May I join in welcoming you to this long standing mumsnet MLM thread, now on 93 (each thread has a maximum of 1000 comments), @Fearless31.
The first thread, sometime in 2016 I believe, was a one-off question from a woman who had watched her friend's behaviour become bizarre after joining an MLM. The first thread begat a second, a third and eventually we put numbers on each thread to keep in order.
Forever Living became a regular feature because the behaviour of the bots became so outrageous, the lies and deceit stark and shocking. Sadly, these lies were believed by (mostly) women who were hoodwinked into "buying a box" in their thousands.
Castle is a particular favourite, she moved into a home which had been renovated on a very popular TV home renovation programme. She strongly implied that she had bought it with money made from FL. I still kick myself that I did not screenshot the facebook message she posted boasting of this (she took it down after pushback and question, later posting an amended message stating that "she was renting to see if it fitted their family" or words to that effect). Anyway, one of the mumsnet MLM watchers did a bit of digging and found the owners of the property. The property was indeed for sale, by THEM. We reckon Castle/FL did a deal to rent the property until it was sold by the owners. At the time, Castle was the "golden girl" of FL and attracted a lot of new sign-ups, she was so inspiring
.
The thread continues because there are many MLM companies springing up with the focus to exploit the vulnerable. It is cruel and evil imo that this business model is still popular today, though thankfully much less so that it was.
