wigglesrock · 08/11/2014 21:43

Gregory Peck was my childhood crush Smile, he still is. I spent a lot of time as a child with my nana, we watched a lot of films. I think Roman Holiday is one of my favourite films ever. I'm also partial to a bit of Montgomery Clift.

AliceLidl · 08/11/2014 21:46

I always get Gregory Peck confused with George Peppard for some reason. It's not that they look like each other, just that to me, they are the same person. It's their fault, for having the same initials and for there being a character called Peck in the A Team. It's unreasonably confusing of them.

SorrelForbes · 08/11/2014 21:48

We watched a lot of musicals when I was growing up. Howard Keel is still my No.1 crush. 6'4" of Texan man!

George Peppard was fit in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Hard to believe watching The A Team.

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 08/11/2014 21:53

I was always a jimmy Stewart fan. Him in shop around the corner and Philadephia story and Harvey... Just gorgeous!
