Stupid Facebook selling.

Real post I've seen this week.

"Got some cheap stuff for sale if you want anything"

Cue 20 posts along the lines of;

"Have you got a patio heater hun?"

"No sorry"

Have you got a wheelbarrow?

No, haven't got a wheelbarrow.
Xx

3 days later the thread is still going strong. 20 people have been disappointed that the seller doesn't have what they want and the seller has made no effort to make any suggestion what she does have.

I've just had a look at this mornings offerings.

Someone is selling a 100 inch long x 40 inch wide off cut carpet, pink with glitter bits.

Everything else seems to be for e-cigarettes or tooth whitening. The tooth whitening advert has been posted about six times and has a photo of some lips, again covered in pink glitter, and the very white teeth are for some reason biting a (fake) pearl and crystal earring.

I've seen my first Frozen seller and someone has a piano for sale £100 or nearest offer. Someone offered £60 and got turned down and someone else has posted to say "I have one in imac condition was my granddads but passed away this yr need it gone xx" Bit cheeky, advertising on someone else's advert Grin

There is a man selling 90 glass paperweights, £200 the lot or £10 each. Not sure about the maths on that one. He's been trying to sell them for months now. Feel like telling him to give it up.

There is also loads of knock off Frozen crap, bought from Poundland and selling for £10. Feel like commenting to alert the idiots people buying that's it's not proper Disney stuff.

AliceLidl · 30/10/2014 08:44

Someone is also selling a "woo table" on ours. Grin

I don't know what makes this particular table especially "woo" but if anybody is looking for a table that bit more woo than the norm in time for halloween, this seller is open to offers.

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 30/10/2014 08:51

Grin at the woo table! I love this thread!!

lemontwist · 30/10/2014 08:56

Someone on ours is constantly posting ads for handpainted Frozen artwork. They are white frames with a bit of glitter stuck on with badly cut out and glued pictures which look they they're taken from a kids magazine. Ideal Christmas presents my arse!

There are repeated posts on the local freecycle of a tree, free to anyone who can come and dig it up. Its described as about 8ft tall, I do wonder why noone's taken them up on it for months Grin

askyfullofstars · 30/10/2014 08:58

Mine is currently full of cheapo card factory gift bags with pound shop frozen stuff in, selling as 'Frozen Hampers' £20.

It also seems to be turning into an auction site:

'Peppa pig bundle for sale offers please, highest bidder gets it' etc etc.

JuniperTisane · 30/10/2014 08:59

A *friend of a friend put an unwanted unused toy up for sale £10, accepted £5 for it then found out the buyer was her sister getting it for the same child for birthday. She had given the toy originally for the previous christmas and hadn't twigged it was the same bloody thing!

*not my friend, I hasten to add

shitatusernames · 30/10/2014 08:59

TracyBarlow I'm near you, just the other town, look how sensible has been spelt ha.

JuniperTisane · 30/10/2014 09:04

The frozen people here sell their tat for £4. You lot are getting rooked for £20.

Mrsjayy · 30/10/2014 09:07

What is a woo table

askyfullofstars · 30/10/2014 09:16

juniper, Bargain! Grin

We now have a lot asking for cheap hallowe'en costumes, they have been to all supermarkets, home bargains, b and m and not seen anything they like.

Well, where do they think that people who are selling this stuff would have got them from? Confused.

I always feel a bit Hmm when I see posts with things like, “Brand new Elsa Frozen dress with tags, bought for £35 (or whatever) in Disney yesterday but its too small, so will sell for £25”
Why lose a tenner selling something you could easily take back? I really don’t get it.

tinkerbellvspredator · 30/10/2014 09:23

Just had a look at my local page, one woman has a number of posts selling different items, dumbo DVD, shoes etc.

Oh yes and not forgetting 'The Star Whores trilogy' DVD.

Why would you sell porn under your real name in your local area - at least eBay is anonymous!

£15 btw if you're interested

OodneedsanOod · 30/10/2014 09:23

I see those a lot too. I assumed nicked ?

Mrsjayy · 30/10/2014 09:25

New with tags on just means new cos its nicked

Mrsjayy · 30/10/2014 09:27

star whores HA Grin

Apophenia · 30/10/2014 09:27

I guess there's a chance they live nowhere near a Disney shop. I've done this before, can't be bothered to drive 50 miles to take something back so sell it for a bit less than purchase price.

askyfullofstars · 30/10/2014 09:29

ahhhh ::penny drops::

askyfullofstars · 30/10/2014 09:30

I did think that Beaver, but this is a pretty small town and the town centre (and Disney) are about a fifteen min bus ride from anywhere in the town (does that even make sense, sorry?)

VivaLeBeaver · 30/10/2014 09:33

Nicked then. Grin

rainicorn thank you for that little gem - your post made me cry laughing and has set me up for the day! Grin

makemineabacardi · 30/10/2014 09:46

Recently someone was selling the Elsa dresses from Asda at twice the price - someone called her up on it and a massive bunfight ensued. It was hilarious. Grin

I had a real bit of luck last weekend - someone was selling a nice superhero costume for 4 on ours in DC's size. A woman got in before me (about 2 minutes before) but was trying to haggle the seller down to 3.50. This went on for ages as both seller and buyer weren't budging so eventually buyer gave up and I picked it up for 4. A really nice outfit and a bargain even at that price. I was very Hmm that the first buyer simply would not stretch that extra 50p. Oh well her loss my gain! Grin

The shit Frozen hampers are all over ours aswell.

Sleepybunny · 30/10/2014 10:06

AliceLidl, I suspect the bear maybe levitating. Possibly woo, unconfirmed. I'll check if she's also selling a table Grin
