Weird things your body does, and you wonder if it happens to others too?

I know Im not the only one.

I cant even be arsed to name change, here goes.

Nervous fanny.

You know when someone falls - hard and cracks their chin or elbow or whatever, my stomach drops, I get a shot of anxiety that shoots through the pit of my stomach down to my fanny. Right in the middle of my fanny I get a horrible feeling of anxiety.

Its only started in the last few years, its really unpleasant. Its like a bolt of aniexty, and I ONLY get it when someone hurts themselves. Wtf is that all about?

Anyway, what weird shit does your body do? Confess.

Raw mushrooms give me hiccups too :o

Piccalilli2 · 20/07/2012 05:25

Loud noises make me blink hard. Makes it difficult to watch fireworks!

aurynne · 20/07/2012 07:17

Thank you God! there are other weird people ot there like me!!!!!

I have been getting the Alice in Wonderland syndrome since I was a child... back then I got it when I had a fever and not only I felt myself growing enormous, but I had obsessive thoughts of balls and objects getting enormous too, accompanied by a sense of total horror. I also heard distorted sounds, and very loud ones. It still happens to me occasionally, apparently at random... and the fear is so intense that i have to stop myself from running and screaming.

I have a couple of weird things that I haven't seen described here, anyone else?:

  1. Sometimes when I am watching TV of even thinking about somebody that someone else said, I feel the need to actually repeat it myself loud. When there are people around I feel very embarrassed, so sometimes I try to say it very quiet, with my mouth shut, and through my nose. Some years ago I found out that it is called "echolalia".
  1. When I eat something very cold, or when I breath very cold air, sometimes I get this really sharp, intense pain behind my eyes! It is really, really painful, but usually disappears after some seconds.
shhhgobacktosleep · 20/07/2012 07:44

coco and garlic Just to reassure he doesn't press my off button, well he did a few times when we accidentally discovered it as its so wierd, but it's not some sort of sex game Grin It's an awful sensation feeling trapped inside a body you can't move. I suffer with crippling migraines and him rubbing my skull until my meds kick in helps to stop me from being sick. I shall show him the pressure point link though as when I told him about this thread last night he laughed loudly at my hoping to find someone else as odd as me.

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 20/07/2012 07:49

I have endo metriosis and associated with my cycle I regularly get javelin arse, fanny pain and even shooting pains in my labia! Plus I get period pains in my left leg, all the way down to my foot.

I also get migraine with aura. I always know I'm getting a migraine cos when i look in the mirror I can't see my left eye, my hands don't feel like they're mine, I start to yawn and the right side of the roof of my mouth goes numb. And I lose all ability to string a sentence together. 'tis very odd. First time I had one I thought I was having a stroke!

shhhgobacktosleep · 20/07/2012 07:55

Your migraine sounds exactly like mine apart from the roof of the mouth bit. Oh and I also get the period pain right down my leg into my foot but mines the right leg.

Indith · 20/07/2012 08:04

When I get a cold my right nipple itches.

Going on the school run now so I shall leave reading and comparing til I get back!

IsSpringSprangedYet · 20/07/2012 08:09

Another twitchy eyed, javelin arse here!!

(javelin arse can FUCK OFF!!)

IsSpringSprangedYet · 20/07/2012 08:13

Oh, and I get an itchy thumb, on the meaty bit on your actual hand. I am always scratching with the fingernails of the same hand..... if any of that makes sense.

And itchy knuckles.

Acumenon · 20/07/2012 08:17

I do that, aurynne. The repeating words thing. Or sometimes I just get stuck on a portion of text and go back and forth on it, sort of acting it out. I call it pattern capture, because it happens with all sorts of things: sound sequences, some textures or fabrics, moving water, gestures, omg, all sorts of things. Blush

I am an extremely weird person though, just in general. I tend to take myself off to the loo or something if I get completely overwhelmed, or try to refer it somewhere so it's less embarrassing, like moving my tongue around in the pattern inside my mouth.

