Weird things your body does, and you wonder if it happens to others too?

I know Im not the only one.

I cant even be arsed to name change, here goes.

Nervous fanny.

You know when someone falls - hard and cracks their chin or elbow or whatever, my stomach drops, I get a shot of anxiety that shoots through the pit of my stomach down to my fanny. Right in the middle of my fanny I get a horrible feeling of anxiety.

Its only started in the last few years, its really unpleasant. Its like a bolt of aniexty, and I ONLY get it when someone hurts themselves. Wtf is that all about?

Anyway, what weird shit does your body do? Confess.

A few days after I've been really stressed one of my eyelids twitches massively for a week or so.

Whenever I crouch down, my knees click really, really loudly with a grinding crunching sound. It started when I was 15.

If I'm surprised or see or feel like I/someone else had a near miss from a nasty accident, my armpits sting momentarily.

Sometimes if I'm really hungry and I grab a biscuit/cracker/something small to eat, my mouth oversalivates and it stings at the back of my mouth.

hatesponge · 19/07/2012 23:28

yy to javelin arse

i used to get the finger blisters a lot as a young child, but I have probably only had them 3 or 4 times as an adult.

A weird one I have - which I think is also allergy related - is that strong cheese gives me a weird tingly feeling in my cheeks just below my eyes. I had never heard of anyone else having this (I remember telling my mum when I was little and she was like this Hmm) til a few weeks ago when DS1 was eating some Cathedral City and said his cheeks felt funny!

doinmummy · 19/07/2012 23:28

I sometimes get a tight feeling across my scalp as if my head is shrinking and then my eyebrows raise up on their own.

AfternoonDelight · 19/07/2012 23:30

I've just googled Alice In Wonderland syndrome - I didn't realise that's what it was when I was a child. I used to be terrified at night because I thought I was shrinking/swelling up :(

I also get the moving itches.

I can't clean my ears without coughing or choking.

garlicbutter · 19/07/2012 23:31

shh, tell DH to go easy Shock Pressure Points (sorry for strange martial arts website, was the first one I found)

kissyfur · 19/07/2012 23:31

Panda/fluff etc I used to get that feeling as a teenager! Can't believe there is a name for it!!

Also if I poke my finger right into my belly button I get a weird feeling inside my fanny at the top, like it's connected or something?!? Don't get it when I'm pregnant tho, weird!

WhatALoadOfBollocks · 19/07/2012 23:34

nervous fanny yes! it first started when I was little on a Sunday night when I remembered I hadnt done my homework naughty me--
when I do my pelvic floor exercises very rarely it hurts my right arm Hmm is my Danny and arm connected?? Trying to remember the song from being young - and the thirty boned connect the leg bone, and the fanny bones connected to the arm bone :)

Mindyourownbusiness · 19/07/2012 23:35

l get a similiar thing to nervous fanny but a horrible sort of tensing in my bottom when really stressed. Very painful and feels as if something has been shoved up not that l know what that feels like you understand . But it's horrible like a spasm or gripping pain.
DH says they should name it after me as l am a pain in the arse myself .

I also get restless legs syndrome mainly at night when l'm in bed and it keeps me awake for hours - really weird - it's like you dont know what to do with your legs - like the feeling you get when youve been sitting on the floor for example and they've gone numb and the feelings just coming back.

I also get [walking medical dictionary] terrible itchy shins - again when lying in bed at night. And l mean really eye watering itchy aswell. I just want to claw at my shins. It's like hundreds of fleas are crawling on them. Weird and again bloody well keeps me from getting to sleep for hours sometimes - the more you scratch them (and l'd defy anyone not to) the more they itch.

Apart from all that l'm fine Grin

WhatALoadOfBollocks · 19/07/2012 23:35

fanny not Danny :)

garlicbutter · 19/07/2012 23:37

Bollocks, I was just about to congratulate your phone on what it did to your fanny and thigh Wink

drjohnsonscat · 19/07/2012 23:37

oh yes and both times I was pregnant with the DCs I knew within about a week of ovulation because I had a vibrating sensation in my abdomen - like I had a mobile phone on vibrate in my uterus Grin. Lasted about two weeks and then those feelings got overtaken by all the other freakin weird things that happen in pregnancy anyway.

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 19/07/2012 23:39

It is all I can do not to fanny fart when I'm doing sit-ups. And it's not that I have a bucket clunge as it used to happen when I was a virginal 14 year old and went to the aerobics class in the village hall! Blush

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 19/07/2012 23:41

I get something called Exploding Head Syndrome, which has to be the greatest name for a condition ever. It usually happens as I'm falling asleep and suddenly I'll hear this noise in my head like an electrical charge or electrical buzzing but I'll also feel the electrical current going through my head. At the same time I can 'see' (not literally, as my eyes are closed) a flash of light that looks like 'white noise' on a TV screen. This all happens simultaneously in a matter of a second or two and it's highly unpleasant and wakes me up. I've only had it happen in the daytime once, last winter, but it was awful. I was at work and kept getting the buzzing feeling/noise in my head, and it was making me feel really headachy and ill. By the next day I'd come down with flu, so my body was clearly sickening for something that time.

I also get a weird thing in my heart area. I'll be breathing normally then suddenly I'll feel a sharp pain around my heart, which gets worse the deeper I breathe in. As I'm breathing, the pain is so bad that I breathe as shallowly as I can which means I then start to feel weak and faint because I'm not breathing properly. The only way to get rid of the sharp pain is to take a really deep breath in which is agony, but I force myself to do it because upon breathing in as deep as I can, I feel a pop in my chest near my heart and I can breathe normally again without pain. I googled it once, years ago, and apparently it's some sort of muscle spasm. Funnily enough, as I've been writing this I've realised I haven't had this in ages, which roughly coincides with me taking blood pressure medication, so not sure if it's connected in some way.

cocolepew · 19/07/2012 23:42

I was thinking that about the pressure points it could be really dangerous. It's like Spocks Vulcan Grip.

The underside of my chin itches for hours after I've eaten tomato soup.

cocolepew · 19/07/2012 23:43

Sometimes I forget how to swallow.

Mindyourownbusiness · 19/07/2012 23:46

Oh l see at least one of my 'conditions' has got a name .

'Javelin arse' Grin. Is there a support group ?

recall · 19/07/2012 23:46

iceandsliceplease · 19/07/2012 23:53

moajab I don't drink fizzy drinks on their own, but I do as mixers and sometimes I get an absolutely agonising ache in my left shoulder blade during a session when I've had a single G&T. Never connected it with fizzy drinks before, so thank you Smile

HazeltheMcWitch · 19/07/2012 23:53

Right, I have:

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 19/07/2012 23:53

No, not had either investigated but the EHS is an actual condition - see my link above. There's no treatment and it's just one of those things. Over the past three years I've been under consultant care for a kidney condition, and they've done so many tests and checks I expect anything else would have been picked up.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 19/07/2012 23:56

sorry missed link, tired eyes didnt notice the blue highlite, will read link as I get an electric shock thing, but it seems long lasting and goes through my whole body. but gp has always said it was propably anxiety as I suffer from sleep peralysis aswell from time to time.

kissyfur · 19/07/2012 23:57

Wicketypitch - I used to get that too! I thought that was the Alice thing to begin with.
And bassace that's a sacral dimple I think! My dd has one, don't know if touching it makes her wee tho!!
