Hello MN.
My employer has advised at 3p.m nobody is getting paid today due to Barclays app and online issues...

When will people due salary payments today actually get paid/be able to access funds ?

This is a nightmare nobody needs the last day of January -any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank-you

As of ten minutes ago, I have bo funds appeared, unable to use either card from Barclays.

I hope they get shut down for the appalling lack of communication never mind holding our money hostage on the last day of January.

I've managed to pay some large bills (£1.5k) and I have the email confirmations but nothing has left my account.

Does this mean the payments have or haven't reached the recipients yet?

My wages have just appeared but none of the SO/DD have gone out yet... and my DH used his card in town ok..x

My child benefit didn't go in today well according to my online banking it didn't I've not tried a cash point. I've got direct debits due to come out Monday so I hope it's sorted or I'll be in a right mess. Luckily I've got money for food in another account but some weeks all I have would have been in my Barclays account. I hope everyone manages ok!!

If your direct debits are set up through Barclays, you'll be OK. They'll leave them in 'pending' until they can get them processed and paid. If you're worried, email the companies who are due to be paid by DD on Monday and just say you bank with Barclays and your payment may be late.

Barclays telling ppl to use food banks
because you can just rock up for a snack 🙄

Not personally affected by this but thought that was beyond the pale

Thank you, I will see what happens Monday and if problems are still continuing then I'll get in touch with the companies.

Made payments yesterday not showing - already got a charge showing for late DD not taken Friday. Will they appear once glitch sorted or do we have to process again?

bestbefore · 01/02/2025 20:55

My card won't work online, I tried a couple of them twice, better not take the money twice...! No comms from them at all, think that's very poor

AcquadiP · 01/02/2025 21:09

I've just been to our local garage and paid with my Barclays debit card, looks like they're up and running again. Yay!

DoubleShotEspresso · 02/02/2025 14:00

So my employers have just paid all of my team 50% of their salary until we get through whatever needs fixing with Barclays.

I still cannot see this but was able to withdraw cash. My card keeps getting declined gor payments. I have no idea if it's cleared, what happened to our salaries and have had umpteen payments bounce.

This means I now have no contact lenses, am behind on school activity/club payments and other routine bills, SEND provider payments and my mobile bill. I aldo need petrol.

What is a reasonable amount to request for compensation for this abject negligence from Barclays please?

My account is updated now. Did groceries yesterday managed to only be able to withdraw 20 quid they wouldn't let me do more. Was able to use the card in Sainsbury's

A notice maybe at the entrance would have been useful, but from being someone that's been posted on an entrance to warn people of something, it doesn't work because you'll get pulled away by another customer just as 10 people with the Barclays cards come in! After being told by the last 100 they'll use another card or they don't bank with Barclays - It's customer service sods law 🤣.

I work in a supermarket (although, thankfully, I've not been working this week) and whenever we put signs up NO BUGGER READS THEM. We can have a sign actually stuck to a self serve machine saying 'this machine will not take cash' and people will still try to use cash, then complain to an assistant, and say 'well I didn't see it!' when the sign is pointed out.

And there aren't enough staff to spare to have someone just standing in the doorway telling people coming in. Plus people will nod and smile and STILL try to pay with a Barclays bank card...

Crunchymum · 02/02/2025 16:59

Most of my transactions have now appeared. Barring the high value one (of course!!). My balance also seems to be correct in line with the transactions that have gone through.

I'll see if the large transaction appears in the next day or so. I've got an email confirmation saying it was paid so hopefully I won't incur any late fees if the payment doesn't go through.

Well yeah there is that element of course, work in hospitality so familiar with people completely ignoring any kind of information you offer them and then moaning they didn't know when they fall foul to it, somehow managing to make it your fault at the same time. It's because they feel daft because they've missed the blatantly obvious and of course being in customer service that's somehow your fault 🤷🏼‍♀️.
And yes re the staff too, which is why I said about getting pulled away by other customers "You're just standing there doing nothing, where is X, can you check out the back for Y" etc etc.

Luckily we didn't seem to have any problems over the weekend. But some poor buggers somewhere will have been shouted at I'd bet.
