HI everyone ... i had the most boring but nice NYE - home alone with DH, kids fast asleep and it was really nice.

blue kangaroo is based in Fulham Boardway, website is www.thebluekangaroo.co.uk. it all sounds great, although i do have to confess i'm not sure if i'll be able to meet up in the next few months. given that baby is on the way and we still havent brought anything i'm beginning to panic. and with DD1 starting school, i'm scared i'll feel overwhelmed. i know it sounds like i'm making excuses but wanted to be honest and let you know if i dont manage to make it to the next meet up. january is out for me also .

mellow - the brand of foundation i used for my wedding is SpaceNK. they have a shop at the back of bond street. i booked a consultation - think it was free of charge and they were fantastic.

Happy New year everybody!

Autumnlover, do you know if you are having a boy or girl yet? You sound very excited and I am so envious . Sadly I can't have anymore cos I've already got three. What things do you still need. If you don't mind them been used, I may be able to dig out something for you.

We had a nice NYE cos it was dd1's 13th birthday. DH made her a cake which we all poked fun at. DS2 (3y8ths) would not take part cos we would not let him blow out the candles and he just sulked after that.

autumnlover · 03/01/2007 21:08

hi momontherun, its going to be a boy and i am slowing getting quite excited. thank you for your offer of stuff but we only need a cot, double buggy and clothes (first 2 are girls).

i've been meaning to ask you about your 3 kids and how you cope. i'm going to have 3 under 5yrs!!!! lovely...

also realised that i've only got a few more weeks before i'm not going to be able to drive - bump seems to have just shot out from nowhere - must be all the big portions i've been having.

how is everyone???

MomOnTheRun · 04/01/2007 04:49

Autumnlover, I get bags of help from dd1 cos she's 13. Since returning to work 12mths ago, DH took over as SAHD and is more strict with them. They are very independent now. Sometimes I think too much for their age, but I guess that's the only way that DH will be able to cope. I can't complain or he'll throw a wobbly being stressed out looking after dc.

It's lovely when they have a small age gap. DD1 feels left out cos there's 9yrs difference. A lot of squabbling goes on between ds2 and dd3 but it's lovely to watch them all lovey dovey.

You'd be alright. Be prepared that boys are more hyperactive than girls generally. When is the due date? Will he arrive in time for chinese new year to receive the red pocket money? Feel so excited for you.

autumnlover · 04/01/2007 19:04

hiya, due date isnt until early april so no such luck re: chinese new year.

where are you momontherun?? all yr posts are early in the morning - or do you really wake up at 4am?!?!?

breadgirl · 04/01/2007 19:20

wyls · 04/01/2007 21:27

autumnlover · 04/01/2007 21:39

trying2bgood · 04/01/2007 21:40

autumn - good luck with it, I jump from one extreme to the other. Some days I would love to have a third and then other days I would die first!!!! When I see little babies I do get broody but I am pretty sure that I could not cope with 3, just don't think I have the patience for it!

Will hopefully be able to make fulham broadway. Does anyone know whether there is a lift in that station?

MomOnTheRun · 04/01/2007 22:02

Autumnlover, I'm in the UK but body clock has been set to the wrong time since having dd3 (rooster). Almost everynight I fall asleep on the sofa at about 10:00 and wake up ak 3-4am and can't get back to sleep. I had psd with dd3 and spent the last six weeks of my pregnancy on the recliner. So I tend to fall asleep when I'm on the sofa. That's why you see me at odd hours. The family have got used to it now and they will just throw a blanket over me before going to bed.

breadgirl · 04/01/2007 22:09

thanks Autumnlover, you all sound lovely
i have dh and 2 dds .. this is our complete family .. i don't have the energy to have a 3rd .. so all the best to yours and mumontherun

autumnlover · 04/01/2007 22:12

Welcome breadgirl! we're not the fastest posting thread but all regulars.

right i'm off to bed - long day tomorrow.

Happy New Year everyone!

I can't believe its 2007. I did meet up with wyls before Xmas and it was very nice to see her and her adorable little DS and i can't believe how close we live near to each other.

by the way does anyone know when is chinese new year? and will anyone be celebrating it? i,e food and giving out lai see. In the past i have let chinese new year slip by but now that i am a mum, i think it would be nice to celebrate this tradition. what type of food would you cook at home?

i've already got from HK a little chinese outfit for DS to wear on the day!

i'm a horse, ds is a dog and dp a big piglet

fez · 05/01/2007 21:07

happy new year all!

i have been away from mn the last 3-4 months and wow, our third thread! have to read through this thread and catch up. anyone know how rojak is getting on in singapore?

momontherun, i live near royston so not far away from you at all!

snowmum · 06/01/2007 00:00

Welcome back Fez and welcome Breadgirl.

Chinese New Year falls on February 18th, bit late this time and yep, its the year of the Pig (also my MIL ). I'm an Ox and so is DH, DD is a baby chick!

Champers, we celebrate CNY in that we go down to my PIL's to have a big family get together, eat copious amounts of food and hand out (and receive) lai see. We don't cook anything speical at home altho we do eat vegan just for the actual day itself. I do have some chinese cookbooks with special New Year cake recipes if you want (I've never made it myself).

Wyls, you nosey thing! Actually yes, we are trying for baby 2 now (since I have eaten and drunk my way thru the holiday season!) And you? Are you going for baby 2? Perhaps we will give birth within days of each other again!

My broadband woes continue, however BT reassure me that I will definitely have my broadband line activated by this time next week (that's what they said last week).

MomOnTheRun · 06/01/2007 03:14

Yes, we celebrate Chinese New Year every year. DH is very traditional. When MIL was still alive, we used to eat vegan on the day, but it was so hard for dh. Now we eat vegan for first meal only.

Have been busy in the sales getting clothes for the children so everything is new on the day. We bathe in lime leaves water on CNYE and do not sweep or throw out rubbish on CNY. I've got a chinese outfit for ds2 (Sheep) and dd3 (Rooster) from last year. DD1 (Rooster) is a bit old for that. She used to have a few outfits as she was an only child up to 9.

Fez, nice to meet you. I've never been to Royston before. Passed it a few times whilst on the A10.

trying2bgood · 06/01/2007 23:09

welcome bread!

And goodluck snowmum, have fun! and hope your broadband woes come to an end soon.

CNY - we often go to my grandma's house to celebrate and see all the family. My mum always brings over those leaves for us to bathe in, and also cooks that special veggie food for us. When I was younger, family in HK would post us videos on tv CNY specials!

OP posts:
autumnlover · 06/01/2007 23:19

snowmum - my sympathies regarding yr broadband and BT. we've had to call them in about 6 times in the last 12 months. they really are crap. i'm not going to start on them as i got so angry, just letting u know yr not the only one that has problems with them. make sure you complain.

CNY - dinner with family at parents tiny house - all 30 of us. loads of seafood, loud talking, kids running wild, white DH's talking and trying to make sense of it all, gossiping with sisters in the kitchen and generally having a great time. poor DH takes it all but loves the food. its great for the dds because they get to see their cousins. in terms of traditions, dont do the bathing in lime leaves but might start this year - any sort of citrus leaves?? but do wash before midnight, and make sure dds have new clothes. i love CNY

trying2bgood · 06/01/2007 23:34

autumn - ah always wanted sisters to gossip with! My mum is one of 4 so thats what she does at CNY. My dds are the first of their generation so will probably be spoilt rotten but they will also be aqually terrified of all the hustle and bustle!
