hello my darlings.

Just popping in to say hi from Marseille. Did you see the men's pursuit final? Had to watch it in french as the sky screen isn't working. Also, Jamaica won both the men and women's 100m The women took all three medals

Okay... back to the pool. C'est tres tres chaud. Momma je parle francais avec le [bugger it... what's the word for cleaner] domestique et nous dirons l'olympique aussi!

[mental note to actually study French!

Hello Mars! I saw the pursuit. Just got tv on in time to catch last couple of mins. Watching the heats of the 200m at the mo, our British lads keep coming fourth so prob not qualifying. Jamaica doing a little better! Bolt doesn't even look like he is trying and he breezes it.

Mars did you see someone was looking for a N London doula the other day on MN? I and a couple of others mentioned your name.

HarrogateMum · 18/08/2008 13:49

Bonjour tout le monde! Just getting Mars into the spirit of the French thang.

(ssshhh I think momma's wedding day is Thursday if my memory serves me correctly......quick get the champers ready for virtual hen night!).

I am at work on my lunch break. I am having a dull day testing our new computer system. Whats the rest of you up to other than Mars lazing by the pool, trips having the day from hell and the vast majority of people watching the Lympics?

PS I am most definitely not the new Paula Radcliffe, I weed in the toilet when I got home rather than en route during my run.......

Egg · 18/08/2008 13:56

I never wee al fresco except when drunk. Used to do it a fair bit in my "youth". In fact I did wee behind a wheely bin (maybe a weely bin?) in Dublin a few weeks ago . It was 5am and the club had closed and the taxi was nowhere to be seen.........

Me again! Another day of ups and downs! The up is H is feeling better, been up most of the day, now at the allotment with the boys for an hour. The down is I ended up taking Becca to A&E this morning as she was crying so much with the pain in her neck. They said it was not connected to the rash, a general neck injury probably caused by sleeping on her tummy and turning her head to the side, she has always slept that way she since she could first roll over. They gave her some paracetamol and said just to keep an eye. This afternoon the rash looked worse, her neck was hurting so I phoned the surgery and took her down. My doc checked her over and called another gp in to also check the rash, both say its not serious, a non specific viral rash, could get worse before it gets better, not connected to her neck problem, and to keep the boys away from her as it could turn out to be infectious! She is now complaining that the other side of her neck is sore, why do I think there will be no sleep tonight?

frumpygrumpy · 18/08/2008 19:35

I've invited in frangipani74.......she might pop along...........

Right, catchup.......I'm halfway through teeth brush, wee wees and stories.........

oooggs · 18/08/2008 19:37

oh dear poor Becca - hope she feels better soon and that the boys behave tonight - good news on H feeling better

frumpygrumpy · 18/08/2008 19:46

Trips, just you go with instincts darling. IME doctors often do the minimum required unless your leg is actually hanging off. Keep returning if you are uncomfortable. Necks can be agony if she's pulled a muscle there. I did that as a teenager and got a massive lump. It lasted age and was agony.....but was just a pulled muscle.

I'm also thinking neck glands and viruses. It does sound to me like its a virus and is connected to the rash. Lots of rest, fluids, soup etc. Just you keep watch and, if in doubt, pester them. You are not an over anxious mother. You are a caring, loving, experienced, mother of four.

Egg · 18/08/2008 20:38

Trips I would have been pestering docs or A&E. As I said in my earlier post, all of her pains and symptoms together would make me panic (this is from the woman who called an ambulance for DS1 the first time he had a fullblown tantrum as I thought he was dying ). Hope little Becca is better soon.

My Rebecca, and indeed my Jacob, were injured at nursery today . Both of them got bitten by another child in two separate incidents. Poor DD was bitten on the cheek. DS2 was bitten on his leg.

Oooggs, seeing your post on the double buggy thread reminds me to ask you, I know your DTs are quite different in size. My DS2 is 19lbs and DD is not even 13lbs, were/are yours that dramatically different (mine are 7 months now).

oooggs · 18/08/2008 20:42

at 7 mths exactly ds2 was 20lb 3oz and dd was 16lb 12oz so not as dramatic

at a year old ds2 was 25lb 14oz and dd was 20lb 14oz

and he has widened the gap even more now I am sure of that, I can hardly carry him but no idea how much they weigh

oooggs · 18/08/2008 20:43

I did just get the red book out for that info!

Egg · 18/08/2008 20:48

Ooh thank you! I thought DD seemed to be really gaining weight but I got on the scales with her yesterday before her bath, after she ate a big supper (and just before she pooed on her towel) and the difference from when on the scales without her was only 12lbs. I know this is not v accurate but weighing DS2 the same way puts him at 19lbs.

She has been checked by a paediatrician so I know she's healthy (she is chubby just small), was just wondering if yours were the same. The gap between yours is almost the same as mine when they were a year.

DD still wears a lot of 0-3 month clothes...

oooggs · 18/08/2008 20:57

dd is in 9-12 bottoms and 12-18 tops and ds2 in 12-18 bottoms and 18-24 tops

they both eat really well

well egg - your dd can wear your ds2's hand me downs!!!!!!!!

accordiongirl · 18/08/2008 21:53

Aggy sticks up hand for uneven twins: she was 18lbs when he was 24lbs (around Xmas time, one year old then). He's two shoe sizes bigger too. Which is economical cos they can hand-me-down the shoes if I get unixexy ones.

Tackter tackter tackter at Wooby's house!!!

Trips - rashes can also be anxiety-related and I guess there might be enough of that going round to raise a spot or two. Back rubs to you.

I mean unisex.

There really is plenty life on Mars - Vive les vacances, cherie!

accordiongirl · 18/08/2008 21:56

Oh and I'm pleased and impressed to hear that your multi-tasking abilities extend to simultaneous running and bladder control HM.

MERLYPUSS · 18/08/2008 22:48

My BF phoned today and she has suffered an ectopic pg . I cant stop thinking of her. When she called DT1 was on my lap screeching with laughter and it made me feel very guilty. Life is crap at times for some people.

My DTs are different weights too. DT1 is 20lb and DT2 is 15lb. He is gaining on him as he's only a quarter smaller now and was 1/3 at birth.

TRIPS - when are the trips coming to me?

righto, bedtime. Night. xx

triplets · 18/08/2008 22:57

Tomorrow Merly, tomorrow, just been up to those boys again, bringing one down to sleep on the bed settee last night seemed a great treat...............could try the shed I suppose?

triplets · 18/08/2008 23:09

Comparing baby weight has made me get out my little red books, quite interesting. Remember they were born at 32 weeks.
At birth Rebecca weighed 4.3
At 7 months she weighed 13.12

At birth Thomas weighed 4.7
At 7 months he weighed 15.6

At birth James weighed 2.15
At 7 months he weighed 16.5 !!!

They are now 10/8 months old
Rebecca is a head shorter than the boys who are both exactly the same height
Rebecca now weighs 4 stone
Thomas now weighs 3.12
James now weighs 3.9!!!

A boring bit of triplet stats for you!!

shabster · 18/08/2008 23:09

Merly so sorry for your friend.

Trips - you sound like I used to do many moons ago with my Toms awful sleep patterns. Do you remember we would be talking on the phone and he would be running around? OMG not sure how we got through that.

Hope Becca is feeling a bit better.
