Oh this has reminded me of so many things!

Our price record shops, I used to read nme and melody maker every week and order the top recommendations, it was when you had to just do it in trust you would like them.

Being obsessed with vinyl.

Making mix tapes for friends.

Britpop, Madchester, grunge, riot grrrl, brilliant guitar music.

Cherry red docs, I wish so much I had kept them.

Pizza hut and Macdonalds opening round here.

What everyone wants (west of Scotland chain of cheap cheap shops)

Back combing and hairs praying your fringe as high as it would go.

Meeting DH and dd1 arriving with four days of the 90s to go. Getting married. Doesn't seem possible it was all in Thr same decade that I started out in second year at school.

And black cherry Rimmel lipstick, it was the closest you could get to black in those days, and for green blue etc nail varnish you had to mail order from cosmetics to go Grin

Aaaah, I miss the 90s more the older I get. I was 10 in 1991, so it WAS my teens:

I remember:
White Musk and dewberry
Lip gloss in as many flavours as possible - I kept two for years that had the power to transport me back soooo vividly to particular places and times...
Glittery make up and nail varnish - esp glittery electric blue nail varnish!

I remember wearing flared cords and velvet jackets and DMs.
Later lots of crushed velvet and droopy ankle length grey skirts
Chokers
Mood rings!!
Record bags with things painted on them in nail varnish.
Shopping in Carnaby street and Kenny market
Kickers in winter, paladiums in summer - with your socks folded down inside so they wouldnt show!
clumpy platform boots and sandals
Wraparound skirts, crop tops, bunches,
Those horrible pull-on black pinstripe trousers!
Bay Trading, River Island, Shelleys, Faith
Wearing your hair up bit with a central parting and two stringy bits of hair hanging down at the front!!
Heather Shimmer!!
Superlash mascara
Check shirts over Tshirts
Strappy vests and dresses that looked like nighties

Smileys, cannabis leaves, yin and yang and sun moon and stars over everything.
Everyone having loads of studs in their ears.
Trolls (or were they earlier?)
Beanie babies
Athena posters
Those 'balls' in the Hammersmith Palais etc
'Getting off' with boys with curtains!
Magic eye!!

Had forgotten Point Horror!!!
Sweet Valley High (smuggling my best friend's copies in the house as my mum disapproved!)
Judy Bloom's Foreever
Mizz, Bliss, Just Seventeen

The Big Breakfast
Mel & Sue
Heartbreak High
SUNSET BEACH! (The turkey baster, anyone???)
Dawsons Creek....aaaaaah. Pacey Grin
Brookside lesbian kiss
Rikki Lake, Ellen, Roseanne
Saved by the bell
Bewitched
Genie in a bottle
Fresh Prince
TFI Friday
90210 - the proper version!

Mix tapes
Placebo
Pulp
Oasis
James
Savage Garden
Lightening Seeds
The Verve
the Shine albums
Wet wet wet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Backstreet boys, Five
Oh my god...Girl from Mars, yesss, and Size of a Cow!
Supergrass
Blur
Suede, Shed Seven, The Charlatans... too many to name!

Being on the phone to my mates pretty much all my waking hours, even if I'd just seen them, or was just about to see them

Having an obsessive intense crush on someone or other every single day from about 1995 onwards!

Ohhhh, I want to go back RIGHT NOW!

Passing notes to friends in school and drawing a peace sign, a heart, a smiley face, and a yin yang at the bottom of every one, which of course stood for peace, love, happiness, and harmony. 4-eva, naturally :o

Had forgotten about the two stringy hair bits in front! I had those, shimmer lipstick, and a ridiculously tight lycra green striped shirt with a turtleneck. Fetching! Then I tried to be grunge with ripped jeans, my dad's flannel shirt overa Cranberries tee, and bangs in my face. And angsty poetry. Still later I wore huge pants and tiny Hang Ten tshirts and lusted after the skater boys with their yo yos and hacky sacks and curtain hair. :o

I LOVE this thread! I have literally nodded at every single post and Google is going to get a bashing once I've finished typing this!

I can't believe thought that no one has mentioned Late Night Love with Graham Torrington! I believe it's still on now but the sound of GT's voice takes me right back to being 15 sat in my room surrounded by my posters of Paul Nicholls.

My So Called Life - I still love Jared Leto now!!
X Files (I was obsessed....you can tell from my username!)
Heather shimmer lipstick
dewberry spray from body shop
fruit of the loom jumpers
kickers shoes
checked shirts
shopping at tammy girl!
wella colour mousse
diffusing my curls
boybands
dawsons creek - pacey, sigh!
CK one - or the cheap knock off we used to buy from the market!
satin shirts - I had a shiny blue one and I thought I looked the bees knees. I recently found out that my elderly gran had the same shirt lol!!
radio one roadshows
those wedge trainers that the spice girls used to wear
all the boys having curtains
penpals
snogging boys down the local park!

The x-files mania.

Pedal pushers. My mum complained about them constantly. Not to mention the attractive kickers shoes.

I remember a geography teacher trying to look up what the latin name for 'supergrass' was during a lesson about habitats. She overheard someone talking about it...

This thread is fab!
Can anyone remember Castaway? Came in a green bottle with a yellow label and treated like alcoholic lilt. Loved that!
My clubbing outfit consisted of black dolly shoes, knee high Black socks, kilt and a shiny satin shirt (my favourite was my baby pink one). Bliss!

Ankle length gypsy skirts both floaty and their closer fitting high waisted bretheren which involved a lot of buttons.

Babydoll dresses.

Velour dresses.

That weird fabric which had a black base and then a metallic colour running through it. Always sheer, usually black and red or black and blue or gold.

Blouses with a tie waist.

Brown make up with a distinct orange hint (not just foundation). everything had it, eyeshadow, lipstick, blusher.

Tartan mini skirts.

Chunky heels.

Butterfly clips in all shapes and sizes. A seemingly natural progression from the closely related banana clip.

Back combing.

Wet look mousse.

Hair scrunched to within an inch of its life.

Dewberry and white musk.

Patchwork leather jackets.

Patchwork dresses.

Resurgence of paisley.

Body suits.

Cat suits.

Buttons. There was a real attention to buttons in the 90's. either chunky and out there or just sheer numbers. Everything had to have the buttons be some kind of feature.

Explosion in coloured jeans.

Huge jumpers.

DM's and all their various spin offs.

Really thick opaque black tights with everything.
