How much does your sky package cost?

Hi! Our sky package is out of contract and has gone up to £150pm for broadband, landline, signature pack, cinema, kids, sports, TNT sport and Netflix.
Tried to haggle them down and when I said I’d leave they basically waved me goodbye🤣.
interested to know what others pay for their sky packages/what it includes.
Got a quote from virgin for £105 and £50 off first bill, had unbelievably awful experience with them in past but don’t think I can turn down saving over £500 a year.

Mine was similar, only difference was I don't have sports. I swapped to EE last month and they've literally halved it

MigGril · 29/08/2024 14:14

Nothing, we ditched sky when we moved 5 years ago. They got to expensive.

We currently pay £50;a month to BT for (which DH has been shoppingaround for as he thinks its to much and we want to drop the landline), broadband and phone package. We have Netflix and Disney +(which I sometime get free with tesco), Apple + free with Barkleys and Amazon prime as we order stuff. We will occasionally get another streaming app if there is something we want to watch but like the fact you can easily dip in and out of them.

We haven't missed sky but never did watch much sport.

MightyGoldBear · 29/08/2024 14:15

We left sky months ago they are ridiculously expensive. We just have netflix now actually found We haven't missed it at all.

We used to haggle the price down but they just were not interested anymore. I just can't wrap my head around spending over a thousand on TV a year !

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/08/2024 14:17

We have Sky Q plus multi room, film package, broadband and Netflix and think we pay £110. I'll go and double check...

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/08/2024 14:20

Just checked and it's £130 per month

TabbyBeast · 29/08/2024 14:47

Yeah, same with us but we didn't have all the extra packages; just said goodbye at renewal when I said I would renew for a similar price.

Annoyingly, two months after we moved to another provider, they sent a letter offering the price I had wanted, if we come back 🙄

sangriaandsunshineplease · 29/08/2024 15:04

Our out of contract has just gone up to £190! I tried to haggle the other day and they told me to wait until September for better offers.

FlipFlops4Me · 29/08/2024 15:13

I pay £60 for TV ands broadband but only have one hockey puck, no sports and none of the cinema packages. I'm going to be cancelling the TV in January (earliest possible date) because I've noticed that I mainly watch Youtube and Amazon Prime on the sitting room TV.

I leave the telly on for the dogs when I go out but they're OK with BBC so I'll get one of the small aerials. I have one upstairs and it's fine although I don't use the TV up there very much.

LondonQueen · 29/08/2024 15:29

Mine was £130 a month for a similar setup, with relatively slow speeds. I switched to VM and they're much faster, though I still pay about £100 a month, albeit for the fastest connection and a limited tv package.

I just had an end of contract haggle with Sky. I have broadband, entertainment, cinema & netflix, with UHD and 1 extra box and it was going up to £120 pm. Virgin offered it at £75 not including Netflix, so would have been around £90 once I'd added that on, then another £10pm for the additional boxes I also wanted (18 months contract). Virgin is new to my area and lots of posts on FB saying it is always off and customer service terrible so I was wary but couldn't justify not doing it for the saving. Initially sky offered me a whole £3pm discount (after 6 years as a customer!) but called back a week or two later to offer it at £90 with a 2 year contract and a one off payment of £100 for 2 new boxes. So works out cheaper and longer contract, and I do use the Vue cinema tickets tbf.
The virgin salesman was ridiculously pushy too, turning up at my house banging on the door and ringing & texting constantly.

Expectinglittlebean2024 · 29/08/2024 15:48

Ours is £68 (was £58 before April when they can put it up). We cancelled when out of contract and then as we were due to leave they gave us a deal which I haggled. We have sky signature, sky sports, sky cinema & sky broadband super fast. I have also just added Netflix (adverts) for 2 months free, which will be £4.50 if we don't cancel (1 month rolling). Compared to everyone else we know, I think ours is a great deal.

1apenny2apenny · 29/08/2024 15:55

It's very difficult to compare because there are so many parts eg UHD, extra boxes etc. We have just given notice to Sky and are deciding what to do, the problem is we watch a lot of sport. Ours went up to £150 too plus we have Amazon Prime but still struggle to find a movie to watch!

mitogoshi · 29/08/2024 16:23

£52.99 but don't have sports, cinema
Mine includes broadband fast fibre, landline, Netflix, standard channels - I threaten to leave every 18 months Grin

mitogoshi · 29/08/2024 16:25

Only one box here and not ultra i should add

Dontcallmescarface · 29/08/2024 16:28

£34....but I only have broadband and phone because that's all I want.

cosyleafcafe · 29/08/2024 16:30

I am gobsmacked that Sky are still in business. They are so outdated and expensive. All they are good for is sports - why anyone else would use them is beyond me.

Musicaltheatremum · 29/08/2024 16:37

I'm £25 for broadband and have prime. I get plenty viewing for that. You could swap in and out of different things and save a lot of money. Eg netflix Disney etc.

Every time I price up separately it comes out the same price so I don't think they're extortionate. My parents have VM and I'm not tempted at all to swap.

hideawayforever · 29/08/2024 16:44

ours is £79 a month and includes broadband, definitively need to switch.

LlamaDuke · 29/08/2024 16:48

Ours is £124 per month, which we haggled down from £150. We have the top level broadband with fastest speed, sports, cinema, Sky Q silver multiroom, Netflix, Disney Plus and a 2TB box. We didn't think that was too bad actually, as the price hasn't really gone up over the past few years because we always renegotiate before the end of the contract.

JDob · 29/08/2024 16:56

Do 'now tv', and freesat. Still cheaper.

Perzival · 29/08/2024 17:03

Ours is £77.50 for Q, fibre, phone line, cinema, sports, kids, netflix and signiture. It's due to go up to over £150 in October so I guess we'll see. I've been with them over 20 years.

VM are outdated too.

TV packages in general are ridiculous and extortionate unless you are into sports.

Live TV is in the dark ages. Very few people under 30 care about it and just use digital streaming.

witheringbook · 29/08/2024 17:25

Cancelled ours late last year as it was getting stupid.

Moved to EE Broadband which is better and cheaper. We already had separate Netflix and I have Amazon Prime for the free delivery. I pay £5pm for Now TV which is the Sky channels anyway.

I just use iPlayer, 4 on demand etc for everything else. Don't miss it at all. DH missed the ability to record as he likes to watch c4 News about 7.30pm and 4 on demand doesn't have it until after, but that's not worth paying megabucks to keep!
