The snow has gone!!!!!Went to do big shop - slipping and sliding - about an hour later - through the doors with a trolley to sunshine. OMG DS4 will have a breakdown - he was planning on sledging later on - tee hee

TripleyTigger · 20/02/2008 15:52

Shabs!!! Don't you do 'big shop' on tin'ternet?

shabster · 20/02/2008 16:06

Trips - shop on t'internet! Nay, never - are you trying to spoil DH and my special big day out - YOU VAGABOND

shabster · 20/02/2008 16:07

Soz I mean Tigger - missing trips a bit too much me thinks

snorris · 20/02/2008 16:23

Justseen your pics on FB, Tigger. That's it,I'm moving the Norris's west .

I hate supermarket shopping so do mine online as much as possible. It's ironic really 'cos I used to work at Sainsburys as a home shopper .

nh101andhertwinbeans · 20/02/2008 17:14

Shabster - 10 DAYS!!! No way. I am in Lancs too - Preston, well I work here, I actually live in Formby (near Southport), it never snows there!

Harrogatemum, I am having a boy (Theo) but they couldn't tell what the other one was. We have another scan two weeks tomorrow so I hope we can find out then. I am getting very impatient about it now! We like Noah and Gabe for boys and Esther for a girl. I keep going off Esther and liking it again though.

I ordered my pram today - I went for the mountain buggy. Bought the carrycot second hand off ebay for £55 and got the pram for £555 brand new from ebay. I think that's a pretty good deal. My gran is paying for it anyway but I like to get a bargain (which I suppose is going to come in handy!) I know the powertwin is very popular among twin mums but I just couldn't resist the MB with the cute double carrycot!

I have bought both our cots second hand off ebay (£50 and £40), plus a changing station (£10). And I have just bought the car seats too (brand new of course). And we are having the nursery decorated at the moment!

My mum is going to come and stay with us after the birth to help me get feeding established and then my DH is going to have two weeks working from home (he is a partner in a law firm so isn't entitled to paternity leave but he has arranged for files and stuff to be sent home for him to do).

So it's all happening!

The thing is, I am considering using terry nappies - am I mad or can it be done?

TripleyTigger · 20/02/2008 17:41

Snorris, I hope so,because then I can steal your horses too!!!!!!

Clueso,is a darling horse. I have always been scared of them, but since bribing making friends with him, the fear has totally gone.I was up there cuddling him today, totally covered in mud,but happy!!!! I think I have a new love of horses coming on!!!!

TripleyTigger · 20/02/2008 17:42

Snorris, silly question.......what exactly is the difference between a horse and a pony? Is a just a height thing?

shabster · 20/02/2008 17:51

oh yes twinbeans - 10 piggin short days!

It was right at the end of 1981 and routine scans weren't done then. If you were classed as a 'problem' case they would do a scan. They x rayed me on the 18th December and I had the boys on the 28th!!

They only took me into hospital on the 10th December because I was developing pre eclampsia otherwise I would have gone to 38 wks and delivered undiagnosed twins.

shabster · 20/02/2008 17:53

twinbeans - we have some wonderful friends who we met in rhodes, several years ago - they live in Longridge in Preston - we meet often and have been away twice together to Rhodes - they are barking mad - which I find always helps.

snorris · 20/02/2008 17:55

It's not a silly question . A pony is under 14.2 hands (a hand is 4 inches) or if you prefer metric ,148cm.

