Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

Looking more and more nipple like every day isn't it.

Looks like a Brian to me Grin

BagofHolly · 15/08/2011 17:16

My other nipples aren't black in the middle, thank goodness! Ugh!

GlaikitFizzog, you're a genius.

Fuck me! That's a hell of a spot there. Is it sore yet? Do you want me to come round and suck out the venom stick pins in it? Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 15/08/2011 18:32
Wink

Hope it's better soon!

whomovedmychocolate · 15/08/2011 19:27

Nice haircut btw. Wink A cyclops should always go for the shorter styles. Grin

Moanna · 15/08/2011 21:07

I think you should do a close up

MaxSchreck · 15/08/2011 21:34

Am so glad you're not dead, OP.

I think you may as well open the champagne and welcome your newborn into the family.
Try to think of it as your slightly odd son that lives in the attic.

"Update as of 1930 GMT.

Red area is size of a Denby sideplate."

classic!!!!

i hope you are not feeling too bad OP, but this thread has made me laugh so much.

esp wmmc advising not driving yourself to hospital if you've lost consciousness or can't open your eyes lol Wink

catinboots · 15/08/2011 23:18

Does this remind anybody else of the movie "How to Get Ahead in Advertising" with Richard E Grant and the giant boil????

BagofHolly · 16/08/2011 09:55

Update Tuesday 0930 GMT

It oozed yellow stuff in the night, and the black centre has utterly disappeared. Has it been eaten?!

It's as hot as ever, and hurts! Going to get it dressed properly this afternoon. My mum says it looks like a dowager's hump.

The glands under my jaw are up and I'm sneezy. It's bubonic isn't it? Back in medieval/Lord of the Rings times, I'd be dead by now. Thrown into a pit and covered in lime.

In other news, the CD marker appears not to have been indelible afterall. it came off in the shower. Grin

Looks awful-thank goodness you´ve been to the Dr about it.

I had a boil in my armpit, Dr gave me something that should have made it explode, but it didn´t work & the next day I was barely able to move my arm- it swollen to the elbow as that was how far the infection had spread!

Had to have it cut out & OMG-the relief was instant!

There was as much of a boil underneath as was visible!

BagofHolly · 16/08/2011 10:10

How did they cut it out, Diddl? I'm a terrible coward and the thought of anyone coming near my boil with something sharp is very scary!

OddBoots · 16/08/2011 10:14

Is it a nurse or doctor dressing it later? It does look like it needs to be regularly checked by a professional. Are you monitoring your temperature?

MorningCoffee · 16/08/2011 10:15

That does not look good, are you being monitored by gp? if not i would be inclined to go back.

diddl · 16/08/2011 10:17

Anaesthetic & a scalpel.

I honestly felt nothing.

I was terrified-never had an anaesthetic before, but was in such agony I had to go.

And of course it was no where near as bad as I thought.

Worst thing was going back to have the dressing changed the next day as I wasn´t allowed to shower first.

netbook · 16/08/2011 10:21

fuck that looks angry!

OddBoots · 16/08/2011 10:21

My mum has had several carbuncles removed from her neck, the pain of the procedure is nothing compared to the stage you are at now.

chimchar · 16/08/2011 10:38

bloody hell bag. that looks so sore.

is it getting smaller do you reckon?

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 10:49

The small five injections you will need to numb it are nothing to what it feels like now. That looks very bad to me - hospitalisation and surgery type bad. A GP will not deal with that. Go get help. :)

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 16/08/2011 10:52

A & E for you, you do NOT want that infection in your bloodstream. Go today!

BagofHolly · 16/08/2011 11:43

My appointment this afternoon is with a healthcare assistant. You're all scaring me now, that I need more serious help! I've double dosed the ABs and am popping paracetamol. I have seven month old twins and a two year old. Hanging out at a&e isn't an option. Going to call GP I think and see what they say although I suspect they'll just want to wait till this afternoon to have a look.

Also, the middle is going black again and it's grown another head. Sad

Two year old said "ooo, mummy ouchy. Give it some toast?"

Am watching this saga with interest - it looks nasty - in a good way Grin sorry for your pain though Sad
