At first i felt proud when i took the twins shopping with me and i was happy to talk to anybody who asked me if they were twins or not.Now nine months later i still feel proud when i take them out as any mum would but its getting to the point where i nip out for a loaf n milk and im gone an hour.

PMSL MN

kelly, I gave up any pretension of being houseproud. Build as much of a network as you can. I get a local teenager in to help out when DH works overnight. It's not so bad now but she still comes and does ironing and helps with homework and bathtime.

I found it more or less stopped once they were out of a double buggy, mn. I quite missed the attention having become used to our fan club of total strangers! The other day a peripatetic teacher nearly swooned at finding out they were brothers having thought I was a childminder with two unrelated charges. Doh!

Kelly1978 · 31/03/2005 10:47

I was thinking of getting some sort of mother's help too, perhaps someone to keep the children entertained for a bit while I work.
I'm prob going to have to relent a bit with the house once the DTs are getting about, but I find I feel really stressed if the place looks cluttered or dirty.
I just can't wait to get out and about with them, but I'm still not sure how!

When mine entered into high school surpisingly it took several years before most of the teachers realised they were related even though they were in the same class and obviously have the same name...just goes to show they dont look at the faces...just their work..when they are together there is not mistaking the resemblance.

honey they're not very old yet so fret not. It will come. If you do get a mother's help make sure she does help and not just play with the kids.

Kelly1978 · 31/03/2005 10:56

We will get there. I would never have signed up for the course had I known I was going to have twins this year! Luckily dp is very supportive and helps loads. After being a single mum of two (one newborn) this seems manageable with two pairs of hands.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 31/03/2005 11:01

I'm glad he's so supportive. Makes all the difference. My DH has done the morning school runs since I got pregnant and too ill to move. I do the morning run once a week when he's done a sleepover.

What course are you doing? I still have to return to mine. I have done 2 years of an English Lit degree. I'm planning on going back to it next year (Feb).

I was looking after my friend's dd one day - she's mixed race (ds2 is white) and a year younger than my ds. And yes...someone asked me if they were twins

Kelly1978 · 31/03/2005 11:08

lol @ marthamoo.
My dts are mixed race, tho one looks a lot darker than the other at the mo.
I'm doing law. I'd rather be doing English Lit tho!!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 31/03/2005 11:16

gotta go. Time for the DTs nap.

When we took our twin girls out to Asda for the first time, they must have been about 8 days old. We wer SO LONG in the baby clothing section. EVERYONE stopped, we even caused a big hold up as people were coming in!

Funny isnt it, they are just my Daughters!

Now they are 3.7yrs and it does get much better. Not many people stop us now, but the other day we went for a walk and two different people stopped me to ask about them!

Funniest thing is when people ask what the age difference is and I say 12 minutes! You can see them trying to work it out. Lol!!!
