WWYD? The Saga of the Family Tuna

Bit longwinded but anyone who bears with me can have Wine and Thanks
DD has a toy caterpillar named Sydney Tuna, she liberated him from a car boot sale when she was just gone 2 and has adored and worshipped him ever since.
Last Christmas Santa brought his mummy, Mrs. Mabel Tuna, to live with us. She had missed Sydney since he went to seek his fortune, so had written to Santa to ask him to find Sydney, and Santa gave her a lift to our house on his sleigh. Cue rejoicing and carolling and so on....
DD now informs me that this Christmas, Mrs T and Sydney are writing jointly to Santa to find Mr. Tuna, who rejoices in the name Miguel apparently, and is in the army, fighting for the peaceloving resistance caterpillars who want to stop the slaughter between the marmite and the maple syrup factions I kid you not AND I kept a straight face wile DD told me all this
So... and if you're still with me, a thousand thanks... I can lay my hands on a caterpillar identical to Mrs. Tuna, but how can I make him look like he's been liberated from the army/prisoner of war camp/somewhere else suitable to have kept him away for a long time? I thought about him having been kidnapped by Pirates to explain where he's been all these years, and that was when DD came out with the stuff about the army... any suggestions? DD is 9 and I think this could be the last year for Santa for her, we've had some pointed questions that I have so far lied my way out of managed by the skin of my teeth, so I want to do Mr. Tuna's homecoming right...

I don't think baby pics would work :( Sydney Tuna is as far as we've ever been able to discover unique and he now looks a fair bit more tatty well loved and older than he did when he arrived, so I don't think they'd work. Possibly some "soap opera baby" type ones of a bonnet viewed peeking out of a blanket or something, but not actual ones of Sydney. We're not really a dolly house, we hardly have any and the ones we have tend to be sadly neglected naked and with only half a tuft of hair, or missing limbs and such - and we haven't got a pram anymore. I can see me ending up roping in half the school yard here for accessories! The problem is keeping it a secret from the DCs! practices furting furtively

We're in Classics!!

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 11:44

Could you put a baby bonnet on and big dummy in front of Sydney, to obscure him a bit. Fluffy blanket in front.

Do you have an iPhone? Take a pic with Hipstatic app (or whatever it is called) so it looks old

mamaGool · 30/09/2011 11:46

This just gets better & better. Can't wait for wedding pics!

OTheHugeWerewolef · 30/09/2011 12:00

Sydney as a newborn

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 30/09/2011 12:04

I don't have an iphone - I think there are some nifty online photo editing things about though - I shall get the pics first could be monday when they're all at school and I have plenty of time to do it right and then see what I can find... oddly, thinking about wedding pics has made me notice that my roses are gone There's been a bunch of yellow silk roses in "nanna's vase" on the window ledge since DD was born, and they are not there now.... I have no IDEA when they vanished though, they were just always there, and now they aren't and I don't know where they went... it's a mystery!
I shall trot over the road to my lovely neighbour when I do the pics, and ask her if she can spare a few of her lovely flowers to be Mrs Ts bouquet Grin everything is starting to die back now so I should be able to have a few blooms...

OTheHugeWerewolef · 30/09/2011 12:09

If you put this on a green background it would make a ridiculously cute baby Sydney Grin

Or perhaps Sydney's baby sister?

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 12:14

with his cousins when they came to visit?

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 12:22

Thanks for the job offer, Pidj - unfortunately I have a paid one which I am not doing very well at the moment so I think I had better stick to liking and re-tweeting Grin

NormanTheForeman · 30/09/2011 12:27

We're on 20 already Shock

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 13:00

Ha I'm following Miguel!! Can I put him in my blog and link to his twitter and fb?

NormanTheForeman · 30/09/2011 13:19

How about getting a passport for Miguel? Wink

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 30/09/2011 13:23

Shouldn't Miguel have a parrot too seeing as he's a pirate?

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 13:24

MmeL, steal them from the fb page - right click -> properties -> C&P the link OR right-click -> save picture and dump it on your desktop, depending on how twitter lets you do it...

pyjamasinbananas · 30/09/2011 13:35

glittersequinsandsparkles.blogspot.com/2011/09/tuna-family-saga-free-miguel.html

Will work on it more later, I'm sure I have a child around here somewhere but have abandoned my own life as this is more interesting

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 13:37

pssst pjs.
@michaeltuna is the right twitter name. Great blog post.

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 13:38

PomBear I think you are going to have to dig Miguel out from the wardrobe ask Mabel for some old photos - he needs his own photo on his twitter profile - maybe a blurry closeup due to not having long enough legs to hold the stolen iphone far from his face in the dark prison cell?

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 13:39

@migueltuna, not michael!

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 13:41

eek, yes. Sorry. MIGUEL

Friend's dh is Michael, my fingers must type his name automatically.

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 13:42

pjs - just read your last-but-one blog post. Would your DD like more happyland - I have just tidied all of DD and DS's out of DD's room? It's not been much played with, TBH, so is all in pretty good nick.

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 13:43

FB'd the blog, pyjamas!! The address is facebook.com/free.miguel.tuna