Ephiny · 20/07/2012 08:24

'Javelin arse' is proctalgia fugax surely?

Anyone else sneeze in bright sunlight?

ChuckUFarley · 20/07/2012 08:26

I was just going to write about restless legs but it's upthread. I hate it. I have to get up and walk around and try to have a wee.

I also have nervous fanny and javelin arse.

I get a weird feeling on the right of my abdomen as well. It feels like a section of me is missing until I touch it. But as soon as I take my hand away it disappears again.

And taking a crap makes me sneeze.

Longdistance · 20/07/2012 08:39

I know when it's cold, my nips go hard first.

I can bend just the first joints in my fingers, without bending the others.

I have an odd nobbly bit in one of my finger joints, that I injured as a teen, which over the years has somehow disappeared Confused

tryingtoleave · 20/07/2012 08:57

This thread is making me feel like I have very well behaved nether regions.

I do get a very intense, tingling feeling in my forehead when I eat some kinds of chilied food. It makes me screw my eyes up, but it is fairly pleasurable.

AngryFeet · 20/07/2012 09:15

Oh my god I thought I was the only freak with the nervous fanny syndrome! I get it quite a lot though - if I get properly frightened like looking down from heights or on rollercoasters or if one of the kids runs into the road. Very strange indeed...

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 20/07/2012 09:22

Ephiny yy to sneezing in sunlight (the photic sneeze reflex, according to our learned friend, Google Grin )

If I have a sneeze coming that I think needs a little 'help', I turn on the light or look at the sun. Sorted.

Oh, excellent googling there, SoftKitty! The Wikipedia entry could have been written from your heart-popping post.

Shhh, you've found more than a few people at least as weird as you Grin

littlemachine · 20/07/2012 09:50

A few of these for me - mint and sunlight sneezes, sleep orgasms, sleep paralysis, sat in invisible water syndrome.

When someone is physically close to me who I don't want to be, I get a weird feeling in my left hip, like really sensitive skin.

Since being pregnant, I still sometimes get superhuman sense of smell. I can smell everything in the world at the same time (so it feels anyway). If it happens at night I have to put karvol drops on my pillow so I can only smell that.

littlemachine · 20/07/2012 09:52

Oh yes I get repetitive phrase syndrome as well! Often it's foam banana.

I often get a feeling in my lower (and sometimes upper) abdomen that feels exactly like a baby kicking. DH says it wind but it's not like any wind I've ever known, it's identical to kicks.

I don't grow armpit hair, I never have, my pits are completely bald. The ont exception is when I'm pregnant and I get a couple of wisps.

Anaesthetics don't last long on me. I have an EMCS with DD and the spinal lasted long enough for the surgery (thankfully) but completely wore off not long after, within minutes of getting to recovery I had movement back. When I got a filling at my last dentist appointment the numbing injection wore off and had to be topped up, that lasted long enough to do the filling but it wore off again before I'd even left the building. It's now in my notes but I wonder if anyone else has this? My cousin has it too (her spinal wore off mid-CS though).

I also get twitchy eye, nervous fanjo, and javelin arse. I get the finger blisters too.

My cycle is bizarre. I have four weeks and a period then six weeks and a period, then four, then six and so on. It was like this when I first started my period at 13, then went all weird when I went on the pill at 21, vanished entirely for three years, then went back to its original 4-6-4-6 pattern after DS was born. I only ever pregnant during the six week cycle and never the four week one.

CBear6 · 20/07/2012 10:06

littlemachine, I've Neve lost my pregnancy heightened sense of smell or taste.

marge2 · 20/07/2012 10:07

I can pull the tendon in my wrist up towards my elbow onto the 'wron' side of my arm, and when I let it go it you can see it snaking back accross. Freaked loads of people out with that one.

I get the 'womb clench' anxiety thing too.

If I slip, like in socks on a very slippery floor, but don't fall, I get a really intense tingling in the palm of my hands, a bit like the boob 'let down' feeling. If I do fall it doesn;t happen.

If I see a big spider my fists clench of their own accord
