Can somebody please explain Barckays issues today ?

Hello MN.
My employer has advised at 3p.m nobody is getting paid today due to Barclays app and online issues...

When will people due salary payments today actually get paid/be able to access funds ?

This is a nightmare nobody needs the last day of January -any info would be greatly appreciated!

That's great :) I spoke to Barclays this morning and they couldn't even see it as processed but that's because of their systems I think. Seems to be becoming more and more common for barclays!

Mine wasn’t showing in my bank but i went to cash point and withdrew it this morning! I don’t have an overdraft either. Hope it’s the same for you :)

I could've wrote your post OP. Employer banks with Barclays, no one has been paid. I don't bank with Barclays.
Work have said as soon as it's up and running they'll pay us over the weekend.
I have £1300 of DD due to leave my account on Monday (thank god no council tax this month!). I have money to move over to cover the DD if it isn't in however it will leave practically 0 in my account afterwards (and I'll be into my agreed overdraft). I also have to pay for my child's nursery fees.
If it's not sorted by Monday what happens? Do I have the right to ask work to pay me cash or will this still not be possible?
I understand I am in a better position than a lot of people. I find it shocking that Barclays response to those that can't afford to feed their children is to use a food bank!

Not the only ones in that camp. Other forums are full of people sitting in Travelodge hotels with cats in carriers and working how to let them out for a wee. It’s awful.

I'm with Barclays. Thank goodness my pay went in yesterday morning no problem, but can't get onto my online account this morning to pay the mortgage. Need to transfer from one account to another. Tried different browsers but nothing works. How terrible for those whose pay check hasn't come in.

@BeOchreSwan thank you, I’ll give that a try! I have seen online some people unable to pay with their debit cards or withdraw cash, seems hit and miss! Fingers crossed it’s fixed soon, hopefully house sales go through quickly! X

I've just had a payment that would usually have come in at midnight, hoping others are now getting theirs.

i'm with Barclays and can't use my card or withdraw cash and my shopping click and collect for this morning has been cancelled as the payment didn't go through.

My child benefit that should've gone in at midnight has just landed but still no sign of the maintenance that XP transferred at 7pm... Grr.

I made a payment at 5am ish.

My child benefit didn't go in today well according to my online banking it didn't I've not tried a cash point. I've got direct debits due to come out Monday so I hope it's sorted or I'll be in a right mess. Luckily I've got money for food in another account but some weeks all I have would have been in my Barclays account. I hope everyone manages ok!!

I wonder if Barclays will cover any fees people may be charged for late payments? Or if companies will waive the charges due to the situation?
I make a lot of payments by standing order because I don't get paid on the same date each month, so they're set to every 28 days, rather than a DD on a specific date, where I can. I think they still go out even on a weekend but I can't look at more than the basics on my account ATM and my balance is the same as it has been since Thursday but I know I've spent some money on my card that luckily worked.

Really feel for those in limbo over house sales and for those waiting for money they need for essentials.

My wages are in now so looks like it is slowly being sorted! Hope everyone else gets their money/access soon.

@Sunnytimes21 the deposit we were waiting for is now in our account, showing on the app, so hopefully your move will be sorted out early on Monday. Do keep us updated.

Pretty sure they'll have to as its undeniably their fault problems have arisen. Its probably cheaper for them to do so (right down to paying for the travel lodge accommodation over the weekend) than having the bad publicity of not making good on their mistakes - can you imagine Martin Lewis on the topic - and the administrative nightmare of thousands of complaints to the Ombudsman/ small claimns court.

Tbh I think it’s entirely possible they may face fines from the FCA as well as the need to pay out millions in compensation/unpaid fees and for people whose credit scores will be impacted by late payments.

I transferred money twice to someone thinking it was just a problem on their account. Signed in to mine and it says not to keep making payments. I hope I haven't sent it twice.

My payments are finally in, hopefully everyone will get theirs soon too.
