My Gp's therory on twins

second pregnancy here..

Just seen the Dr and questioned him about my chances of it being twins.
My mum is a non identical twin. Im currently 8 weeks and im massive! Everyone knows /guessed and is amazed at my size and have commented on twins.

Anyway Dr's theory was that Multiple mums are usually pretty bad with sickness and breast tenderness as they have double the hormones.

Just wondered if your experience backs up his theory or not?

no sickness with my twins

LolaAnn · 12/10/2009 19:35

How can you only be 5 weeks with that bump? I'm like almost 12 .. and my stomach is still completely flat ... .. jealous!!

HeadFairy · 12/10/2009 19:40

I looked like that at 6 weeks (pg with dc2) and she's a singleton... I was on holiday with the inlaws and terrified they'd guess as I'd had two mcs previously and didn't want to have to tell anyone yet. I was in mat clothes from 8 weeks, but I'd been wearing jeans with a bump band for two weeks before that.

Rollmops · 13/10/2009 11:39

Had no morning sickness whatsoever, no 'symptoms' if you will of pregnancy, period. Totally flat stomach until past 15 weeks (knew by that time that was expecting twins and consequently panicking, about the twin fact and that had no tummy at all).
So, all are different.

Let us know if it's twins! I was also huge with my third pregnancy, not twins though, just fat in my case.

Abubu · 13/10/2009 17:10

Hi,

The boob thing was true for me and I was definitely quite large early on but I wasn't very sick when I had my twins.
In fact I am worse with the sickness this time round. Scan on Thursday, praying it's not multiples again cos I've been in maternity trousers since 7 weeks!

legspinner · 16/10/2009 07:57

No sickness with my twins just feeling that I was always on a rocky ferry trip...actually the singleton pregnancy after that felt worse!
I didn't show much early on either. Biggest indication for me was the tiredness!

mo3g · 16/10/2009 08:10

I had hyperemeis gravidium with all 3 of my babies and was in hospital allot and the last time the pain in my breasts was terrible aswell but all single babies for me.

I had terrible morning sickness, but I also didn't show until 16 weeks, had no history of twins, am under 35, was my first pregnancy - i.e. no reason to think it was twins at all. Everyone's different I think

littlemissm · 22/10/2009 10:25

Was really sick with my twin pregnancy more so than with my singletons the showing early thing could also be due to your hormones i show straight away with all my pregnancy's & the doc said it was most likely due to already having kids & the hormones

DougalDoneGood · 23/10/2009 10:47

Blimey! That's a bump and a half for just seven weeks of pregnancy!

Hope you will come back and let us know just how many you've actually got in there

PoppyIsApain · 23/10/2009 10:55

Congrats, my mum is a non id twin, i think i may be the next aarghhh!

pigleychez · 23/10/2009 20:55

Im now 10 weeks and just got my scan date of 3rd Nov so should find out soon enough.

I have been feeling pretty sick compared to nothing last time and have extremely tender boobs/nipples.

lol- was so looking forward to you saying it was Quads!!

I was convinced my 3rd pg was twins due to how tired I felt but it was all down to being pg and having a 1 and a 2 yr old as well- I was a wee bit disappointed

Congrats on your healthy little baby though!

DougalDoneGood · 04/11/2009 15:18

I'm glad it all went well

At least you know now and you can stop wondering. Enjoy preparing for your new baby
