Mine were 6lb and 6lb7, wonder if they are the biggest?!

I didn't know that about valves closing at birth. Ds1's didn't close for a few days, we had to go back to get it checked, never really thought too much about it at the time, still in a sort of after birth haze.

Grin at the loo! Shay did try to shove rav in the washing machine once! Shay was a grumpy baby, never happy until he could move around, then he was like the tazmanian devil. He drank perfume, ate heart tablets (relative's house), jumped out of the window, poured gloss paint all over the patio, tried to climb up the chimney. I really couldn't take my eyes off him for a second. Still bloody can't - it was only last year he smashed the car into a brick wall!

They were such a shock after, quite, placid ds1!

shabbatheGreek · 09/11/2012 12:56

Bagpuss Shock I can imagine how worried you must have been....WOW he sounds like he is doing very, very well now. Kids are so frightening Grin

I had never heard about the extra valve either, before Gareth. The coroner said that he was putting on the death certificate (as cause of death) Congenital heart defects but told me to ask the specialist about the extra valve.

I find the whole thing fascinating - am also proud of my little lad - because of what was learnt from his heart problems (and the problems of many other babies) many people are alive and kicking nowadays. We met a lovely lad years ago on holiday (still in touch) and he had the same condition as Gareth....he had been operated on and sorted out by the time he was 2 years old. At least through the sadness and the longing to see Gareth again....lots of massive strides have been made to treat heart problems.

Hi. as I said before , my 2 were 29.5wks, M 4.4, J 3.3 had to come quickly because of twin to twin transfusion syndrome, causing M to have pulmonery hypertension with some heart failure(which is thought to be why he has now got Chronic benign Hypotonia, as this is usually caused by mum having high B/P, not child) J was anaemic and underdeveloped lungs. M had a CCam (growth in lung) found on scans as well, so he had a partial pneunectony at 2yrs 6m. Amazing how well they both are now, compared with how they were as babies.Smile
Oh and we had a window incident too, a neighbour knocked on our door to say J was sitting on the windowsill dangling his legs out- I have never run up the stairs so fast, or entered the bedroom so quietly so I did not scare him!!

Morning girls xx

Bubby I hate those words pulmonary hypertension. The hospital only discovered my twins because I had been put on total bedrest because of my BP. Think they ran out of ideas and they sent me for an xray.....and thats when they found out there were 2!! I ended up in a single room, with blackout blinds - valium injections every four hours along with blood pressure checks. Ended up with pre-eclampsia. Dont think I have ever felt so poorly in my life....the only thing that brought the blood pressure down was an epidural (which I had insisted I DID NOT WANT). About 10 years ago I was put on tablets for BP as it was still high. Now it is controlled with beta blockers and dieuretics (wrong spelling). With Matt my blood pressure was higher than with the twins Shock

When I had Tom I had very little morning sickness and sailed through the pregnancy with NO high blood pressure......although I went 20 days over with him Hmm I was fighting fit. Seems I must have 'got the hang of it' after having 3 children already!!!

Sokmonsta · 10/11/2012 13:20

Twins are now 7 months old (6 ish corrected). They arrived at 36+5 weighing 4 lb 4 and 5lb 5. Jennifer was in a hurry (poor people waiting for a scan must have thought wtf as my panting arse was whooshed through a packed waiting room) and Joshua ended up being an emcs under general. We spent a total of 13 days in hospital as they'd recently set up transitional care, where nicu babies who still need support but not the intensive care of nicu stayed with mum. They did 4 and 5 days in nicu for feeding/blood sugar issues and were tube fed for about a week and 11 days. So we escaped quite lightly.

It's only been the last few days that I can say I honestly enjoy the twins. And I think it's because all of a sudden they've done that jump and are interacting a little more. Joshua is a very giggly baby when he gets going.

They're still quite poorly with coughs at the moment. Last night was horrendous and Jennifer ended up in bed with us a couple of times as the poor mite was coughing so much she couldn't catch her breath.

