In fact a vague acquaintance with honesty and a willingness to do what it takes regardless are key competencies for success in FLP. As long as he was overseeing recruitment on a grand scale (which was clearly happening if India was a stop on the Grand Tour), then no one is asking any questions at HQ.
If the bosses cared about who was part of FLP and cared about how they were operating they wouldn’t have just touched down on the tarmac of the airport in India when they found out about the arrest, they’d be much more aware. Or perhaps they had to act shocked and surprised and get themselves out of the country as quick as possible?
