all hail LG&T! How is it going today?

Hi Kelly! Anyone else around?

Just been to the docs with DD for her first jabs, she SCREAMED proper screams and cried real tears, aaahhhh. She is now 10lb 9oz so just under the 50th centile for weight but not surprisingly she is on the 75th for length (me 5 foot 11, DH 6 foot 3).

Doc was asking me about contraception and what I plan to use, I dont know what to use this time as not planning any more children.....what does everyone else use? She suggested the coil but that scares me a bit to be honest! The thought of having something inside you, although why that worries me after going through childbirth twice (well, three times I suppose) I dont know!

Huge hug Piximom! (I expecting one back in a few weeks when I am where you are !)!
No names yet, wow, here we have to register the babies with names within 3 days!

HM, I had a coil after ds was born (got pregnant with the twins the day it was taken out ). It also felt wierd to me(psychologically) that I had something inside me even though I couldn't feel it. But i got used to it and have to say that it is the best contraception I have used. No hormones, no mess, no preparation, for me absolutely no side effects.

HM, as usual I have been trying to catch up with what every one is doing before posting, but your comment about the gp and the coil struck a cord.
I had the same advice and still havne't gone for it, for a number of reasons really, but one of them, was I really have been through enough.
Its another procedure isn't it, and a supposedly painful one as well, no thanks. I think dh is going to go for a Vasectomy, I am done on the contraception front.
We use condoms can you believe? Like teenagers, but there are the least non invasive contraception, so hey

Overrun, its no worse than having a smear, in fact I found it was half as bad as that! It didn't hurt when I had it fitted. I did feel it when i had it taken out but the doctor did is so quickly that I didn't have time to think about it, was more shocked that he dangled it in my face to show me what it looked like (yueeeeeek) and that's nothing to worry about for a while anyway.

Overrun · 24/01/2007 17:29

thanks Leo, glad it didn't hurt too much for you, lots of people i know report it being painful, so I guess that just put me off. When I was about 22 they tried to fit the coil as an emergency contraception method as I couldn't take the morning after pill, that was agony and they had to stop, but I hadn't had children then.
Glad it worked for you

Uuurgh, I can understand why you have been put off!

Kelly1978 · 24/01/2007 18:05

I've had a coil in the past, and insertation wasnt painful, but I had bad cramps afterwards and they didn't go away after about 2/3 weeks so I ended up having it out.

The pill doesnt agree with me at all, have tried abt 5 different ones, so daren't try any implant neither.

While using the cap I fell pg with the dts

So we use condoms, but, I'm 3 days late, please send your best 'no baby' vibes this way!

Kelly1978 · 24/01/2007 18:06

insertation?? I'm making up my own words now!

I had no probs having the coil put in and i reeeeeally hate any messing down there. I had the mirena one and it was supposed to be 'magic' and cure all my probs. I have very heavy, painful periods and all the womwn in my family end up with hysterectomys in their 30's. I just bled for 6 months and they had to take it ou I was sooo hopeful. It didnt hurt coming out either more like a ping! Very odd.

As you can probably tell im not very good on the contraceptive front... I was waiting last year to be have blood tests to see how high my risk of DVT'S was as when i wa 14 i was prescribed Femodene which worked fine, but was taken off it as my dad has suffered DVT'S. I never found a good pill again. I have no idea what i will use after this one????

Oh HM i hate the jabs, im sending dh this time. Poor baby, they just look at you as if to say how could you do it to me?? Horrible, well done for getting through it.

DD went to the hospital today as she has always suffered with glue ear, i have been putting off gromits and adenoids for a couple of years as i hoped she would grow out of it. It's not working out like that so she is on the list In 3-4 months she will be seen though which is better than the list in Plymouth was.

We also have a meeting with the educational psychologist tomorrow to discuss her lack of progress in school. Oh if it doesnt rain it pours.....

On the upside have just fed them all dominos for tea, so no dishes. Bad mommy....

Hello ladies, I'm new to MN but your thread(s!) caught my eye - you guys have been chatting for ages. I'm not sure how to start but guess I'll just jump in with the basics. I have boy twins, now 3.5 and another boy 22 months. All gorgeous but often driving me up the wall at the same time. To get to the real basics on tonights conversation I also had a coil fitted about 3 months ago after a scare with forgotten pills - how are you supposed to remember to take a pill each morning when you hardly have time to brush you teeth I will never know. Anyway it was really quick and easy to install (!) and the best thing since sliced bread - what a relief just not to have to think taking the pill or getting repeat prescriptions - thoroughly recommended.

mmmm creme eggs, I love them!! Are they in the shops yet? See how often I get out..

Welcome Rosmerrin - whereabouts in the country are you, are you a stay at home mum? You need to answer all our questions so you can settle in quickly! We are a bossy bunch you know! HOw did you find having a two year gap between yours. I have twin boys aged 2 years and 2 months, and an 8 week old DD and my main nightmare is moving the three of them around. So far I have tried the double buggy and a sling for the baby and now have a buggy board on the back of the buggy for one of teh twins to stand on. Its early days, and they keep getting off, aaaaaaaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhh

LG&T - I am having an LG&T in your honour!

And thanks to eveyrone for your comments re contraception - Overrun, we too are using condoms at present (I say at present, its only been the once since DD was born!) - I think I will probably go back on the pill as all the others scare me a bit. I read about the coil and it was talking about feeling the threads hanging down to check it was still there..........aaaaahhhhhh

Hi Harrogatemum - I had noticed you were a bossy bunch from what I had read so far. I didnt want to yak on and come over all pushy as I am new! I am 38 and live in Cornwall. I was a solicitor before I stopped to have the DTs and have managed to con my way out of returning to work, although my DH, also a solicitor, mentions it from time to time. I am trying to avoid it until DS3 goes to school in Sept 09 - so far so good! You have got a very similar age gap to my boys - I mainly avoided leaving the house alone with all 3 until the DTs were about 2.5 unless it was a quick transfer from car to building - they get away from you so quickly the slippery little b*ers. I found keeping the DTs on wrist reins and the baby in a buggy the most efficient method, now the DTs fight over who pushes the buggy and who sits on DS3's lap in the buggy so I am a real sight going to and from pre-school. So far removed from my previous life in a suit and makeup.

aaah tell me about it, I ran a busy CUstomer Service Department and even went back and did it 4 days a week after the DTs. Now I am a sight to behold looking like a pack horse walking the boys down to nursery with all the yummy mummys looking me up and down and smirking, ha ha!

Which part of Cornwall are you in, we were down there for a week in September staying just near ST Mawes, had a FAB time. I love Cornwall but am about as far from there as you can be - Yorkshire!

evening all, welcome to rosmerrin

this is the start of my w/e as I have done my 3 days' work obviously the next 2 at home with the DTs will be so much easier than working swimming again tomorrow and I have promised them lunch out too, so that should take up a fair part of the day

sorry to hear yours are still being pesky overrun, DT2 had a major strop tonight, over-tired I think, they have been extremely grumpy every night after a day at nursery...

LG&T I think the navy have a flaming cheek and will come and tell them so for you! I am in complete awe of how you cope, since I barely manage with just the 2!

What about this meet up then?

And where's Mars & FG?

Where near St Mawes, Harrowgatemum? I am not far from there, in Feock nr Truro - by the water - blissful, moved down from Hertfordshire about 5 years ago now - just in time to get a new house, new job, married and have 2 boys all in 13 months! It has settled down a bit now tho.

You're right, hanging down sounds awful, but they are not hanging out! - just from the cervix so it can be removed as and when. You never notice it and its so convenient!!!