Unfortunately I know I have a tendency to be neurotic about illness due to James being hospitalised at 7 weeks with viral meningitis and a hellish first year of related hospital admissions which followed. Luckily our gp surgery are very understanding and always say they'd sooner see the babies and put my mind at ease than not, and have them end up really ill.

triplets · 10/11/2012 23:32

and so they should Socky, it scares the living daylights out of you xx

Did anybody watch the Memorial Service tonight from the Royal Albert Hall? Done brilliantly as usual, but Shabs..............Rodders was there and he sang the slowest Auld Lang Syne............lump in my throat which then ended up me in tears when they then sang Abide With Me, last sung at Mums funeral in July :-( Sat there sobbing hot tears, did anyone even glance at me or put an arm around me........................sometimes I wish I wasn`t so sensitive. Night night all xx

bubby64 · 10/11/2012 23:35

You are quite normal in only just starting to enjoy your babies, I was the same, mine had been so poorly and i spent so much time worrying for their first few months, I didn't have time to enjoy them, I thought that i was somehow a poor mother as i only really started to like looking after my boys after that corner had been turned, and I could see they were developing into healthy, happy and "normal" babies. don't get me wrong, i loved them with all my heart, but i found it hard to be relaxed enough to really appreciate them. I can see this now, but at the time I thought their was something wrong with me.

((((( Trips )))), I sat and cried too, so you aren't alone. Can't believe on of your lot didn't give you a hug tho, I shall have to send my two over to give you a "double bubby mummy" cuddle,( that's what the boys call it when they both hug me at the same time)

Morning girls xx

No I didn't see it Trips - I will try and watch it on 'catch up' on tv today. I think it would have made me cry as well. xxx

bubby64 · 11/11/2012 18:12

Limping so much I have now thrown my back out, in so much pain I don't know what to do with myself! R took boys out for lunch as I can't stand long to cook, but I also couldn't sit in the car to go with them Sad
Got to have it well enough to work tomorrow as I can't afford any more time off with my operation coming up in the new year.

OP posts:
triplets · 11/11/2012 22:08

Oh poor you Bubs, do you have any ibuprofen gel, I used to use it on my back. Its miserable, esp when you try to sleep. Really hope it eases off over night for you xx
Busy day today, boys on parade for the Memorial Service, makes you feel very proud of them, they can be good..............sometimes!
Had the pleasure of dd all w/end, not a friend in sight and she spoke to me:)
Cooked a whole leg of lamb for supper, should have enjoyed it but I didnt. It was out of Mums freezer, her fav meat in all the world and I just wanted her to be here eating it with me. She last came for Sun lunch at Easter :( Back in the late 80s we used to go to Puerto Pollensa and take Mum and Dad. Our fav restaurant was Tangos, Mum would always have the half shoulder of lamb and Dad the suckling pig............they were such happy days. Night night all xx

triplets · 11/11/2012 22:24

Just added pic of James on my profile!

shabbatheGreek · 12/11/2012 08:00

Morning girls xx

Oh my word Trips - James is all grown up - how the hell did that happen? Grin

Our house is like Emergency Ward 10 (or Casualty for you young 'uns). Tom has a very high temp and a hacking cough. Been dosing him up with paracetamol etc etc. Today he also has to go to the health centre and have his complete toenail removed.... he has had both sides of each toenail removed - he has awful problems with ingrowing toenails. Just went upstairs to get him up and thought 'sod it' - he would only be in till lunchtime anyway.

Chopstheduck · 12/11/2012 08:14

Ward 11 reporting! dd is completely better, ds1 is still hacking a lot, but going to send him in and keep my fingers crossed he doesn't get sent home, and dt2 is coughing non stop and so will be home. Still dt1 to get it. They really are on top form - catching this one at a time!

:( Bubby, you could try this stuff. We usually buy it from Indian grocers, and it is lovely, really warming. Kinda like deep heat but a LOT more potent.

Trips, James looks fab, and I must check out the albert hall service on catchup! Mine missed their parade due to their constant coughing :(

Chopstheduck · 12/11/2012 08:21

it's going to be one of those days. Just had Jack wailing cos he has lost his homework. Apparently 15 minutes before we leave for school, is a perfectly reasonable time to announce this and demand help. And dt1 has left his coat at the park yesterday.

Sokmonsta · 12/11/2012 08:42

Bubs poor you. Hope you can move more easily thing morning. Thank you for your kind words.

I'll probably regret saying I was enjoying the babies as I see your coughs and informing toenail and raise you 3 cases of chicken pox, of whom i also have one twin vomitting and coughing a lung up, one shitting through the eye of a needle and a 4yo complaining her legs ache. Grin

Still, Emily is happy as she can keep puddles the class cat a little longer. I'm going to see if I can have some fun with it and get some red dotty stickers Wink

shabbatheGreek · 12/11/2012 08:55

Decided to ring the Year 11 team at school.....had already rang the stupid answer machine in the attendance office.

