Oh dream, I'm sorry you're not getting any sleep. Sucks. You've got to do whatever works for you, whether that's replacing a bf with a bottle, or getting someone to take the kids out of the house so you can nap during the day. But hang in there, you're doing brilliantly. I think you're great!

pigcon, I am a product of my mother drinking stout on a fairly regular basis so perhaps I'm biased? Wink It's easy to get the physio in here as everyone in Vancouver is obsessed with physical fitness (great in some ways, not so much in others) and we all get it covered through work. There's an amazing one I've been seeing who specialises in womens health - they have a sign in their reception that says "I was laughing so much the tears were running down my legs." Grin dream, I started back with the dance lot 4 weeks post-p. It helps that 4 of the other mums have twins so they are brilliant at helping me.

Update on my delinquent toddler DD - she's biting/hitting less, but has now started using the eff word!!!! Blush and her favourite phrase seems to be 'effing babies' which I can only assume she heard late at night emanating from DH in our room - these children hear EVERYTHING!!

DreamingOfPeace · 29/05/2012 21:56

Love it rednellie!! Grin My delinquent toddler has discovered tantrums properly. Cue huge, loud one at a cafe over not being allowed to run round holding a glass dish with the sugar sachets in... And over most things now.

Anyone else fancy putting a pic on?!

pigcon1 · 29/05/2012 22:20

dreaming just looked at the pics, lovely. I don't know how to post but will look into it tomorrow. The ff can be a faf but you're not committing yourself to doing one thing or another by giving a few ff (although can appreciate why you may not want to). Their growth is fantastic, you must be delighted.

red canadian healthcare sounds fab, as someone who has experienced the sneeze/laugh "tears" you're motivating me to get a bit more with it on the excersise front.

rednellie · 29/05/2012 22:28

dream - your lot are cuties.

I've been brave and uploaded my favourite photo so far - tandem feeding, having to hold DD's hand and trying to feed myself...

minesapintofwine · 30/05/2012 00:24

can I join or am i too late? nearly-17-week old dts non-id sleep thru night but have no day routine born by c-section after induced labour at 37 weeks. They are sooo lovely and I get emotional all the time thinking of the life changing event I have been thru so far in 2012. Also I get emotional when I note that teething is arriving and they are turning into right screeeaammmears. Love twinmummies too we rock dont we? do I qualify (I can bring Wineif needed. Probably is needed. If I havent drunk it all.)?

rednellie · 30/05/2012 03:30

Btw claire, apologies if I sounded flippant about the earth quake. It looks pretty blooming horrible, hope everyone you know is safe. We live on a fault line here so it's always at the back my mind...

Never too late minesapint, we're all at different stages here anyway...just all hanging on. Welcome!

BB3 · 30/05/2012 07:11

Minesapint - hello? What flavour dts did you have? Twinmummies are great in my opinion!

Dream - I don't really know about bottles, if it were me I'd start introducing formula but then I did from 12 weeks anyway as the heaviness helped them sleep longer at bed time!

My not-so-little ones are 8 months soon (does that mean I'll be kicked off the thread in 4 months?!?! Wink) I'll put lots of pics up when I'm home. Going off to look at pics hope Internet holds out!!!! Back soon

BB3 · 30/05/2012 07:11

Hello! Not hello?

pigcon1 · 30/05/2012 07:41

red what great photos, that pic of everyone having lunch has given me goosebumps, how capable and amazing?!
It's brilliant to see photos of babies and the bumps, I'd semi forgotten how comedically huge the bump gets.

Hullo mines a pint

bigboobsatlast · 30/05/2012 08:00

loving the photos Red and Dream! Just trying to put some on myself of boys, DD and bump. You look like super woman Red, and Dream - I couldn't leave my DD that close to the babies on the floor - she would smother them with love, and not in a good way. I feel very bad that my boys have had absolute minimal 'tummy time' as I just can't find a safe time to do it that is not feed time etc.

How are you feeling this morning Claire? Experiencing something like a quake/tremor must make you feel rather jittery for a while.

Red - your DD is keeping you on your toes! My DD also picks up everything she isnt meant to say-'oh god' is a favourite one.

HV coming today. I sleep in the boys room with them so dont need a 'usual' monitor, but just thought about the sensor ones that detect movement. But I am thinking that I wont as my nerves have settled a little and DT1 seems soooooo much better - in fact he looks like a different baby, makes me realise how poorly he looked before :-(

After having about 3 weeks of fairly good nights (sleep / feed / sleep - and usually every three hours or even longer) - the last week has gone loopy-loo! No sleep at all this side of midnight and then frequent feeding/waking/needing settling for the rest of the night. I am getting some sleep as DH and I take it in turns, but we are both knackered. It does get easier, doesn't it? I can't remember DD being like this, may be she wasnt. They are also much more awake in the day and dont want to just lie in their cot (travel cot downstairs) - which I can understand of course but they seem to need constant comfort when they are awake now. So not so much rest for me in the day! To be honest, this is what I thought it would be like and feel I have had it rather easy the first few weeks.

