Well done Tomster, bright lad............just like his Mam:)
Oh its dd again, I truly dont know what to do with her. She was told not to brings friends home after school, she was to have a night in. So just after three the phone goes and she says she and her best friend are going to another friends house. I told her to come home but she didnt. Then at 5pm she rings using friends phone as hers was here, asks what time she has to be back. I told her 6pm at the very latest. At 6pm she phones and says can she stay out longer as she is just sitting down to tea at her friends!! I was furious as her chicken dinner was in the oven, we all had fish and she doesnt like it. I slammed the phone down on her. 40 mins later she swans in, no apology then goes upstairs and locks herself in the bathroom and runs the bath. Been in her room the rest of the night. What do I do? I feel like standing outside the school gate and escorting her home..............shed love that! Trouble is there are 3 exits!!

Morning girls x

trips, I would have gone out and physically hauled her back from her friends. I will not be defied, it makes my blood boil!

I overselpt today, been a mad rush! I think it's going to be another one of those manic day

bubby64 · 08/11/2012 09:46

Oh Trips - She is really taking you for granted, isnt she, I think the time has come for a reality check, stop making her food unless she is actually present in the house at least 30 minute before the mealtime, and also present her with a bill for last nights ruined meal, and dock the apropriate amount from her pocket money! Or can you ring the friends Mum's and say please do not make my daughter welcome, as she has been told to come home after school? Also, if she brings friends home, be strong enough to just say, NO, unfortunatly it is not convenient to welcome you here tonight, and this may be the case in the future if she brings you home without warning again!
OK, R will sulk and be a stroppy madam, but that will not be much of a change from her normal behaviour of late, so you may as well stick to your guns and not have the hassle of either waiting for her to turn up or having the extra mouths to feed! Or you could alway go along the ultimate embarrassement route of ringing the school and asking her to be kept there until she is collected in person by yourself!
Shabs - Good Luck wishes are wafting their way to Tom as I type, and you must baske in the proud mum moment tonight, you deserve it!
Chops - I hate it when we have that "oh my God, we overslept" feeling, the whole day often seems a bit out of kilter after a bad morning, doesn't it?
Still got "nice J" this morning, he actually had a joke and hug with DH, and was nice to his brother as well, long may it continue. In the post this morning we had a postcard from his Form Tutor, saying how well he was doing at school etc. The school teachers usually only send these out if a pupil has done particularly well at a subject, or if they have been nominated for a Head Teachers award. M had one 2 weeks ago, so J really chuffed to get one himself today!

It def is out of kilter, I jsut dopped my phone down the loo! Sad It's sitting next to me now in a bag of rice, drying out and I going to have to wait 24 hours to see if it is still working or not.

Sokmonsta · 08/11/2012 21:04

spot cream gratefully received and thankfully applied. James has scabbed over. We thought hoped the twins were coming down with it but nothing. Could be another couple of weeks yet. Is it wrong to really want it over and done with? It must be a particularly nasty one as it's gone through everyone in preschool and has started in reception now (fingers crossed for Em). Certainly the worst the school has seen in a few years.

Shabba, hope you are feeling better now.

Trips, no advice as mine are still at peppa pig age and younger. Just thinking of you and hoping things settle down soon.

Looking forward to christmas in the sokmonsta house now. Christmas shopping nearly finished, parents invited and actually accepted. Husband not working christmas or boxing day. Thrilled Grin

We also have progress on the twin front. Jennifer rolled. Not once or twice now but several times. So excited for her, especially as she rolls from back to front and back again huge relief at worrying for nothing

Joshua has decided to up his game though with the caterpillar commando crawl. Very slow, amusing but nonetheless effective. It really won't be long before he will be crawling all over the place.

Sokmonsta · 08/11/2012 21:06

Noooo chops your poor phone! (James once put the sky remote in the fish tank and it worked fine once dried out in the airing cupboard)

shabbatheGreek · 08/11/2012 21:57

Tom got 3 GCSE certificates at Presentation night tonight Shock Its mainly for the year that left at Easter but there was about 20 kids from his year 11 who got certificates. He got French, Science and Statistics certificates - he wasn't expecting 3.

He must have told them he wants to be called Tom at school. His certificates say Thomas but when they called his name I just heard 'TOM' - couldn't help but grin. He is buzzing but exhausted. 2 x 3 hour exams in one day is not great....Maths teacher has promised them that in tomorrows Maths lesson they are having hot chocolate, home made cake and no Maths!!!! Grin

Sokmonsta · 08/11/2012 22:16

Oh congrats to Tom (and your good self Shabba).

I loathed maths. Dread any of the dc's being good at it as I'll be stuffed. But I'm liking the sound of his special maths treat lesson tomorrow. Envy

shabbatheGreek · 08/11/2012 22:20

He has a great Maths teacher....I said I bet Mrs Lynch was proud of you all today doing so much work - he looked at me and said 'she was....I can always tell - she gets all angry and shouty but then grins at you on your way out of the exam room????' LOL

bubby64 · 08/11/2012 22:41

Oh, shabswell done to your Tom. I'm glad he is being treated tomorrow. Mike likes (and is good at) Maths, he is in the top stream at school, J could be there, but wont put the work inHmm. DH is also a maths guru, I just do enough to get me through, work out drug doses etc.
Soks What did we tell you! They will both get there in the end, they just need a little more timeGrin I remember when J started to toddle, and M was still only rolling, they would work together to get over babygates, M would roll in front of it and J climb onto him to get enough height to climb over, and they continued to work together to get things done ever since (well, until recently anyway, now they cant agree on anything!)
Chops hope phone works soon.