Told the delicious Mr Hunt (Oh my word I am so glad Tom took History) exactly what is wrong and how Tom is worried that his attendance percentage will go down (they go mad about attendance). Awww he said 'Last week was too much for the year 11's and I have just realised he is the youngest boy in his year. The kids like Tom who care about their education also put too much pressure on themselves. He is a great lad - he really cares about what he does at school. He is a total credit to you and tell him, from me, to get better soon and come in when he is fully recovered.'

Having said all that when he goes back they will put him on report. He will have a card that he has to take from lesson to lesson to be signed. Unlike the 'bad 'uns' who dont go in and then wait outside school for their mates, at hometime!! Standing there smoking and causing trouble.....and, NO, they are not smoking ordinary cigs!!!

shabbatheGreek · 12/11/2012 08:57

Sok your last message was so funny it made me almost spit my brew over the laptop!!

Especially 'shitting through the eye of a needle' Are you from up t'North or Darn Sarf?

Chopstheduck · 12/11/2012 09:08

Why are they putting him on report, shabs?

I don't envy you the chicken pox, soks! Mine were all a bit older when they got it. dt2 actually got in on holiday, we were in Holland at the time. Spent the week walking around with him in a hoody, trying to hide the spots a bit!! dt1 got it afterwards. They were both pretty mild, luckily, and I even took dt1 to legoland, because he was so bored staying home, once the spots had scabbed over and he wasn't infectious! I did have one woman grab her child and run off as if he had leprosy though. He was only off because he was still spiking a temperature without regular calpol and the school won't administer calpol!

shabbatheGreek · 12/11/2012 10:17

At Toms high school, when there attendance drops below 94% they have to do an attendance report card for about a week. Mind you this is the first time, when he has been off, that I have spoken to one of the Year 11 team. So, maybe he wont have to do it. They got a new headmaster last year - a smashing bloke, very strict. The attendance report cards were his idea!!!

Chopstheduck · 12/11/2012 11:17

They really need some sort of judgement though, as to whether the reason for absence is genuine or not before making them do report cards

Fingers crossed he doesn't have to do it.

shabbatheGreek · 12/11/2012 12:37

For many years it has been the very worst High school in the area. Over 2,300 pupils and a weak headmaster who wanted to be everybodys friend.

New head came in last year. Very, very strict man but I like him a lot. He expelled 6 lads in Toms year within the first term. He seems to be getting everything sorted.

The report card was one of his first ideas. Tom said to me 'Stop worrying about it Mum Everybody has to do it

Chigertick · 12/11/2012 12:44

Just checking into say I hope all the poorly DC are better soon.
We're also in the depths of d&v bug number 3 in a month, high temps, and lots of tears. I don't think we've had one week this year where one of the DTs or me hasn't been ill!!
On a positive note we've ordered the DTs birthday presents using our 25% off at ELC so all set for March!!
We also managed a child free afternoon on Saturday which we used to tidy the houseSmile.
We also took down the room divider between our dining room and lounge as they now just climb over it (egging each other on!) and they can't quite believe it!

bubby64 · 12/11/2012 12:59

Thanks for sympathy ladies- in work today, but still in a lot of pain, my manager came and saw me this morning and said not to worry about taking time off, but I DO worry, as it is really not fair on my job share colleague.
Shabs- Hope Tom is ok after his minor op, it can be very painful for a while, so be warned! Hope they dont put him on report, surely they dont if it is due to a medical procedure-its not as if he is just "bunking off" after all.
Soks, Chiger and Chops- hope DC are all well soon, it is miserable when you cant really help them get any better, but just wait it out, isn't it.
Trips more (((hugs)) for you, blow MN ettiquette, you need some. Glad DD was better over the weekend, and please dont beat yourself up over things like the roast. You have many happy memories of your mum and dad, I'm sure she would have wanted you to enjoy it as much as she would have, as, from the sounds of things, your mum loved life and loved you, and wouldnt want you to get so sad, but to remember the happy times instead.

shabbatheGreek · 12/11/2012 17:23

Entire toenail gone!! Bubby he has had one side of each toenail done before - one procedure when he was only about 9....he said that it wasn't too bad. The bloke who did it said the anesthetic would wear off about 5pm....it just did. He is coughing every few seconds and feeling sorry for himself cause his toe is 'wrecking' as he just told me!!
