Helooooo again. We had a family adventure today. 1st day out in the car with the lads as OH's b/day. Went to sisters for a roast and they lad s seemed to enjoy the trip. Very nearly got out on time too, which is a major achievement as we packed the kitchen sink and everything including bouncy chairs not realising that the poor babbies would not get to sit for a moment as they were nearly cuddled to pieces .
OH was well pleased with his 'DADDY' b/day card. Clever kids eh? Only 17 days old and managed to pick a really nice card.

shabster · 17/02/2008 21:56

Merlypuss - am very impressed at your adventure! OMG I remembered first trips with DTS's when I read your message. You sound like you did a great job

estar · 17/02/2008 22:16

Hiya. Just off to bed, thought I'd pop in and see if any confectionary was on offer tonight.

No? I'll make my own cup of tea and mosey on up to bed then.

estar - got a lovely pork chop left from sunday lunch - cooked them very slowly in the oven with a drizzle (heard me like I know what I am talking about) of Greek olive oil. I keep opening the fridge and thinking 'Leave it'

estar · 17/02/2008 22:35

Thanks shabs, but anything that requires more effort than actually just opening the fridge is illegal for me after nine o'clock.

And Momma - I love you

shabster · 17/02/2008 22:36

night night estar - im munching on the pork chop now

Half term up t'north is officially OVER.

Yeeeaaahhh.

Morning ladies

chopster · 18/02/2008 07:41

ok for some. Here, half term has jsut begun! It's 7.30 and the kids are already demanding breakfast - has nobody told them it's half term?!!!

I love spicy food, eat it by the bucketful. I have momma to thank for an addiction to scotch bonnet chillis now. I'm pretty good with indian cooking, learned from dp's gran, but gujarati style, which is a bit different to what you get in most indian takeaways.

shabster · 18/02/2008 08:03

Morning chops.

There is a destinct lack of enthusiasm up our stairs!! DS has been up with the lark all last week and now he is like a moody teenager AND his room stinks of teenage boy!! NICE.

Also trying to wake DH - he goes to adult college near home. Any minute now I am going to roar up the stairs we have to leave the house at 8.30!!

oh I wish mine were still small enough for baby jails! I loved mine, it was a godsend. Mine are all watching curious george while I get a bit of mnetting housework done, then I guess I should take them out.

shabster · 18/02/2008 09:54

DS1 and his DP's travel system (sure we used to call it a pram!) has just been delivered to our house! I want to nosey so bad!! They both work full time so it came to ours. Soooo expensive! I will need written instructions on how to change from pram to buggy etc .

Do know its the same colour as the Manchester City football kit - sky blue!! How posh am I going to be pushing our Lewis around in that - yyyeeeeaaaahhhh

mama - just looking at the huge box now - its a chicco action force!! the colour is called saturn blue - but it is very very similar to the man city kit. have texted to tell DS and DD that is here and DS is trying to figure out a way of getting home early to pick it up!!!!! He may be 26 but he is about 9 in his head with certain things.

After so many years of sadness and disappointment this little granbaby has given us all a kick up the bum and made everybody in the family smile - and he's not even here yet.

frumpygrumpy · 18/02/2008 10:52

I'm doing laundry, showering, posting letters, writing a letter, doing some online shopping, cleaning the fish bowl, cleaning the downstairs loo and my bathroom, making all the beds, making 4 phonecalls, cooking sweet and sour, and setting up Play Doh for when my explosion children get back in an effort to busy them so they stop squabbling, and washing the kitchen floor. And I'm nipping in to say hello!

Ooogs, you posted about settling twins at different times. My DP worked away for the first 3 years of my DTs lives, teatime and bedtime was my worst time! Remind me of age again? Sorry, I forget all the time what age everyones DTs are.

I had that too, one needing to sleep and both being desperate for me and DD1 watching telly. Its such a juggle. I did various things and for a while what worked was.....being all in the same room, DD1 on my bed watching CBeebies or other, one DT in a babywalker for damage limitation (can't read the phone wires or the lamps properly and I used it primarily for this purpose once they had learned to walk), balloons for batting about when that one gets bored or a big supply of things they don't usually get to touch (purses!), then swap around. I found that stage didn't last too long as they do begin to lose that desperation for bedtime milk. I will try to think what else I did.

So my half term has started well .

I have so far spent the whole friggin' morning de-lousing the children - and then myself!

We had a batch of headlice around New Year and spent ages with all the lotions and potions and crying while I went over and over and over their hair. Thought we were rid, but over the weekend saw them again, then checked my own hair and found one too!

Ds1 seems to be the worst off cos his hair is so thick. I'm not sure whether we didn't get rid of them properly last time, or whether I need to teach him to get new friends . So I have cut his hair as short as it will go without him looking like a marine, and convinced him that I have a magic PowerRangers comb that will destroy the enemy - as long as he sits still . The only happy one is dt2 who let me comb and stroke his hair all day long if he had his way, so he's in heaven. I can't bring myself to chop his lovely curls off, but if we carry on at this rate, I may have to!

Was thinking as I sat in the bathroom doing my own hair of a friend I bumped into last year who told me how grown up I seemed because I had all these children.

Right - she did a law degree and now gets to click around an office in high-heeled shoes all day. I get to know the ins and outs of every script of Dora the Explorer, wear hoodies smeared with baby vomit, and spend a full morning searching for nits. Who's grown up?

TripleyTigger · 18/02/2008 13:05

Why oh why did I give up smoking so close to half term

Took the kids out this morning, for a nice relaxing stroll. They asked me nicely if they could take their bikes. Of course!! Why not!!!

Why not?!!!!! Because there is a big main road near me that I have to cross to get to the fields.
I don't know how i did it,but I managed to get myself, one puppy who was straining at the lead for a poo, two wobbly riders and one Evil Knevel rider across the road safely.

Oh yeah, and half way into the walk Mo decided she needed a poo..........

Ah yes, Tigger, but imagine trying to do all that with a lit fag in your hand - that's why you gave up!
