I always, always hated seeing twins dressed idetically and when I found out i was having twins I sowre I'd ever do it ...

so can someone PLEASE tell me why I cannot stop myself going out and buying two of the same of everything??? Am i going mad or does this just happen and you can't stop it?

I think sometimes it's just much easier to dress twins the same though I feel it's very important not to as amongst other reasons it's far easier for others to tell the children apart if they're not identically dressed!

I was in M&S lunchtime (fab sale on) and picking up little dresses and one was much nicer than the other and I couldn't then imagine putting one baby in the less pretty dress, it didn't seem fair. I'm losing the plot I think.

it is easier. You don;t say how old yours are, but when mine were small they were always identical. They are nearly 2 now, and through the last year they are having less the same, and clothes that reflect their personality and suit them more.

Mine aren't born yet, I've just found out the sex and can't stop myself picking outfits up in the sales.

I can see them being different as they get older, but at the moment it just makes sense to my pg brain that they have the same.

If I ever have twins I am so getting the t-shirts from No Added Sugar:

One says "SN" the other "AP!"

They are just soooo cute (though not cheap!)

I try not to dress them the same.....it's blooming hard sometimes though, I can barely muster up the energy to decide what I'm going to wear of a day, never mind 2 girls and a wee boy!!
There have been a few occaisions when I've just thought...bugger it they can wear the same!!! It did look really cute though (I didn't say that right )
They do have some things the same but in different colours! Does that count?

Fiona Gibson sums it up well in her book Fish Finger Years "Dressing twins in identical outfits might look cute, but be prepared to have strangers and even close friends refer to them as 'this one' and 'that one'.

I personally hate mine dressed the same but also struggle with the 'this outfit is not as nice as that one' dilemma!

I have never dressed my identical girls (3 years) the same, I refuse to, even when people who know I wont but still insist on buying two of the same outfit, They even have thier own clothes and shoes and only share things like socks and pants, however for some reason I always have thier hair the same, pony tail, plaits etc, I just cant bring myself to do thier hair different from each other.

I don't dress mine the same, never wanted to, but I do tend to buy them the same outfit in different colours since this makes dressing in the morning slightly easier and counteracts 'nicer outfit' problem - it does cause rpoblems for me though when I see something gorgeous and don't buy it jsut cause it only comes in one colour! Other people do insist on buying them the same outfits though, nothing you can do about that

Oh yes I do dress them similair, I could'nt put one in a skirt and one in trousers.

I don't dress mine the same because I have b/g twins. However, to a certain extent they want to be similar and I can't get away with mixing things up too much. Not always clothes in my case (sometimes) but in everything else. Hugs, food, climbing in the car not being lifted in, chicken pox (yes, one of mine wailed "where's MY ticken pops"), same jamas on (pink and blue versions), if one has slippers on the other does too, the list is endless. I think a lot of it is age related. When they were tiny I didn't have enough time to think so they wore the same babygrows in pink or blue or white.

I'd only worry if you still feel the need to dress them the same when they are 27

Oh dont be its a PITA, and takes to long, They are having thier hair cut into bobs next week ready for the summer.

oh well there's another haircuts - I haven't taken them yet and have to within the next 2 weeks as we have a family wedding, I'm scared

Yes, the first time is scary, but most hairdressers are pretty good and handling children, dont take them on your own though, as they will probably want to sit on your lap so you will need someone to look after the other one

yes I thought about that, will ask granny to come, or will take them on their own separately as hairdresser's is next to their nursery... must get it booked... stop putting it off...

dt2 had to go to nursery without dt1 today as she was poorly, it is the first time they have been seperated and I did'nt know how she would react (they are incredibly close) anyway the teachers said she did brilliant, a bit quiet but there were no tears, they said they were so proud of her...........it put a lump in my throat

I dressed my boy/boy twins identical...and of course people still asked if they were twins...haha i think it looks lovely..and when they get older they are much easier to spot in playareas etc...you always spot the 2 that are dressed the same.....so easier to keep an eye on them.

I have boy/girl twins too who are 2 and a bit now...i used to colour co-ordinate their outfits......

we have limited shops here on this island so to find all different outfits i liked is tricky!.x

Hiya All,

I have never dressed my idents the same, not only because I want them to individuals but it helps me tell who's who!

I do, however, dress them the same if we are going to a softplay centre in really bright colours so that they are easy to spot!

hiya,
i have twin boys...23 months and they have the dr seuss t-shirts 'thing 1 & thing 2'
i love 'em!
they also have the same tops with 'twin 1 & twin 2' on them...only because the youngest one looks the eldest.

i do like dressing them the same because they look so different...i mean it they are TOTALLY different!!

but god i love them loads!