Don't leave us BB3! I am sure we could do with the benefit of your experience beyond a year old... if only to tell us it does get easier - it does doesn't it?! :-)

Hello Minesapint - great name... if only!

bigboobsatlast · 30/05/2012 09:07

Just added photies Grin

minesapintofwine · 30/05/2012 13:40

Hello! They are boy flavoured though that sounds a bit wrong....

bigboobs how old are your twins? yes it does get much easier I remember those first few weeks of no very little sleep I was ready to kill someone. They got better at 8 weeks, then 12 and are great now at 17 weeks sleep mainly 10 1/2 hours at night. Hooray! Do you have a bedtime routine? it really helped us

DreamingOfPeace · 30/05/2012 14:01

I LOVE your photo rednellie, you've inspired me to put one of tandem feeding my boys in hospital at 2 days old on Smile

Your bump was so neat bigboobs! Big of course, and it looks even bigger because the rest of you is tiny! You children are gorgeous Grin

I am still looking pregnant though I'm only half a stone or less above my pre-pregnant weight- my 5 finger gap in my stomach muscles is obviously causing that- it has improved, I saw a womens health physio, but it was so quick, she barely touched me and said it was now 1 finger- I can get way more than one finger in, i'd say 2 or 3. Hmm

Hi wine!! I take it you were Nomorewineforme previously!? So glad to hear sleep may be impending for me- my boys are 8 weeks today!

crap, howling, gotta go...

bigboobsatlast · 30/05/2012 15:25

I take my hats off to you breastfeeding ladies - just had a look at your new photo Dream - brilliant!

wine, my boys are 1 month old. Have to be honest, not got a bed time routine yet... I really dont know how I am going to fit it around DD's routine - she is 27 months. I really want to get to the stage where they all bath together, then jim-jams, then quiet time then bed - just like DD has - but how I am going to do that with all 3 I don't know! When did you start a routine? have you any other children? Tips please!

Boys weighed today - both 7lb 6. So DT1 has put on a 1lb in a week and has caught his brother up! so pleased.

DH going to pick up a second hand single bed this evening - to go in the boys room so I dont have to keep sleeping on an air bed! Great I will have a bed, just hope DC will behave themselves while I am on my own on what is usually a rather chaotic time - the wheels come off early evening!

I join you Dream in hoping improvements are seen soon!!

rednellie · 30/05/2012 19:28

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Loving all the baby photos. bigboobs - what a bump! And dream, great tandem feeding photo. There's probably a tumblr out there somewhere with pictures like that on it! (and if there isn't we should make one)

Honestly bigboobs, I bf because I'm too lazy to do anything else. This is probably because I found it quite easy with DD and avoided a lot of issues people have (I was lucky), but now I can't picture doing anything else. Even pumping seems a chore compared to just sticking them on a boob.

Having said that, because I started expressing when I got the plugged duct, I've carried on and now have a freezer full. I'm thinking about offering it to the milk bank - has anyone done this? I've honestly got so much of the stuff, and our freezer is tiny and I need to prioritize storing my economy sized tubs of icecream.

BB3 - you are not allowed to desert us. I'm planning on still nattering to you lot when all our twins are 18. And please update on holiday. I want to live vicariously.

claireinmodena · 30/05/2012 21:21

Hello,

Apologies if I cant make personal comments but on my phone.
We spent the night at a friend's as dh was away and really didnt feel too happy about sprnding the night alone with the four kids. Said friend lives in the sticks so no mobile or internet connection til today

We are well and the house has no visible damage but it is all too close for comfort and very sad to know that so many lives were lost.

Babies are doing well, we have turned a corner I think, things are so much better. (it does happen, hang on in there - thinking of you dream especially). 17 weeks tomorrow and we are now getting lots of cooing and laughs, they light up with smiles every time they see me and I forget that I still havent slept for longer than 5ish hours yet!

Thank you all fir thinking about us, will post more tomorrow, lived the photos and welcome to minesapint!

DreamingOfPeace · 30/05/2012 21:23

^yeah, what rednellie says
BB3. Although of course, I'll have no problem with my duo after 12 months, no?!

