Does everyone worry about money?

Based off the back of another thread. Does everyone worry about money/financials do you think? I know the worries may be different…but do you think everyone does? Do you or do you not? What do you worry about the most?

No one does then 🤣🙌

I certainly do. The more we’ve earned my worries have just changed as opposed to disappear. I am very lucky I have never needed to worry about paying bills or where our next meal is, but I am quite obsessive about making our salaries work hard and meeting all our hopes and aspirations. I appreciate it’s not the same kind of worrying, but it is quite consuming for me.

HappyAsASandboy · 18/10/2025 20:10

I do. We earn a lot of money between us, but have a large family and large outgoings.

I worry about money because I worry about meeting current commitments if either of us loses our jobs. I absolutely know people live on far less money per month, but it wouldn’t be easy to reduce outgoings by half quickly. And big outgoings being not met would quickly grow to huge debt.

I worry about retirement money because it all feels a long way off, uncertain because I don’t know how much money I’ll need by then, and because I don’t know what the rules will be by then.

I worry about “small money” like whether I can afford better food at the supermarket, whilst at the same time knowing that I am not making “bigger money” work hard/efficiently. So I am theoretically financially secure but fret about small money decisions.

I would really like someone to explain it all to me and tell me how I am actually positioned. I know there’s probably someone out there that I can pay for that advice, but organising it seems too scary Blush

I feel similar in terms of job loss for sure even though we have all the insurances necessary to try to counteract that and illness etc.

I don’t sweat the small stuff too much. Like bills etc, I’m very good at that stuff and we have ample left to save and increase spending on bills if necessary.

we have a large new mortgage so my priority is to try to pay off as much of that as possible whilst still having cash reserves, the balance is hard.

I worry but I know worrying is unproductive so I try not to. We don't have the usual money worries that most people have so it's not something I can discuss on an anonymous forum or even in real life so I speak with DH and our financial advisor and that's it.

Silverbirchleaf · 18/10/2025 20:36

Yes, I think everyone does worry about money.,

SophiaSW1 · 18/10/2025 20:39

I don’t anymore but I will never forget that I used to.

Horsie · 18/10/2025 20:40

I do, and that's never changed no matter how much or little I've had.

HappiestSleeping · 18/10/2025 20:41

I can't worry about what I don't have.

Kuretake · 18/10/2025 20:43

I worry a bit as we're a one income family and the job market is a bit crap at the moment. If I lost my job I'd be worried I couldn't get another one at the same level.

Satisfiedwithanapple · 18/10/2025 20:43

I don’t no.

CleanShirt · 18/10/2025 20:44

All day every day. I live alone with a fairly big mortgage (for one person) and have nobody to lean on if things go tits up.

SeagullSam2027 · 18/10/2025 20:44

No, I never worry about money.

Shegotanology · 18/10/2025 20:45

Even billionaires worry about money. They worry about losing it.

do you know lots of billionaires? 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Hummusanddipdip · 18/10/2025 20:47

I do more so now that my wages aren't just an addition to the household budget and are now part of it.
Over the past 4 years life has just gotten more and more expensive. Granted we have moved house, got a newer car and had a 2nd child in those 4 years, but it's the day to day things that cost like the food shop, fuel, maintenance of the cars etc.
Dh and I are still in a position where we can save some money every month, but that savings pot isn't growing as fast as it has in previous years.

*edit spelling

Planck · 18/10/2025 20:47

No I don't.

Shegotanology · 18/10/2025 20:50

@Satisfiedwithanapple No, but I can read, and some studies confirm this.

Are they ‘peer reviewed’? 🥱

Shegotanology · 18/10/2025 20:52

@Satisfiedwithanapple Why don't you go check if you're so interested?

Meadowfinch · 18/10/2025 20:53

Yes. I worry

I'm a year from retirement, and I need the next nine pay packets to make this run smoothly. As it gets closer it seems more important and more high pressure.

Shegotanology · 18/10/2025 20:55

I worry more for my daughter. She will never be able to work due to her disability. I've never had much money as her carer, so I won't be able to leave her much.

I’m not - I suspect that billionaires are more obsessed about money than your average comfortable person who lives in a semi, has paid off their mortgage, drives a 10 year old fiesta and lives within simple means. It’s hardly the same as worrying about where the next meal for your kids is coming from is it? Surely anyone can see that 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yesitsmeimback · 18/10/2025 20:57

I never worry about money we don't earn lots only buy what we can afford no debt so nothing to really worry about.

Shegotanology · 18/10/2025 20:58

@Satisfiedwithanapple I think you missed my point.
