Happy Birthday Trips Mum Smile

Both my parents are 'knocking on heavens door.' Way beyond sad....and dont anyone tell me there is a God. IF there was he would not let my parents suffer like they are doing. I am trying to help in every way I can but it is like stopping a flood with a very small hankie.

MultipleMama · 07/02/2014 01:56

Shabs, to watch a parent suffer is something a child of any age should see. I watched my mama fight a losing battle with Cancer, everyday she got worse, everyday I lost a part of who she used to be. In the end, she became so weak that she did not have the energy to say my name or hug me. After watching someone suffer for so long the good memories are slowly replaced by ones you wish you could forget. Shabs, I truely hope your parents find some peace among this life and they're blessed to have caring daughter like you. Flowers

I need my bed...

MultipleMama · 07/02/2014 01:56

Shouldn't see*

MiniSoksMakeHardWork · 07/02/2014 08:19

Oh mama. Sounds like Apollo is doing great. You obviously needed the sleep!

Shabs. There's nothing I can say that will take any of your pain away. So I'm afraid I shall just have to offer you great big and very un-mn hugs so you know you are all in my thoughts.

Morning girls xx

Sorry for my drunken rant last night and thank you for your support - it means a lot xx

Chopstheduck · 07/02/2014 09:08

aww shabs, rant away! Thanks

DS1's asd assessment today, eeek! Really don't know what I am hoping for. A dx will mean it's easier for him to access services when he needs them, but then it's also a label which might have ramifications he doesn't need to be dealing with. Aaargh! At least should get an answer one way or another.

In the past we were told he was too severe for Aspergers and he was PDD-NOS, then we were told his notes said ASD. Then a second paed said, nah, none of those. So it's been up in the air for years!

MultipleMama · 07/02/2014 14:52

Hope the assessment goes well, Chops!

How are the rest of you lovely ladies?

I've felt quite refreshed today. Enjoyed a lovely walk with the DC before dropping them off to my BiL who is taking them to the muesum. I am currently settled into a double bed with my book in lamp lit room while the A-team sleep the world away.

Next week the supply company is coming round to talk about the o2 concentrator and who to use and look after it and the when the hospital has given us a release date they will come install it! :) one step closer!

Chopstheduck · 07/02/2014 15:00

and after 2 hours in clinic, the answer is...

...maybe!

It's a scoring system and he didn't quite have enough points for a dx there and then. But he is borderline, has def concerns still, and a strong history so they want to see old reports and speak to his school with a view to dx in a few weeks.

triplets · 07/02/2014 21:55

Evening all......wish I could cast a magic spell and put everything right for you all, so many worries on here. I have felt in a niggly mood all day to do with relatives (not mine).......but I am not going to dwell on it, life is too short!

MultipleMama · 07/02/2014 22:07

I bet that's frustrating, Chops! Let's hope something comes of it in a few weeks! :)

Apollo's allergy reports came back (they did all kinds of testing in case his hypersensivity was due to something else) and he is not only allergic to Iburofen but latex too so we've told to watch for certain food allergies when he's older.

Ladies do you know where I can find proper hypoallegtic bedding and/or baby clothes? The doctor suggested we try that too...

bubby64 · 08/02/2014 00:23

Hi there ladies.
Mama- positive vibes that they are talking about making prep for Apollo to go home, can't help with hypoallergenic stuff, sorry, but there is bound to be a forum on Mnet where they can help.
Shabs - I know what you are feeling, as I have it with mum every day, so rant away. I have faith, but it does get shaky at times, so I do understand where you are coming from. I have spent the last few days back and forth to her as she wasnt eating, finally, when I went in during my lunch break yesterday, she asked me to take her to the loo, and it turns out she was constipated. Afte that, she ate her meal with gusto. Really thinking surely they nursing home staff should have been monitoring things and realised what was wrong.
Trips - Dont dwell too much if you can help it.
Chops - How frustrating for you all! I know it is very hard puting any finger on anything within the autistic spectrum, but at least they will keep him on assessment as they know there is something there, if not what.
Flooding here quite bad, I am wondering how Rubes is, as it is slightly worse towards where she lives. I had to try different ways to get to work this morning, got there following route number 3!
Then I got a call from High school this afternoon, J had had an accident, and could I collect him and take him to A+E! He had tripped, and caught his foot on a post whilst falling, and it was swelling beautifully by the time I got there. 4hrs in A+E later, he has fractured 2 small bones in his foot, bad enough to need tubigrip and crutches, but they dont think it was bad enough to need a caste. Now he is home, dosed up o soluble co-codamol (A+E Dr said he thought he needed a bit more than just paracetamol) and I am absolutely knackered. Yesterday i got home from work and was so tired I fell asleep in the chair still wearing coat, work clothes, the lot! DH got tea, but I was too tired to eat that, so went to bed at 7pm, and slept through. Going to bed now, and, hopefully, can sleep in til about 10am, then got to go over to see FiL, he lives not far from where the gas explosion was the other day.

bubby64 · 08/02/2014 00:29

Oh, and forgot to add, just another thing adding to the stres here, Jazz cat came in Wednesday limping badly and with hind leg very swollen, took her to vet, and they say she also has broken bones in her paw, again, luckily not bad enough to need anything other than rest and pain relief, isnt it strange how J has done almost exactly the same thing!

