hmm, now you can't tone fat can you! I have too much of that to worry about toning. rofl at sitting on the comfty weight machines and watching mtv. I see them more as instruments of torture!
chapatis, nope not a clue! Actually I don't make them very often, cos if you can get them the elephant atta ones in packets are really really good. Heat them up on a frying pan or tava (indian flat frying pan) and smear with a bit of butter/flora/whatever.
If you do want to make them, it is jsut chapati flour and water. You should be able tog et that in leeds, if not use equal amounts of wholemeal/plain. its then roughly equal mls of water to the grams of flour so maybe 200g flour, 200mls water. knead it really really well, then leave it to rest. roll out on a dusted surface, but be careful not to use too much flour for dusting, and you need to make them as thin as possible.
you want a nice hot pan, really one with a nice flat base, like a tava or a paella pan. You cook it for about ten secs then flip, then repeat a few times until it starts to puff up. Press down on where it is puffing up to spread it and make the whole thing nice and puffy.
I think it is a lot of hassle. If I'm going to make bread I make either parathas (making cauli stuffed ones today actually) or puris - the small round flat breads that are deep fried so they puff right up into balls andare all flakey and heavenly with chai! Also very nice with chaat or anything really.
Aargh, now I'm hungry and it's only 8.15.
fg, I'm back y'know, where are my fluffed up cushions?
