Surfnicky · 16/01/2008 17:53

Hi everyone! Back again for more advice in a (rare) moment of 'me-time'!!

I am thinking of taking my DTS (now 20 weeks) swimming in the next few weeks...well, if I can find a pool nearby that has baby swimming sessions, that is.

My DH will come with me (don't think I can handle them on my own just yet!) but wondered whether you very experienced mums have any advice for me.

Do family changing rooms mean that my DH can come in to them too? Am imagining that I'll need to BF them immediately afterwards and will need another pair of hands to pacify the second baby.

Do I just take them in a swim nappy - they don't need ridiculous mini bikinis do they??

Any other tips?? Am a little nervous but think it will be a great thing for my DH and I to do together on the weekend with them.

Chopster · 16/01/2008 17:55

swim nappy def enough on its own - its worth buying a washable one they look nice alone and saves £££.
I'd ring the pool and ask about family cahnging, or, we jsut take one baby each if they don't have family changing rooms. Good luck! Mine adore swimming.

Leoloopydoo · 16/01/2008 20:06

Great idea Nicky! They need swimming nappies. Don't know anything about family changing rooms, but if they don't have them your dh can take one baby and you the other? When mine were small we use to take them in the car seats so they aren't on dirty, wet changing room floors. I also uset to change them by the pool rather than in the changing room, that way they don't get cold - especially when they come out. Tke them into the water very slowly, so its not a shock, you don't wnat ot put them off straight away. Enjoy !

MarsLady · 16/01/2008 20:13

Leo I need your DTs birthdate! You can email me if you don't want to post. I'm sorting my doula baby album and I want them in it. I'm doing it in birth order.

gotta go. Watching "So you think you can dance" with DD1.

oooggs · 16/01/2008 20:49

leo - how are your two doing at night? and how mobile are they? and why isn't your profile working so we can see photos?

Hi,
21.28Ppm and not a child in the house asleep, but at least they are not rowing! They did that earlier, came out of school, and Rebecca blabbed that James had got into trouble today for something trivial, so he burst into tears, Harry dropped us off and went back to his gardening job, I am fumbling at the door clutching lunch bags etc, we all fall in then I realize no James. Look up the road, other two are in having a drink, tell them to stay put not open door, I go off up the road looking for the escapee! There he is heading for the village, something they have never done yet as its a main road. So I shout him to stop, he does, hold his hand and lead him back. Before we turn the corner our neighbour stops to ask me something, so James says he is going in, I am 4-5mins talking to our neighbour, turn the corner and there is James. "What took you so long" he says! Approach the front door and my heart lurches as I can see Rebecca cowering in the corner of our sitting room sobbing hysterically. Fly in and she rushes to me saying, "I thought you were dead". I said why? She said James had come home and told her and Thomas that I had been hit by a car and was lying dead in the road!! Poor little girl. As for Thomas he was on here playing games and didnt even look round but just said, youre not dead then!"It could alsmost be funny! They should be so tired after last night, little devils. Frumpy, thanks for the offer of the book, I am going to order one from Amazon, and thank you for your good advice, it is all taken on board. Tomorrow is Harrys b/day, we have made a cake, lovely orange icing and loads of choc buttons, Beccas choice! We are going to Canterbury, and have a nice lunch, then hopefully it will be a quiet night with the kids. One of DH pressies is a road map of Europe, ours is ancient, he will say "that will be handy if we go to France this year". Then I will tell him that I have a surprise, I have booked a midweek break at Center Parcs in Holland in May halfterm, and we have a VIP villa with sauna on a lake! Hope he`ll be pleased! I am trying!

triplets · 16/01/2008 21:54

Frumpy or Momma, just looked on Amazon and there are two with similar titles, one is by Adele Faber, published 2001, the other is by Wright, published 2004, which one please?

momma I am in absolute awe of your dedication to your exclusion diet, how on earth do you manage to do all that cooking, baking and thinking up new ideas with such young twins

triplets · 16/01/2008 22:02

Thanks IMF, yes I felt so very sorry for her, she was obviously frightened, she is a darling....at times! Those boys are still whispering up there, almost midnight last night when they went to sleep after the show, need to be up earlier tomorrow to allow time for their fathers b/day!

TripleyTigger · 16/01/2008 22:23
tkband3 · 16/01/2008 22:46

help needed here girls.

Triplets, I hope Rebecca is feeling better. Children can be so cruel to each other. I hope Harry likes his surprise as well.

Tripley how did the no-smoking go today? (I'm with you on the mooncup front as well - can't get my head round that at all!!)

Did we ever find out if it is Mars who's going to stay at Gabby's castle? .

Took DTs out for lunch today. First time since potty training. Didn't realise till it was too late that the loos were downstairs. FIVE times we went to the loo in an hour and a quarter . The waiter was laughing at me by the 4th time. But we had no accidents the whole time we were out and they even managed an hour's sleep each as well.