In other news today, DT1 slept better last night, he went 5 hours between feeds!!!!!! (Sorry, I really was that excited I needed all those exclamation marks) it made bog all difference to my sleep as DT2 was up for most of it and ended up sleeping on me again but its a start.

Also, my DD has hit the terrible two's early at 20 months, and jumped in feet first... Refusing to get in her highchair, wash her hands properly, tantrums over everything including a big public one in a cafe the other day. The joys...

xkatyx · 31/05/2012 14:21

Hello everyone, I haven't been on this thread in , I'm lost with what's going on!!

How is everyone and bumps/babies.
My girls are now 5 months old and are a complete dream now :)

minesapintofwine · 31/05/2012 14:48

bigboobs I started the bedtime routine at 9 weeks as I felt they were ready but it took a few days for them to settle completely. I dont have any older dc so probaby was much easier for me to implement. Is there anyone at home that can do the twins routine whilst you see to dd or vice versa until they are a bit older? If it helps dh baths them in living room cos he keeps one eye on the telly as our bathroom is cold but I havent the muscles or inclination to carry the bath in. Sometimes I bath one in the bathroom whilst dh baths the other in living room watching telly. Sometimes we bath them together could all this work with your dd too?

DreamingOfPeace · 31/05/2012 16:02

Oh bigboobs, DD's routine is tea, one programme on tv, bath, story, bed. To add the boys in I start the bath straight after DD's tea, then sit with her, usually feeding boys for a bit, then dh stays with DD, I bath the boys, one at a time so far, and i feed and fruitlessly try and settle the boys while dh does DDs bath, teeth, story bed. She usually overlaps with one of the boys in the bath and can be annoying, possesive and pushing him away so I try and get them done first the last few days. It's not working yet for us but they're only 8 weeks and i hope the penny will drop in the next few weeks.

DreamingOfPeace · 31/05/2012 16:04

For the record, Seb settled straight away after the after bath bf last night and slept 4 hours- a first and a record!!! Sadly I still had unhappy colicky Ben for 3.5 of those 4 hours... It's a start though!

pigcon1 · 31/05/2012 16:41

Not a follow on from anything but I'm just having a blissful 5 mins sitting on the loo whilst the bath runs and my MIL does sterling grannying downstairs, hurrah for granny days!

ceeveebee · 31/05/2012 17:31

Wow pigcon, it says something about twin mums that a 5 min toilet break is described as blissful! We have MIL and FIL arriving for a week on Saturday, they want to go and see jubilee pageant on Sunday (we are 20 mins from London by train ) but I really don't fancy it, it's going to be so busy. But then they will be babysitting loads spending lots of quality time with their GCs next week so feel I should do what they want to. So next week I have hair appointment, nails, and am going to a cookery course for babies! Will be the most child-free time I've had in 7 months!

DTS now has 2 teeth and is rolling everywhere including on top of his sister a couple of times, so now I have to put him in playpen when out of the room. Apparently I was walking at 8 months, fingers crossed they will take after their dad who was over 12 months before crawling!

They're now on 3 meals a day, it is a constant round of feeding but at least they are still sleeping well at night so can't complain

claire I hope you get to go home soon and that all your family and friends are safe

Loving all the photos. I can't seem to post from my iPhone so need to get the laptop out sometime. Impressive feeding skills! I tandem bf in public for first time yesterday as DTs were thirsty about 1 hr before normal feed time, probably due to heat, so I had no option, was at twin playgroup so no problem with whipping everything out thankfully!

Hello to everyone else, looking forward to a 4 day weekend with lots of helpers!

rednellie · 31/05/2012 19:38

Some days I don't think I go to the loo...

Our bedtime routine, if there's only one of us doing it, is to bring all children upstairs, stick DD in bath with a battalion of toys and books and stuff to keep her occupied. Meanwhile baby bath gets filled and plonked on bathroom floor and DTs get washed and dressed (DD has VERY long baths on those days and/or we only top and tail the DTs). Then I settle down to bf boys whilst combing DD's hair and teeth and then read her a story (did I mention how much I love my feeding cushion?). By that point the boys have usually gone off and I slide them off onto the bed and leave them there (naughty) until I've deposited DD in her bed and sung her a song. Come back and put the boys in their cot.

I've not done in on my own much, but it sort of works. When DH is there he does DD and I do DTs.

Hi katy, so pleased your girls are doing good. I remember how it was hard for you at the start, I'm so reassured that it's gotten so much better. There's hope for us all!

claire, man, I'm so sorry. Hope you're all getting back to some sort of normality. xx

dream fantastic progress - there is light at the end of tunnel!

xkatyx · 31/05/2012 19:53
