Congratulations HM, glad everything went smoothly and what a beautiful name she has.

HarktheHarrogateMumisSinging · 02/12/2006 18:34

Thanks everyone! She is gorgeous but what a sucker - owwwwww. I know its not supposed to hurt but last night we woke up to find she had blood on her babygro - obviously after the initial panic we realised that she had made one of my nipples bleed and had then had a bit of a vomit and brought it back up, it was a scary moment. Every time she latches on I wince and then for the whole of the feed....although my Mum helpfully said today "shouldnt it be 5 minutes each side? It was when I did it". AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Anyway, please feel free to give her a big cuddle..so far she has hardly cried, I am just waiting for it to happen!

ThrockenAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/12/2006 19:15

HM- hopefully you and she will both get hardened to it soon and everything will go swimmingly. Time to develop selective hearing - especially when your mum is around . Do your older ones like have a baby sister ?

I am not sure I can cope with this new name - it is a bit unwieldy - I feel like I am walking around with a very large hat on my head - and walking very carefully .

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 02/12/2006 19:31

Evening all. HM, nice to hear from you, glad things are going well, if a bit painfully!

I've been at a birthday party with the DTs this pm, I think it wore me out more than them, off to veg in front of the fire & attempt to read the paper

leogaela · 02/12/2006 20:52

Oh, I had forgotten that bfeeding can be so painful! Not going to think about it with 2 to feed this time! I hope it gets better HM. When I was in hospital after ds was born they used to bring us sage tea (not to drink), sage is supposed to have wonderful soothing, healing properties and sticking the warm teabag on your nipples works wonders.

Reading all your comments about how wonderful it is to snuggle up with your newborn baby made me feel all warm, but then wondering how does it work with 2 (and i still love snuggling up with ds, I miss not being able to cuddle him on my belly)!

Have a bad cold at the moment and I've started to feel achey and tired in my back and hips. I spend 2 hours in the bath this afternoon which worked wonders !

Overrun - glad to hear that your dt1's op went well. I can only imagine how anxoious you must have been. I get into panicky sweats when I have ot take ds to the doctor for his injections just in case something goes wrong !

Kelly - no news is good news I hope. If it was bad I'm sure you would have heard something earlier.

An update on my friend's ds - he is now doing great ! He is being treated for jaundice so sitll in hospital, but otherwise strong, growing and feeding well. I am really proud of my friend, she has coped really well and spent every moment possible with him to ensure they bond and so she could bfeed him as often as possible. He should be home today already or tomorrow.

SO, its decided that I will definitely finish work at the end of December (which means 21st dec, as last week I have holiday!), its a bit of a shock and means that I really have to start planning and facing the reality that I will be having twins sooner. It will be strange having time off work with nothing to do!

Ds had really bad bronchitis again this week, we have him on all kinds of drugs. Anyone have a magical solution to prevent him getting this everytime he gets a cold? Has anyone tried homeopathy or other natural medicine?

leogaela · 02/12/2006 20:53

Oh, htat was a long post!

RudolphTheRedNoseGlamourbadger · 02/12/2006 21:20

Congratulations HM!

Have been lurking around these parts for the last week and glad to hear your little lovely has arrived safe and well. Name is gorgeous! Whenever my mother offered "helpful" comments I used to retaliate with things like "hmmm - didn't you used to put butter on my burns?" or "was it true I slept in the footwell of the car on long journeys?".

I'm not usually much of a joiner but felt it rude to arrive at the party without tarting myself up for the festive season...

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 03/12/2006 01:20

Well done RRNGB! Welcome back aboard!

HM... is she latching on properly? Ooh it will be hard to give bfing advice in posts.

Also.... where's my photo? Could HD bring her down with him next time he's in London and I could look after/keep her?

charleymouse · 03/12/2006 12:23

Congratulations HM, she sounds wonderful and such a pretty name. DD will be pleased when I tell her you had a baby for her birthday.

I am back at work tomorrow so hopefully will be able to catch up with you guys a bit more obviously whilst dutifully working hard at the same time .

I am sneaking on today whilst I help DH out at work (fish shop) but we fight for the computer he wants to watch youtube and I want to be on MN. He has a customer to deal with at the minute so I have free rein.

I will get a Christmas name sorted out for tomorrow - promise.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 03/12/2006 12:33

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 04/12/2006 08:43

Morning ladies. Have you seen these?

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 04/12/2006 09:00

wewishyouamerrychristmouse · 04/12/2006 13:03

Charleymouse twirls in boasting her new Christmassy name.

Good morning oops afternoon everyone. I am still waiting for the answer re the confectionary quiz ladies. I assured mum you would know the answers, she was kicking herself re the Matchmakers clue he he.

Hope you are all keeping well and those bumps aren't causing anymore MS. Mine thankfully has gone away (fingers crossed).

DeckthehallswithFrumpyGrumpy · 04/12/2006 13:29

thanks dingdong (how will I ever go back to calling you lapin??), I quite like FrumpytheGrumpyreindeer! It could be THE one .

Leo, I'm thinking leogaelaleaping (as in 7 lords a leaping) or leogaelainamanger.......will keep running it around my head....

FrumpytheGrumpyreindeer · 04/12/2006 13:41

Is it me?

Do I suit my nose this colour?

I knew I should have used straighteners on my hair!

wewishyouamerrychristmouse · 04/12/2006 13:55

Oops wrong thread - obviously as the MW at QMC told me last week I do not have to apologiese for getting things wrong or not having a clue what is happening as I am pregnant. TWICE.

For those who are now intrigued my mum is sorting out a quiz for a local club and she is pinching some questions from a quiz sheet I gave her last year on sweets and chocolate. The clues are as follows and the brackets denote how many letters are in the answer.

marriage planners (11)
take a vitamin to escape the flu (7)

Someone has given me the answer to the first one but thought I would whet your appetite with that one as well.

Your bum doesn't look big in that FTGR (not that it did anyway obviously)

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 04/12/2006 14:33

oh frumpy that colour is so you

christmouse I am stumped by the second clue, it will bug me all afternoon now, I don't think my brain ever recovered from being pregnant - its had nearly 3 yrs to get over it, don't think it ever will

Overrunderthemistletoe · 04/12/2006 19:55

Once again really hard to catch up, sorry but we have had so much going on this week. May do a link for it.
HM, if its hurting it probably means that she is not latched on properly. I know you are probably thinking oh I am a seasoned bfeeder, this wouldn't happen. But a good midwife said to me in the early days of having the twins, that you feed older children at a different angle, so I was trying to feed the dts as I had fed their 13 month old brother when I had stopped. Hope that helps.
If I have got the wrong end of the stick and you didn't bf the twins, then I still think you might have the latch wrong, or cracked nipples sound likely with the bleeding.
hello every one else, just a flying visit really