triplets · 08/02/2014 04:01

Hi Bubbs, oh dear poor you.............just saw it in FB about J. Trials and tribulations of life! I am wide awake, worrying about something silly really, its lashing it down outside, blowing a real gale, poor Thomas will be up at 6.30am to do his paper round poor kid........might get up and do it with him. Just feeling restless and fed up with life atm. On top of everything my lovely brother with the heart problems has been told this week the new stent they put in is not working. He had a triple by-pass three years ago, he found out last summer it has failed, so all they could do was stent his 4th artery which was then 40% blocked. That's failed too, so he has been told there is nothing more they can do other than try to control the pain. He is 63 and so lovely it breaks my heart. He lives alone, has two daughters, one lives nr Birmingham and although the other one lives here she is so full of her own life she never helps him, even when he`s asked for it. Right will see if reading sends me off to sleep..................

Chopstheduck · 08/02/2014 06:23

what a strange coincidence! Hope both J and the cat are better soon, bubby xx

I was looking back through all of ds1's reports - it's been 7 years since we first started investigating the whole thing. They were lovely at least, and hopefully it will mean he will get more support, regardless of the outcome wrt diagnosis.

Trips, I am sorry to hear about your brother :(

I've already been up an hour - bloody cold! It seemed to be getting better yesterday and now gone downhill again!

We've been quite lucky with the rain really. Only some flooding. The road to dd's school keeps getting cut off, but I guess the buses must be taking an alternative route, as she has been getting there ok. I am very thankful atm that we live at the top of a hill miles from any rivers.

That reminds me - I am very proud of dt1 - he has been selected to represent the school in three more cross country races across the county - providing the floods clear enough from the courses.

MiniSoksMakeHardWork · 08/02/2014 08:08

Oh chops! I am sending the most huggiest of hugs. I can't remember how old your J is but I remember you telling me all that time ago when I joined your thread that it must be in the name! We are only at the start of our journey at the moment and it's comparatively shorter than yours as mine is younger. I can't imagine how we would be if bigger was older.

After dh lost his temper with the HV team we finally have a date for a caf (fsp I think they are now). And I've started taking bigger to an additional needs group. Plus we got a letter that gave us an actual appointment the other day, rather than 'on the waiting list, to be contacted in due course'. I danced around the house!

Mama - I know I/my niece were advised to avoid bananas due to latex allery. Not a problem for me as I really don't like them but my poor niece gets most upset if we mention the B word. So they're bendy fruit when she's around.

Plenty of rain where we are. Is it rubes that's nearish me? I can't remember. Possibly not as we're not too bad here. The usually areas are flooded and the rivers are high. But the town river hasn't got as high as it did a few weeks ago - was touching the bottom of the bridge. And risking going over newly raised flood defences. Thankfully we are nowhere near all that.

Morning girls xx

Trips - so sorry to hear about your brothers health problems. xx

Chopstheduck · 08/02/2014 11:27

Soks, it's funny actually, I was chatting to someone on another site (fitness related) yesterday and she has a J with issues too! Thank you for the hugs. It is starting to feel like a bit of light at the end of the tunnel at least, will be nice to have an end to the constant trying to diagnose him. I mean, really, you would think his list of conditions is long enough already!

good luck with the caf! It does sound like things will move a lot quicker for you, which is brilliant. I think my J would have been sorted a long time ago had his first paed not retired.

bubby64 · 08/02/2014 22:00

Trips- sorry to hear about your brother, is really so sad.
Soks-glad you are a little further forward with the assessment for your son.
Gales and rain continue, glad we live at the yop of a hill!
Went to see FiL today, and the smell of urine hit us as soon as we opened the doorConfused. He is obviously incontinent, and has no sense of smell. The only thing to get the house sorted would be to pull all the carpets up, as they are beyond shampooing. DH and his brothers have all offered to help, but he wont accept that there is a problem. His neighbours will start complaining soonSad

triplets · 08/02/2014 22:47

Help! Need to send an email, jut gone into Hotmail an it wont let me. says looks as though someone is trying to use your account, then it asks me to verify by put in in the last 4 digits of my phone number then they will send me a code. put the number in but it won`t accept them, what an I do.................help Shock

triplets · 09/02/2014 07:09

shabbs · 09/02/2014 08:24

Morning girls xx

bubby64 · 09/02/2014 13:01

Afternoon. Trips, glad you sorted it. Horrible weather here, wind and rain continues.
Somehow, the extension lead to our chest freezer had got turned off sometime in the past day, so its all defrostedSad Luckily, it was 3/4 empty, as it needs to be moved back into the conservatory. Lunch here consisted of a mound of fishfingers, chips peas and sweetcorn, I have cooked up the mince and sausages to re-freeze as meals, and had to throw out somevother stuff, but, hopefully haven't losst too much moneys worth.

bubby64 · 09/02/2014 22:50

2nd defrosted food meal - Chinese pork ribs, curly fries(bought for an occasional treat for DC) chicken goujons and peas, I have made spag bol and chicken curry and frozen them, and also cooked the gammon. Thats saved most of the things that were in the freezer!
