WWYD? The Saga of the Family Tuna

Bit longwinded but anyone who bears with me can have Wine and Thanks
DD has a toy caterpillar named Sydney Tuna, she liberated him from a car boot sale when she was just gone 2 and has adored and worshipped him ever since.
Last Christmas Santa brought his mummy, Mrs. Mabel Tuna, to live with us. She had missed Sydney since he went to seek his fortune, so had written to Santa to ask him to find Sydney, and Santa gave her a lift to our house on his sleigh. Cue rejoicing and carolling and so on....
DD now informs me that this Christmas, Mrs T and Sydney are writing jointly to Santa to find Mr. Tuna, who rejoices in the name Miguel apparently, and is in the army, fighting for the peaceloving resistance caterpillars who want to stop the slaughter between the marmite and the maple syrup factions I kid you not AND I kept a straight face wile DD told me all this
So... and if you're still with me, a thousand thanks... I can lay my hands on a caterpillar identical to Mrs. Tuna, but how can I make him look like he's been liberated from the army/prisoner of war camp/somewhere else suitable to have kept him away for a long time? I thought about him having been kidnapped by Pirates to explain where he's been all these years, and that was when DD came out with the stuff about the army... any suggestions? DD is 9 and I think this could be the last year for Santa for her, we've had some pointed questions that I have so far lied my way out of managed by the skin of my teeth, so I want to do Mr. Tuna's homecoming right...

pyjamasinbananas · 30/09/2011 13:46

Ooops blog updated to correct twitter!!!

More happyland would be great, if you want to PM me how much you want for it?

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 30/09/2011 15:04

I think it will take until at least Monday before Mabel can find her old pictures of Miguel and I can get him out of the wardrobe and back in again unseen and hopefully she'll find the wedding pics too I am planning on trundling over the road to "the field" to pose them on a Grassy Knoll hopefully - weather and finding a suitable piece of net curtain for Mabel's veil permitting...

But of course - she can't abandon Sydney over the weekend just to look for pictures Shock That can wait til he's back at school on Monday! It's sunny, young cattypiddlers need lots of time at the park!

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 15:57

pjs I don't want anything for it - I just want the space back Grin - if you PM me your address I will parcel it up when DD isn't looking

pyjamasinbananas · 30/09/2011 16:00

Just pm'd you! Thank you (I would do the flowery emoticon but fear being sent to netmums!)

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 16:00

Miguel is completely dominating this week's talk round up Grin

pyjamasinbananas · 30/09/2011 16:22

Miguel is awesome. I'm slightly dreading Christmas though as then it's all over. He'll be safe with his family but then what's left for us?

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 16:33

Incidentally, Pidj, parachute material is on it's way to you. It got forgotten in the normal chaos of getting DC out of the house this morning, but I was passing a post office at lunchtime so I think it should be with you tomorrow.

Blatherskite · 30/09/2011 16:36

I've also forgotten to post the helmet. I'll have to do it on Monday now Sad

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 16:39

Awesome, thank you Stealth! Thanks

Incidentally, the Thanks emoticon comes from the blanket threads and KnottyLocks and I take complete responsibility for causing the immense amount of fuss required to get it, therefore there will be no netmums exile for anyone who uses one on a thread that I'm on Grin

saycheese · 30/09/2011 16:46

ive got some camouflaged netting... how about wrapping him in some of that or making him a string vest out of it?

saycheese · 30/09/2011 16:47

also im a photographer so if you can send me a picture of him i can edit you some photos? x

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 30/09/2011 16:59

ooooo cheese I think I love you Grin
When I get Mabel to find the wedding pics and get Miguel out of the wardrobe long enough to take some pictures I shall get you at least one of each member of the family and you can make whatever you like with them within reason, we don't want anything unsuitable Grin He can be Bravely Adventuring in Exotic Climes!
I wanted to do this last time we had Beat Baby staying at our house, "Beat Baby went to the Moon" and "Beat Baby climbed the Empire State Building" and such, but DH wouldn't let me is a party pooper
And the netting sounds lovely too, thankyou [grin[ wil pm you later, DD is hovering so am moving from these pages for now Wink

I think we need some photoshopped pictures of them on their honeymoon trip around the world.

Perhaps Mabel was a model in a former life? Feel free to steal pics from my fb profile of lovely cars Grin

Jux · 30/09/2011 19:02

My brother was a skydiver and is very au fait with the finer points of parachutes and the packing thereof. I could ask him for you purple, but I think it's very complicated, and you would be better off adopting the position of "stuff it in any old how".

I am so relieved Mr T is being reunited with his loving family. It will make Xmas for all of us.

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 20:01

MN facebooked us Shock have they retweeted???

Mrsbapandbabies · 30/09/2011 20:22

I couldn't put this thread down even to eat my tea! It was well worth the evil looks I got from DH during dinner, love it! x

stealthsquiggle · 30/09/2011 20:37

yes, they have retweeted! Miguel has been tweeting up a storm as wwell

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 20:41

Am a bit peeved that Miguel has got more "likes" in a couple of hours that I have for my blog FB page in bloody weeks.

hmpf.

Need more RTing action. Where are the twitterers?

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 21:05

MmeLindor, post on MimaPants's wall and I'll do you a shout out Grin

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 30/09/2011 21:36

Erm, Mme, I meant your blog fb page Wink

MmeLindor. · 30/09/2011 22:09

Ah, ok

Miguel is doing well at this social media lark. He has 33 followers already.

pyjamasinbananas · 30/09/2011 22:10

I have been out followed by a caterpillar

purplepidjinawoollytangle · 01/10/2011 10:20

He has 85 fans on FB!!! And someone's suggested merchandise so that Miguelophiles can recognise each other... Pombear, what's your daughter's favourite charity? Grin
