Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

BagofHolly · 13/08/2011 12:48

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

Verruca gnome Confused Grin

piprabbit · 16/08/2011 22:03

Not my invention - it's DiscWorld thing, sorry.

The verucca gnome wears a stained black suit with bowler or derby hat pressed firmly down forcing long pointed ears out sideways like a small malignent wingnut. He carries a sack and dispenses foot warts to the unwary.

hermioneweasley · 16/08/2011 22:08

Wow, did anyone also watch the 'gigantic blackhead' link on YouTube? I have never seen anything like it.

Bagofholly - hope you are feeling better. You deserve good boil karma for keeping everyone informed and keeping your sense of humour

ObviouslyOblivious · 16/08/2011 22:12

Boil in the bag karma?

uggmum · 16/08/2011 22:12

I love boil threads. I currently have an infected belly button (had a key hole op and the wound has become infected). I have been enjoying pulling out all the infected pus for the past few days. Have abs now and it's getting better.

I had an enormous scab and I photographed it and emailed it to my dh as he is away and I didn't want him to miss it.

On a more serious note, if it doesn't improve in a few days I would really go to a&e for a second opinion. I became really ill 18 months ago and ended up in hospital with septaecemia, was mis-diagnosed by my gp 6 times. Spent 3 weeks in hospital in isolation. It's no fun believe me.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 22:29

Hey OP, if you check out my photos you can see my arm mouse that came up in reaction to a tiny splinter in my finger (I get good infections you see). Now that was full of pus and gore and nothing ever came of it, it all vanished over the course of five days.

GlaikitFizzog · 16/08/2011 22:33

WMMC your profiles private. I wanna see the arm mouse

aftereight · 16/08/2011 23:29

So, do we know yet what the black hole bit in the centre is?? I actually fell asleep last night pondering that one..

BagofHolly · 17/08/2011 00:58

Update 0035 GMT

After a rubbish dinner which tasted of aluminium, I was watching the telly and was aware of a strange tightening in my hump. I thought it might be the ABs doing stuff/sauron waking up and decided to leave it to get on with it. After that programme about hoarders, I had a look and it's now as big as a boiled egg (hen) sliced in half. Mindful of avoiding a gaping hole, I didn't touch it but I did pull my shoulders back and put my head down a couple of times.
Then things got very weird. It went DARK red, like an angry octopus! There was a bit of relief as a teeny bit of wee leaked out. The black bit has a yellow surround and (this is where I freaked out) as I moved my head, the yellow bit covered the black necrotising flesh bit!

The cocky bastard winked at me! Angry

It still hasn't blown - it's had plenty of opportunity but it's biding its time. I've put some more magnesium sulphate on it and as I didn't have any big plasters, I've covered it with a clean muslin. It's tied on, Mumford and Sons style. My temp is back up so that's all I'm wearing - a nude, folky leper.

Hope it goes without ruining my pillowslips!

If it's not improved by the time I do the night feed, I'll film it winking. It's bloody extraordinary.

It obviously has plans for world domination.

You sounds as though you have chosen the perfect outfit Grin.

Good luck.

chimchar · 17/08/2011 05:37

Omg Holly. That's grim.

When are you next seeing someone about it? Temp going up is not good. But yes, please do film it. I bet I would dribble with lust .... Or vomit. One of the two!

Really though, whilst this thread is brilliant, and you have such a funny way with words, I really hope you get better soon. I'm worrying a bit for you. X

chimchar · 17/08/2011 05:40

Oh yeah, those anti bs your on are evil. I got dreadful thrush with them and I got it in my mouth too. They made me feel very sick without even drinking. Yuk! You have big sympathies from me.

IwoulddoPachacuti · 17/08/2011 06:10

Grin at winking at you!

I really hope you get some relief from it soon, it looks so painful! Your posts really have made me laugh though, and thanks to you I have been introduced to wonders such as exploding stomachs and the biggest blackhead ever [ boak] [happy]

Do you have a gold ring you can throw at sauron? Maybe that would get him worked up a bit and he will either explode or beat a hasty retreat!

Mumsnut · 17/08/2011 07:40

She needs a hobbit. Though Aragorn would be a lot more effective in other ways ...

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 17/08/2011 07:49

This is better than any TV Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/08/2011 07:54

Hoping you are ok this morning. If not and your temp is still up, why not sort out going to a&e. You've given your gps a really good chance to sort this, but perhaps it needs someone more specialised now.

whomovedmychocolate · 17/08/2011 08:19

Ewww.

Profile now public so you can see my mouse. Doesn't look like much but was twice the size it should have been.

sparkle12mar08 · 17/08/2011 08:24

FFS woman, get thee down to A&E or your nearest walk in! This is ridiculous - you are clearly unwell, running a temperature, and in definate pain. It needs dealing with! Not that I'm not having a fantastic time reading it all, I am, and I feel rather sordid about that (I'll confess and say three hail mary's later), but I'd really rather my amusement didn't come at the expense of your health :)

Tinkerisdead · 17/08/2011 08:28

Oh my god I'm absolutely cracking up. You have such good spirits in all this! Think we need a new update to the pustulous slide show.

aftereight · 17/08/2011 08:33

You should start a blog, you would have an army of followers..!
How is it this morning? Any more pics?

catinboots · 17/08/2011 08:39
Grin
DrKoothrappali · 17/08/2011 08:53

Hope you are doing ok this morning - are you still humpy?

maxybrown · 17/08/2011 08:59

How you feeling this morning?

Sidge · 17/08/2011 09:07

BagofHolly you are a hoot.

A poorly hoot though. I do hope you are better soon and those pesky abx are doing the job.
