Serious question although I'm totally expecting funny answers too.

What would you do with 100k to make the most of your future?

I'll add a brief poll but am looking for genuine answers.

I've put save but realistically would probably buy a replacement car then save the rest for DC uni funds (x3)

Bpickle1 · 28/12/2023 22:11

I wouldn’t contact an SJP practise that’s for sure

Ambi · 28/12/2023 22:15

Not touch crypto with a bargepole.

Instead it would be utterly boring stuff like clear my mortgage, finally get the major house improvements that need doing (roof, windows, kitchen and bathroom) and then it would be a 3 week family trip to Maui. In that order but honestly, after the mortgage there'd be hardly any left to finish the refurb.

MahShinyShoes · 28/12/2023 22:19

Shove it in the best possible savings account to pay towards private school for 2 kids.

Toooldtoworry · 28/12/2023 22:20

Pension and savings probably with the potential to lump some off the mortgage.

DragonFly98 · 28/12/2023 22:22

Pay off mortgage then do kitchen and bathroom.

stargirl1701 · 28/12/2023 22:23

Pay off that proportion of the mortgage.

scrivette · 28/12/2023 22:26

I would use it to pay for a loft conversion and extension on our house.

Guavafish1 · 28/12/2023 22:26

pay mortgage

MalcolmTuckersDisdainfulSneer · 28/12/2023 22:26

Save!

Due to being a US citizen abroad I can't invest in hedge funds and the like, so I'd just find an account with a good rate of interest and stick it in there and up my pension contributions too

ACynicalDad · 28/12/2023 22:27

Some home repairs, a nice holiday and a chunk off the mortgage.

Haha I'd put it all into crypto Grin

mrsbyers · 28/12/2023 22:34

Pay off last bit of mortgage , buy DH a new car and stick £50k in pension / investments

Lizzieregina · 28/12/2023 22:36

I’d quit my job and start retirement early.

staplefusion · 28/12/2023 22:41

Ooh I would max out the pension for a few years, pay off a chunk of mortgage and get the house repainted.

Great problem to have :)

Whatapickle23 · 28/12/2023 22:42

100k would be life changing for me!

I'd pay off my 7k credit card debt
I'd spend maybe 5k on my first ever car
I'd put around £50k down for a house deposit
I'd spend 3k on a nice holiday with the kid
I'd save/invest the rest

Kwasi · 28/12/2023 22:50

Leave DH tomorrow.

Vigility · 28/12/2023 22:57

New (2nd hand) car
max out pension
invest

Bunda · 28/12/2023 23:00

40k on mortgage
2k on debts
10k on a holiday
20k upgrading my car

And the rest to use my heating however I want through this winter 🤣

SunflowerSeeds123 · 28/12/2023 23:01

Put it towards a new house.

IIdentifyAsInnocent · 28/12/2023 23:06

Pay into a high interest savings account, then draw some down each year to pay off as much as I could of my mortgage without hitting early redemption charges. That would allow me to pay off my mortgage at leat 5 years early and retire sooner. Then I'd travel.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 28/12/2023 23:08

Build an extension on my house

unsync · 28/12/2023 23:10

Totally depends on personal situation. High interest debt paid off first. Then a combo of low and medium risk investment, emergency fund and pension payments.

AyrshireTryer · 28/12/2023 23:10

Pack a bag, call a cab, and go.

TheUsualChaos · 28/12/2023 23:15

Probably finish off the jobs on this house and then pay off most of the mortgage with view to move again in about 2-3 years.
