At first i felt proud when i took the twins shopping with me and i was happy to talk to anybody who asked me if they were twins or not.Now nine months later i still feel proud when i take them out as any mum would but its getting to the point where i nip out for a loaf n milk and im gone an hour.

I've found that this has got better as my twins have got older. They are now 2 1/2 years and I hardly ever get stopped. It started getting better after they turned 1.

I think people find babies much more adorable than stroppy toddlers.

Are yours identical tiwns? Mine aren't and so they look very different to each other and this has helped as well

mumwithtwins, do they look alike and do you dress them alike? Not a criticism, but if you dress them the same then I think that is inviting comment/attention.

However people used to think my dds were twins - there is 17 months between them and they were never dressed the same! It stopped happening when they were out of their double buggy and on foot.

Make them up sweatshirts with "Yes, I'm a twin" printed on the front and never leave home without them. Actually, I wonder if there's a market for them...

miaou, I don't dress mine alike (girl/boy) and I still get comments.

Mumwithtwins, that's the way it is I'm afraid. The novelty wears off for us much sooner than it does for the general public I'm afraid. I daren't go into M&S anymore. That's the worst place for being stopped. It can take an hour to get out of there and I'll have only popped in for one thing. Now that I have a Marco Sky people don't instantly see two babies. I often wondered about printing leaflets giving birth weights, family genetic history and a pyschiastrist's note as to why I'm not mad having twins, and handing them out to people. It would save so much time.

There are 15 months between mine. I boy and 1 girl. They are both the same hieght, same hair and eye colour, same wieght and shoe size and i get that question all the time. Its only obvious when the youngest doesnt speak as well. I find it quite funny that i get into conversations with complete strangers about them and how they could be twins. The fact is they are not but they still bang on how they could be.

We took the twins to Adsa a few days ago and got stopped four times in 45 mins. They were five days old and you still get people saying 'are they twins?'
I mean, it's a bit obvious! I really felt like saying no, there was an offer - buy one get one free!!

Miaou, my dp loves to dress them identical, although I'm not so keen. They have some matching clothes, but since they are always sicking or weeing it never works out atm.

Theres nought stranger than folk as my grandad would say. I think with me they over compensate by talking longer as they have made a mistake.

there is 2.5years between my dd's, and as dd2 is the same height as dd1, i always get asked 'are they twins' lol. usually shocks people when i say no, dd1 is 5, and dd2 is 2

because DT2 is about 5lbs heavier than DT1 what I get now is.... oooooooooohhh you had them close together didn't you? To which I reply. Yeah, maybe I should've left half an hour.

I get it with dd and ds too, and there is two years to the day between them. They are similar in height, in looks, same shoe size etc. Now I have the dts, even more ppl are going to assume it now!
Ppl are just fascinated by twins. The number of ppl who say they would love to have twins is unbelievable. I love mine, but I couldn't handle another twin pg, no way!

my lovely two are currently jumping on one of the chairs and pulling the curtains. They're far too small to see out but they are laughing hysterically and bouncing. Ah the joys...

kelly I would forget the idea of doing any work. I can't remember the last time that I got anything done. You need all the rest you can get at the moment and with older kids it ain't easy.

just do what you can honey. Don't worry about the house and take all help that is offered. Do you have a good support network around you? You know, family, friends?

It doesn't get any easier either let me tell you...my twins are now 14 and ds1 is 15, people think they are triplets...if were out people still stop us to check us out...the feeding doesn't get any easier as they all have different tastes...

Nope, I only moved here 6 months ago, so I have a few friends and no family. I am also insanely houseproud, so no let up there neither.
Luckily ds and dd are very well behaved and don't create much work at all.
I'm just going to be trying to get as much done as poss while they are still small and sleeping lots.
