Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

Ive been reading this with a range of feelings- shock at how big it was, amazement at how well you are coping with it then relief that I've never had a boil before.

karma has now literally bit me on the bum as I now have a large (but not on the scale of yours) boil on my buttock. dh has named it Frankie (Boyle) and he is making my life a misery- sitting down is almost impossible. I'm having an early night with a pot of magnesium sulphate tonight...wish me luck.

Aitch - I know a lot about them because frankly I seem to be unable to be bitten or even get a splinter without developing a full on sepsis within 24 hours. I now have a preorder with the GP for hard core antiobiotics so I can start treatment at the first signs of a lump. It's a genetic thing, some people are predisposed to have strong reactions to any infection. And I have a blinking great hole in my ticker so I'm not allowed to let them run wild anymore just in case I get endocarditis.

Sadly there will be no photos of my giant behind.

I had one of my arse once. It popped when I sat down. Was excruciating - not least because it looked like I'd shat myself because there was a large dark stain on my white linen trousers where the goo had all come out

It was indeed foul, and actually smelled very like stilton

WMMC if you didn't have the polo mint heart I'd be asking you to go rub a splintery stick around your person in the hope that a boil manifests. But I wouldn;t want to endanger you, but if you happen to be gardening soon, watch out for those roses, splintery little buggers they are :o

I was actually gardening yesterday and got spiked on a bush, so hold that thought!

Hello! Here's how it looked yesterday. It doesn't hurt unless prodded and doesn't smell. Itches like mad though. The clarythromicin should have lasted me till Thursday but I got confused and for the first few days too it 4 times a day, not twice a day. I asked for more but they said I shouldn't need it. I now have rabies-like thrush.
