Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

BagofHolly · 13/08/2011 12:48

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

Good grief! I would certainly be at A&E with that!

GlaikitFizzog · 17/08/2011 11:12

OMG Holly! That is impressive!

If you need someone to give whatever emerges a home give me a bell!! :o

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 17/08/2011 11:28

You really need that seen to today. It isn't going away is it?

JodieHarsh · 17/08/2011 11:38

Now look.

I don't wish to meddle.

But dear, it is NOT RIGHT that a healthy young woman in a santised country should get this. Something has gone wrong somewhere. I have only ever seen this kind of thing in the Developing World.

Can you not march into the walk-in clinic (hell love, I would go to A&E if I were you) and DEMAND some answers? SURELY you need blood tests to check your immune system or somesuch?

I LOVE a bit of pus porn but I am beyond gleeful horror and out the other side into just plain worried about you

AncientsOfMuMu · 17/08/2011 11:39

Have just read this whole thread.
Have never laughed so much, but felt so sick, all at the same time.
Grin

maxybrown · 17/08/2011 11:41

I agree Holly, tis not getting better, soon we will not know where your head ends and the alien begins - it must be sore?

Geordieminx · 17/08/2011 11:52

Has anyone seen "How to get ahead in advertising"Grin

catinboots · 17/08/2011 12:31

Geordie - see my link further up the thread Grin

ThePrincessRoyalFiggyrolls · 17/08/2011 12:45

The whole thread is brilliant, on looking at the photo's "3" looks like it left a lovely hole

I keep going back to YouTube to have a quick look at pustules - doing wonders for my diet! Grin

Tinkerisdead · 17/08/2011 12:52

Oh Holly lovely, I think you are befuddled looking so postively at it. It must be eating into your brain I think. That is not looking better!!!! It looks as angry as it did at pic number 5! I think you are about to enter the realms of scoop and pack. Go back to the docs! Winking, labouring, convulsing and still red and pustulous. Me thinks someone has to intervene here and release the beast from that crater.

Moanna · 17/08/2011 12:56

As much as I am loving the pusporn piccies, it definitely isn't looking better Sad.

JoyceBarnaby · 17/08/2011 13:04

Did you know someone has accidentally linked to a pic of your boil in a thread about Kitchenaids? Mumsnetters are reading a lighthearted thread about baking appliances and think they are clicking to see a pic of a pretty KA, only to be greeted by a pic of your boil. I must admit, it's a bit unnerving!

Hope you're getting it sorted - it sounds utterly horrendous. Take care.

BagofHolly · 17/08/2011 13:08

Ok I hear you. Really I do. I haven't been on the second lot of ABs for 24 hours yet and already feel better. My temp is normal and I don't feel unwell. I've just called NHS Direct and spoke to the nurse and she said to give the ABs a bit longer and if things get worse, particularly if I feel unwell or hot, to go to minor injuries and get it lanced.
So, back to warm compresses, and neckerchiefs.
I'm really touched you're all so concerned though. I'll almost miss it when it goes!

OP posts:
JodieHarsh · 17/08/2011 13:09

All right. Well. I'm watching you, that's all.

Also, I think we should see the neckerchief. For the sake of full and frank disclosure.

BagofHolly · 17/08/2011 13:10

Joyce, can you share the thread? I feel obliged to know what my boil is getting up to when I'm not looking!

OP posts:
maxybrown · 17/08/2011 13:11

sheesh, the lengths some people will go to for attention Grin

m0nkeynuts · 17/08/2011 13:21

Kitchenaid thread

Tinkerisdead · 17/08/2011 13:23

Right now i'm howling at people thinking they are looking at appliances and being greeted by the beast. See, we'd all love to hear of it being lanced but because its on the back of your neck, your not gonna be able to give us a blow by blow account. Only the sensation. hmph.

MigratingCoconuts · 17/08/2011 13:34

yey Vajazzler!!

This thread just about has it all...and now it has ambushing of unsuspecting kitchenaid admirers...Grin

Clarence15 · 17/08/2011 13:38

OMG Grin the kitchenaid link

This is too much, I'm sitting in asda carpark on the pretence of getting some lunch to get out of the office so I can catch up on this Smile. Those kitchenaid people got a surprise didn't they, shame it wasn't the big angry Sauron's Eye pictureConfused.

Anyway really hope you're ok, thinking of you lots

DrKoothrappali · 17/08/2011 13:48

Holy crap on a cracker, Holly, that looks grim.

maxybrown · 17/08/2011 13:52

It is a beautiful powerful machine that creates wonderful things

Louby you absolutely must get one. Even if you dont use it very often it deserves to be admired.

Since i got mine my cakes and other treats are much nicer and they are much easier to make

Oh god I can't stop laughing

RollingInTheAisles · 17/08/2011 14:04

Oh god I have been lurking here, hoping you feel better soon and oddly fascinated, sorry...

But that KitchenAid thing might be the funniest thing ever, oh my god, I am crying. I love that you've posted over there too. This is one of those things that's so funny you want to share in RL but know how it would sound...

"so, we've all been hanging about on this girl Holly's thread about her boil, waiting for it to burst, it's called Cyst Fabregas. Anyway then there were these girls talking about KitchenAid and the boil popped up on that thread too! Isn't that amazing! Hahahahaha"

ObviouslyOblivious · 17/08/2011 14:13

The boil's outing to kitchenaid has caused me to nominate this for classics. It's just the final, wonderful ingredient for a truly great thread.

And hopefully the thread will live on long after poor Holly has been consumed.

MigratingCoconuts · 17/08/2011 14:19

yes, classics!! it must!
