Can somebody please explain Barckays issues today ?

Hello MN.
My employer has advised at 3p.m nobody is getting paid today due to Barclays app and online issues...

When will people due salary payments today actually get paid/be able to access funds ?

This is a nightmare nobody needs the last day of January -any info would be greatly appreciated!

Absolute nightmare. I did payroll today from a different bank luckily but anyone including me who banks with Barclays hasn’t received their wages. No transfers are working at all and your card won’t work anywhere either, even if you have funds available. They aren’t giving any idea of time when it will be fixed

I was trying to transfer some money from my account (payday) to my bills account and the pay page was blank.

I've just googled and bbc news had a story about 3 hours ago saying there's an IT outage.

No indication of when it's going to be fixed but all my savings etc are with Barclays too (I bank with 2 banks to try and mean I have money to access in 2 places but that's backfired as this has happened the day the moneys gone into one place!)

I'm guessing if not solved before DD come out and or bounce we need to know if that's our fault or Barclays?!

I have had this too! Transferred some money from one account to another and it's not moved

They have said don’t try to make any payments again until the problem is fixed. I hope this means payments will clear as soon as the outage is over. But if your employer banks with Barclays they may not have been able to make the payments in the first place so they may not be pending. It might rely on someone actioning the payroll again once it’s fixed. Arrgh

They’ve been saying that all day but on twitter there are hundreds of people saying their cards aren’t working for cash or for payments

There's no indication of when this will be resolved, I am a bit worried this will now be the "next working day"/Monday which is really going to present problems.

I just checked my account after seeing this, and my wages are showing (didn't check this morning so not sure when they came in) - but might be going through slowly?

My wages are showing as payday is today so show from midnight.

My ds used his Barclays debit card on his phone earlier.

It's transferring money from the account that seems to be the issue.

I completed on my house sale today, my sale went through fine, but Barclays have my onward purchase money. My removal van is full, my friend is putting me and my kids up. We can't have the keys to our new house 😭

Barclays are saying that cards are still working - neither mine, dh’s or teen kids’ are working- tried all trying to get food earlier but all were declined. Was very lucky there was a friend behind us in the queue- they paid and I’ll have to pay them back whenever the app decides to work again… Just wish they’d tell the truth rather than make it seem less bad.

I've just logged into my account and there was a pop up saying that if you've made a payment don't do it again and that you'll be able to use your card as normal.
I'm not due anything in today, and used my card earlier without issue - but - the transaction isn't showing even as pending, which is unusual.

Tried to draw some cash out earlier but couldn't. Used my card to make a few small purchases (all under a tenner) and that was fine. Need to do a big food shop tomorrow as the cupboards are bare, I'm hoping it's fixed by then!

It’s awful for those planning to move today, really hope it’s sorted quickly for you.

I hadn’t heard that there were any problems and went into a shop at 6.45pm and paid with my card (£30) with no problems. Went into the shop next door to that one and 3 minutes later my card was declined for a £4 purchase. Assumed it was just a temporary glitch either with my card or their card reader but the checkout assistant looked at me like I was a pauper and it was pretty embarrassing as a queue had formed.

I then headed to Aldi to do a top up shop, expected my card would work but it was declined again as was the woman’s card at the self service till next to me. The assistant came to us and asked if we were paying with Barclays debit cards, and explained why they were being declined. I remembered I had an emergency credit card, a Barclaycard, in my bag and was able to pay with that.

We’re due a considerable amount of money being paid into our account today, an inheritance, and while it’s been transferred it appears to be floating around somewhere in the ether.

I was in Aldi's earlier, they were telling people they couldn't pay with a Barclays debit card due to the latter having IT issues.