Oh well done TOMSTER, you have obviously worked hard for this, you have a very proud Mam:)
God knows what mine will get with all the upheaval of the school closing, very worrying.
Got indigestion...............can`t really blame it on half a Picnic bar..........can I ?

triplets · 08/11/2012 22:59

Socky, how old are you dts now? My trio were born at 32 weeks, James was only 2.15oz the other two were over 4lb. He was the last to do everything, 4 months behind Thomas is most things, but he got there. But guess what? Soon as they hit their teens, its James who is out in front, first to shave, first voice broken, etc. He is very mature, a young man, where as Thomas still seems a boy............strange isnt it?

Morning girls x

sokmonsta, glad the twins are making progress now. Mine used to do the climbing on top of each other thing too. dt2 would stand on dt1 to get over gates, so we ended up with two gates on top of each other for their bedroom door! Put the top one upside down, and it was possible to open both and get in and out!

Though, it is scary how quickly they go once they start. DT2 used to climb on dt1 to get out of his cot, then he learned to get on top of the chest of drawers, then the window sill, then one nap time - how to OPEN the window and jump out! A neighbour knocked on the door, to tell me my toddler was outside, whimpering at the door - I thought he was still in his cot! I rushed up A&E convinced he had broken both his legs, but he was sooo lucky and got off with cuts and bruises!

Well done to Tomster, enjoy your hot chocolate and cake - very well deserved!

The phone is ALIVE!! Will not be taking that in the bathroom again! I've only had it a couple of months, so very relieved.

shabbatheGreek · 09/11/2012 09:11

ha ha ha ha ha ha Tom got up, got dressed, had his breakfast and went out of the door without a single word.....On his way out he turned round and said (in teenager odd voice grunts) laters Mam....im sooooo tired....love you!

Have been thinking about my twins development. They were 2 weeks early (undiagnosed as twins until 10 days before I had them) and Danny weighed 5lbs 13 and Gareth 4lbs 1. Dannys development was fast and he was soon sitting up, rolling around etc etc. Dont know if it was Gareths heart problems that prevented him doing the same OR his birth weight????? Gareth finally managed to roll over just before he died at 7 months. Its so interesting for me to read all about your multiples....it used to make me jealous and sad but now I find it fascinating.

bagpuss · 09/11/2012 11:04

((((Shabs)))), well done Tom too Smile

This morning I have been reliving the tale of dt2s heart condition on another thread. It has just occurred to me that it is 9th November which is my 16th wedding anniversary. On my 4th wedding anniversary I spent the evening in our local a&e with ds1 who was 3 weeks old at the time. We ended up at AlderHey by midnight while he had emergency surgery to stabilise his heart. I cannot believe that is 12 years ago, also how much ds1 has come on and exceeded our expectations of him - amazing really but I feel quite Sad remembering that time now.

Also, dh has forgotten our anniversary Angry. Who said romance was dead?

My dts development has been a bit higgledy piggledy really, when one does something it quite often takes the other a while to get the hang of the same thing, but occasionally they can be evenly matched. There seems no reason for it though! Chops, OMG, mine have never climbed out of windows! How ever did you cope?

shabbatheGreek · 09/11/2012 11:14

Shock bagpuss - I either didn't know about your DS heart problems or I had forgotten. I know I am a nosey cow and tell me to sod off if you want, but what was wrong?

Gareth had two holes in his heart - one large and one a little smaller. He had pulmonary hypertension. He was a poorly little lad who almost always had a big grin on his face. Specialist told me that all babies are born with an extra valve which closes when they are born (my medical terminology is very poor, please bear with me) in Gareths case he thought that valve had remained open and thats what enabled him to get to almost 8 months of age. The whole multiples thing is something I find fascinating.

Midwife who delivered my twins inspected the placentas...Ewwww what a horrible job - she found on the side of one of them what looked like a tiny piece of coal.....in her opinion she said that suggested there had been a triplet that had not formed Shock

No, it's ok Shabs, I wouldn't expect you to remember, i think I told the story ages ago but a quick recap:

Ds1 was born with transposition of the Great Arteries and needed an arterial switch op at 4 weeks old. As I said, he got to 3 weeks old before any healthcare professional had an inclination of anything being wrong. we had the mad dash to AH and then the surgery, which was new 12 years ago. Can't really say what the prognosis will be long term, but he looks and acts like a totally normal child, apart from the large scar on his chest. What I said further up thread about him being put on the high achievers register at school has us literally astounded because 12 years ago his sats were so low pre surgery that the doctors we saw said they couldn't rule out brain damage Shock.

Dt2 was diagnosed with aortic stenosis after he was born, thought to be mild, but turned out to need some minor surgery to help him. Has been ok since but still needs 6 monthly appointments to check it doesn't get worse again. If it does then he will have another baloon catheter although the consultant did say that when he is fully grown a valve replacement might be a better bet.

I remember you saying about Gareth before. He sounds similar to ds1 wrt the extra valve being open. Ds1 owes his life to that really, he would have only lived days if it had closed when it was supposed to.

Still, we're all good for now, which I am very thankful for!
