Woohoo!
WE'VE FOUND THE HAMSTER!!!!!!!!!

Dh opened a kitchen cupboard and there she was. We reckon that she must have got under the bath, gone through a gap where the pipes are and ended up in the cupboard next to the one under the sink. She's now safely back in her cage and hopefully dd1 has now learnt her lesson.

We're very lucky round here as all the schools are very good and not many of them are "church" schools. The only concern I've got at the moment is that dd1 is due to go to the upper school in September and strictly speaking we are now out of the catchment area. I did send the form in with our old address before I knew where we were moving to . She has gone through the First & Middle schools that feed it though so we should be ok.

I'm off out on the horse this afternoon. I need it,I was sooo stressed yesterday and I've got whole week of it to look forward to .

shabster · 17/02/2008 11:50

Well just got back - all prayered out!

I have (for the first time) let DS (almost 11) go the the local shop on his own. It's only two streets away but I am holding my breath. Strange emotions like - DS3 was killed on a really sunny Sunday - I know, totally irational. I have to start giving him freedom but am soooooo scared.

Going to watch for him at the window, hurry up love

shabster · 17/02/2008 11:51

He's home

shabster · 17/02/2008 11:52

snorris - DS is so relieved about your hamster.............I just told him and he says yyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

shabster · 17/02/2008 11:55

snorris - DS is very impressed with the horse part of your post. He would like to know 'wow mum how can she afford a horse, is she a farmer or something or is she very rich.' 'A horse all of her own - wow, cool.'

He is animals mad.

snorris · 17/02/2008 12:01

Ha ha! I wish I was rich! I have ponies actually-cheap to keep & low maintenance. They live out in a field that I share with a friend. I suppose they are a luxury but I don't smoke or go out much and I try to spend as little as possible on them . Pictures are on my profile if he wants a nose at them.

Howdy all, its such a gorgeous day here, but I feel really today and can't quite shake it.
I was interested in the disucssion about faith schools last night, here in Wales we have the option of welsh medium schools, which have a pretty great record.
We can't afford to live in an area that has the best schools, but I am delighted with ds1 school so far. And the added bonus is that they will all be bi lingual, and we don't have to go to church

shabster · 17/02/2008 13:31

Overun - Im moving to Wales!! My FIL was from Bedwelty - he lived up in Greater Manchester for over 40 years but never, ever lost his welsh accent!! He used to call me Cariad - and he sang the Welsh national anthem in welsh - even though he couldn't speak any.

Its a beautiful day here too - know what you mean about those days when you cant shake off the feeling - xxxx

Hurray problem solved Shabster Its a lovely language but very very difficult to learn as an adult, well at least I am finding it so.
I should be happy as it so nice, but just so fed up today, oh well, bring on tomorrow

shabster · 17/02/2008 15:27

I have been trying to learn Greek for about 2 years - I struggle memory wise. When we are in Rhodes I have no problems - apart from our Greek friends speak to us in English! We got some CD's from the library to try to learn but I sit here like a goldfish trying to remember the words from about 2 minutes ago. I know some great Greek swear words tho!!!

They say 'sagapo' for I love you and they shout when the talk. 'sagapo' not very romatic is it??

very of your ponies, norris, they look gorgeous.

Where is everyone hiding??!

I'm terrible with languages full stop. I manage to get by in french or spanish on holiday, and I understand bits of hindi/gujarati and can normally follow the gist of a convo. But I have the memory problem too. I really want to get better at spanish, since it seems to becoming regular now that we go to spain in the summer.

I'm not sure I would fancy welsh. It does look extrememly hard, and doesn't really seem terribly useful! It is a beatiful sounding language though.

Overrun · 17/02/2008 17:40

Now Chopster I have to take issue with that, as it is very useful if you want to live in Wales.

chopster · 17/02/2008 17:43

So do your children speak welsh already overun?

shabster · 17/02/2008 17:51

Chops - you are a troublecauser DS had a nosey at your ponies AND read the words cheap. I keep telling him to have a horse or pony you have to win the lottery.

Also tell him it would help if you had grass somewhere near your house instead of living in a Coronation St lookalikey.

But NO you wreck my excuses!!

'I want a pony (he has never even sat on one) and Chops said its not expensive, and I would rather have a pony instead of going to Greece every year..........'

shabster · 17/02/2008 17:52

Sorry chops it wasnt you it was snorris!!!!

Overrun · 17/02/2008 18:02

Ds1 in reception, and is pretty fluent now, dts go to a welsh medium clych three times a week, and speak some words, but they have some speech difficulties anyway.
I am in the process of learning but am finding it hard work

snorris · 17/02/2008 18:40

Sorry! I should have said cheaper to keep (ie than a big horse!). Tell him you have to go and see it every day, twice a day no matter what the weather is and if you're ill they still have to be seen to. You have to muck out the stable or pick the pooh up from the fields. Umm,umm, they can bite & kick and it hurts if you fall off! .

I'll make a deal with him,if you are ever down this way,you are very welcome to come and see the ponies and maybe have a ride on one of them, but he's not to pester you about it .

shabster · 17/02/2008 19:24

snorris - he nodded wildly in agreement to your every word

Your right Mama - sssshhhh - its very quiet.

Just had the barman, from the hotel we go to in Greece, on MSN. My DS said 'oh look mum Nikos has got a web cam - I will ask him to turn it on'

This was about an hour ago and Im just calming down!! We nickname him - the beautiful one - 6' 7" very dark hair and eyes - but only 24 - younger than my DS1. Thank God we havent got a web cam cause he would have seen me acting like Homer Simpson does around doughnuts!!!!!

I have to control myself when he says things like 'do you still like me to make you screaming orgasm' 'or you like sex on the beach more'!!!!!!!!! He has no idea what he is doing to this old biddie - think he would have to go into counselling if you heard me! Well thats my excitement for the month over and done with
