WWYD? The Saga of the Family Tuna

Bit longwinded but anyone who bears with me can have Wine and Thanks
DD has a toy caterpillar named Sydney Tuna, she liberated him from a car boot sale when she was just gone 2 and has adored and worshipped him ever since.
Last Christmas Santa brought his mummy, Mrs. Mabel Tuna, to live with us. She had missed Sydney since he went to seek his fortune, so had written to Santa to ask him to find Sydney, and Santa gave her a lift to our house on his sleigh. Cue rejoicing and carolling and so on....
DD now informs me that this Christmas, Mrs T and Sydney are writing jointly to Santa to find Mr. Tuna, who rejoices in the name Miguel apparently, and is in the army, fighting for the peaceloving resistance caterpillars who want to stop the slaughter between the marmite and the maple syrup factions I kid you not AND I kept a straight face wile DD told me all this
So... and if you're still with me, a thousand thanks... I can lay my hands on a caterpillar identical to Mrs. Tuna, but how can I make him look like he's been liberated from the army/prisoner of war camp/somewhere else suitable to have kept him away for a long time? I thought about him having been kidnapped by Pirates to explain where he's been all these years, and that was when DD came out with the stuff about the army... any suggestions? DD is 9 and I think this could be the last year for Santa for her, we've had some pointed questions that I have so far lied my way out of managed by the skin of my teeth, so I want to do Mr. Tuna's homecoming right...

I think Miguel needs a secret Facebook account - perhaps a sympathetic guard could let him use their phone every so often?

mamaGool · 29/09/2011 22:53

YYY! With several thousand MNers supporters & followers as friends obv.

BoffinMum · 29/09/2011 22:57

Safety gear for small animals?

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 29/09/2011 23:12

Thanks, BoffinMum, that's given me some inspiration

I really really really want to set up a Free Miguel Tuna page. Pombear, PM a link to your fb and I'll sooooooo do it!!!

dawntigga · 30/09/2011 04:09

It worries me immensely that I'm excited about an FB page for him.

There's a picture of Sydney (taken some time ago when he was newer and had pristine antennae)
here if the linky thing works crosses fingers I shall put more here as I go along until we, hopefully, have a proper Family Album...

Oh Sydney is so cute - no wonder DD needed to adopt him.

DS went through a phase of Father Christmas doubt a couple of years ago - he decided to hide a note somewhere where "only Father Christmas will find it" - fortunately FC did find it, and left him a mammoth to look after. The following Christmas said mammoth (Rufus) had a panic attack about FC coming to pick him up and left a note asking if he could please stay with DS. FC agreed, and left Rufus a special ribbon which Rufus promised to treasure for ever and has since lost. DS is almost 9 now and still chooses to believe (fortunately he has almost 5yo DD as an excuse Grin)

www.facebook.com/free.miguel.tuna

Pombear, let me have your fb id/add me as a friend and I'll make you an administrator Grin

CristinadellaPizza · 30/09/2011 10:01

You know you need to print this thread off and give it to your DD when she's older PomBear :o

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 10:22

OMG You are all NUTS

But brilliant.

I love this thread.

I do think that you need to have some kind of a campaign going on. I have "liked" the FB page. Are you on Twitter?

@freemigueltuna and #freemigueltuna

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 10:27

I'm not a twit, Mme, feel free to handle that side of things Grin

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 30/09/2011 10:58

I PMed you pidj
ooooo Mme Miguel is the first member of our family to have a tweet- we've never done twitter because the only time we went to look it seemed very scary and complicated and we didn't understand so we sidled away quietly before anyone noticed us and never went back

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 11:02

Go on then MmeL - if you do the creative tweet writing I will re-tweet and incur the disbelieving scorn of all my work related tweeps

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 11:02

Shall I do the twitter bit for you? I can be your Twitter campaign manager.

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 11:06

Cool. I'll do farcebook, you do twit stuff! Will you blog it too, Mme, or should Miguel have his own? Stealthy, d'ya want a job?!

Pombear, you're an admin to the fb page so add stuff at your leisure Grin

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 30/09/2011 11:08

Yes please MmeL Grin we must move with the times and employ every means to get Miguel home safely!

I just had a brilliant idea, but cannot reach Mrs. Tuna she is stuffed down the back of DDs high sleeper and no matter what I do I cannot reach but later, on or next week when DCs are all at school when DH has been made to help me to make up for What He Did Yesterday I thought I could do wedding pictures from the days when Mabel and Miguel were happy together, before he went to war. for the FB album Or is that too sad and pathetic much?

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 11:11

yes, yes to the idea of the wedding photos.

You will need to do that before roughing him up doing the army stuff.

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 11:16

Yes!!!! Any possibility of some baby pics of Sydney, too? Possibly with a dummy and a bonnet in the doll's pram?

NormanTheForeman · 30/09/2011 11:19

Wedding photos sound excellent! Smile

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 11:38

OMG

Miguel has managed to evade the guards and has access to an iPhone.

He is posting on Twitter

Please, MN. Help us get the word out.