I don't think I've said hello to nh,so welcome . I love shopping for new things (food's just an essential ). Would I be mad to persuade dh to go for no5 so I can buy lots more little baby things .
(OMG,I can't believe I said that!! )

iamdingdong · 20/02/2008 17:58

hi there I'm back - not that anyone would have noticed I'd gone have just spent a few days at my parents' and am really pleased to be home need a glass of wine now

shabster · 20/02/2008 18:10

Dingdong - WELCOME HOME I missed you

and Snorris - think I work out at just a midges widge bigger than a pony!!!! Im 4ft 11in - hope I am bigger.

iamdingdong · 20/02/2008 18:18

thanks shabs

my mother has driven me well and truly round the f-ing twist this time with her silent disapproval of my parenting of DT2, who as we know has been really poorly for a couple of weeks now, so not eating food and being grumpy have been the norm for her, but mother, ex gp and child psych, mother of 3 herself, is having no excuses

Momma, sorry for the spelling lesson, I loved English at school , shall I go to the Pedants corner? Ahh your DS1 is so cute. DD1 walked back to farm moaning that he didn't play with her toys (she'd hidden them in her bed to stop boys touching them). My DS1 was upset yours left without staying the night. I said maybe one day, when we're not a million miles away and about to move.

In other news, just to update everyone, agent called today to say we can sign a 6mth lease on Fri for the place we viewed last week. I'm so excited, should be able to get keys straight away and be moved in Sat.

piximon · 20/02/2008 20:33

Happy Birthday to your boys Leo! Can't believe how quickly the time has gone, seems like 5 mins since I was congratulating you on their birth.

iamdingdong · 20/02/2008 20:39

that's fab news pixi good luck with all the organising etc!

momma my mum has always given the impression that dt1 can do no wrong whilst dt2 is a stroppy little madam, although usually its the other way round (needless to say she never sees this ) so I have allowed myself to be manipulated by dt2 and am giving her too much of my time etc etc - all this whilst expressing concerns for how tired I look and how hard it must be to work f/t and have the 2 of them... so going to stay with them for a few days' 'rest' has proved to have quite the opposite effect!

piximon · 20/02/2008 20:43

LG&T do you want one of mine? On offer:

DS1 - likes to shout & fight, can't sit still for 5mins, good eater, gives good massages.

DD1 - very bossy, stubborn, breath holder, looks adorable and gives good huggles (kicks babies when no one is looking). Is the fussiest eater except at breakfast.

DT1 - still prone to throwing up. Clingy yet independent, hates strangers. Likes to chew anything unsuitable. Could double as hoover as likes to eat bits off carpet.

DT2 - just getting the hang of standing up. Likes to make nappies explode. Likes the sound of his own voice. Prone to issuing piercing screams in the night, will then go back off to sleep just as your heart has stopped.

DC5 - not here yet but bound to be a mixture of all of the above.

snorris · 20/02/2008 20:47

That's good news about the house . We've moved 4 times in the last 3 years and it hasn't got easier yet! I'm sure nobody is as disorganised as me though .

Do you still want visitors tomorrow or would you rather we left it until another time? I won't be offended if you say no (a bit miffed maybe ).

piximon · 20/02/2008 20:48

Dingdong, my dad is like that with my DS1/DD1. Could only see the bad in DS1 for years compared to his angel DD1. His eyes were truly opened when he came to spend the weekend recently and saw how wicked she tried to be to the DTs. He's now gone off her too and his favourite is DT2. Sorry no advice but just wanted you to know you're not alone. Welcome back by the way!

piximon · 20/02/2008 20:57

lol snorris, if I don't see you tomorrow it could be ages before I get the chance again. New house is tiny in comparison so we'd have some fun trying to fit in 8dcs if weather bad. Besides it's only fair DD1 gets her favourite girls back after the fun DS1 had today. Besides I couldn't ply Momma with any junk food as she lives on the sight of food alone and I still have tons of xmas stuff to shift.
But if journey too horrendous I will understand.

I meanwhile should be packing but just can't be bothered. Off to put the kettle on, any takers?

Have to say my fave bit of the day was watching Momma's DS1 pushing my DD1 on the swing so gently while simultaneously fighting off DS1s revenge attacks.

shabster · 20/02/2008 21:03

You sound like you have all had a good day - I bet you had the population of a small town between you all!! Would have loved to see all the DC. Piximon I lurve your description of your children - it made me lmao and I feel I can picture them all just from your description. Glad you got the house - moving is a pain I know.

Snorris have you decided if I am a pony or a proper horse! I hope Im not a pony
