Tax credits

@AdditionalCharacter
Mine has fully updated now 🙌it's showing payments slightly higher than before and a extra payment on the 8th. All that worrying for nothing .

I hope everyone else gets theirs sorted ASAP. One thing I've learned is don't fret it will come . (I'm a massive worrier)

I’m glad yours is sorted. Definitely right about the worrying thing.

Still no change on mine but I’m not due a payment until Tuesday so maybe it will be done then.

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 04/09/2021 12:44

Mine hasn’t changed from what it said before so hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

nancy75 · 04/09/2021 13:27

I still can’t be dealt with online!
This does annoy me, I do the HMRC reporting for the company I work for, if I send them anything late I’m threatened with a £1000 fine

putthetubeinthebin · 04/09/2021 13:52

Why isn't this like any other change where you have to inform?! They could just keep paying unless told otherwise and anything you dont declare is fraud. Works with all the other changes!

And these days most kids are in education until 18 so a change would be the exception not the rule.

It's almost as though they don't want us to have the money HmmWink

Babyroobs · 04/09/2021 14:12

The sooner tax credits are phased out the better really. the system just causes so many problems / overpayments etc.

Strongswans · 04/09/2021 15:43

My son turned 16 a week ago, told tax credits a while ago he was staying on, checked my bank today and yesterday's payment not gone in, tc account says they can't manage it online so now I have to wait until Monday to call them 😡 I'm DSs carer so every penny counts!

Yep, I don’t get it almost all kids stay in education now so why not make it opt out for those that don’t? Making more work for themselves doing it like this & messing us about at the same time
Bollindger · 04/09/2021 17:59

Wait till people find out the Govenment will go after you for rent , if your child earnt money in the Holidays, they are supposed to contribute to the rent, Cost me £540 as much as my child earnt, she was in collage and she spent every penny, then complained when I was sanctioned and Christmas was token gifts.

H1978 · 04/09/2021 18:05

It’s a ridiculous system I agree. I am okay as I’ve got some savings and only one child requiring uniform. For those who need that money for essentials, they don’t make uniform cheap with all these logo clothing, it’s a real worry in time for school next week. If you’ve informed them months ago, as most kids know if they’re staying in education, why is it that come September the claims have not been updated?! I informed them in May when dd had finished her exams.

Because I guess things change - over the summer some kids will not get the required grades to go onto sixth form or college so will leave school to do apprenticeships or paid work . Most wont get results until mid August.

I've just noticed that my 18 year old is still listed as on my claim. He's going to university, do I have to tell them? I thought he would be automatically removed, I don't get any payments for him at all. Am I in trouble?

Yes you need to tell them asap. The tax credits for him would have stopped from 31st August.

Sorry just re-read that you don't get any payments for him which is odd if he is still on your claim.
H1978 · 05/09/2021 15:45

Definitely re-check otherwise they might penalise you for not letting them know.

whatisthisinhere · 06/09/2021 14:09

I don't understand why they automatically remove 16 year olds, but not 18 year olds when they've finished their non-advanced education. I've done it now, so lucky I checked

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 07/09/2021 08:17

Mine says it ‘should be’ done by the 7th of September it it’s not yet, so maybe by the end of the day.
Like someone else said we get sanctions or fines for not doing things on time!

H1978 · 07/09/2021 09:25

I had a web chat with an adviser yesterday as still nothing showing on the claim. I was told I’d get paid on the 8th (so tomorrow) and was also told the amount I would be getting. Claim still not updated today but got a small payment today, I get mine on a Tuesday anyway, it’s about half of what I was told I’d be getting so not sure what that is. Will hold out and see what happens tomorrow. Never known tax credit renewals to be so bad in all the years I’ve been claiming.

HighHighHopes · 07/09/2021 09:46

Mines still not done. Last week it said it should be done by 7th Sept so I'm hoping for an update soon.

I'm annoyed that my usual Monday payment hasn't gone in and I have no idea how much future payments will be yet.

nancy75 · 07/09/2021 09:48

Mine still not done either, still saying can’t be dealt with online

HighHighHopes · 07/09/2021 11:24

After 34 minutes on hold, I've been informed they had no record of the fact I had rang mid August to inform them my twins were staying in full time education. So they'd stopped my claim!

It's been updated now but potentially a 14 day wait before payments recommence and the 'missed' payments will be spread over the year. That leaves me with a massive hole in my finances.

What a shitshow.

I told them in May because I knew dd was staying at the same school in sixth form but I still had to manually add her last week. Definitely a shitshow. They should compensate people whose claims haven’t been updated in time. They’re quick to fine people for any late payments.
whatisthisinhere · 07/09/2021 12:35

Mine still isn't updated

Gluestick80 · 07/09/2021 13:41

Mine isn’t either, still saying by the 7th so hopefully today.
